Had a lot of fun yesterday flying around in a galaxy with a squad, taking bases all over the map... ... at least until TR suddenly had 52%+ population, vanu ~16% and my NC ~32%. We got trashed at every point by sheer numbers.

The game is really fun if you manage to find a squad. After an hour of playing solo or in squads that had no organization I finally found the same guys i was flying around yesterday and played Galaxy pilot for them again. Took over half of the Vanu territory until we got overrun and i made a hot pickup below 3 of those Vanu gliders and 2 of their Galaxys in the middle of the enemy base. Only lost one Galaxy in 4 hours of play and that was when it was deployed on the ground and we got bombarded by Liberators and Mosquitos on a tower we needed to hold to not get cut off. I think i'll specialize my certs in that direction, i've seen a lot of pilots crash their Galaxys so i guess a pilot that manages to not do that will be sought after :p I wish there was a training mode where you could just fly around in singleplayer and practice landings and stuff.

Played TR in PS1 just because but playing VS atm. I'm not much of an authoritarian government type =P. Though NC is tempting with the harder hitting rounds and weapon damage not dropping off as bad as the energy weapons over distance. Any TL stuff going? Never a bad idea to play together with ppl.

Also the crown is possible to take, you just need a fuck ton of tanks combined with several galaxies (because some of them are going to die regardless of what you do, gg crown AA turrets) and some light assaults to rape their spawn gen.

I hadn't spent any certs yet, had 100 something so I was like why not see if its as stupid as it generally is. The answer is yes, yes it is. Nub questions. A) Why the hell don't me nades refill now? When I spawn or resupply I never have nades. B) There's currently no different weapons for a class? You just get X rifle and Y pistol?

And yeah, the different weapons are locked for infantry. Exception being maxes and heavy assaults, vehicles also have all of their weapons unlocked. Also get the laser dot. Its the best 10 cert points you'll ever spend.

It makes hip fire better. A LOT better. The front grip will help out with aim down on the vanu weapons, probably do nothing on the NC weapons given that they're all up recoil, and maybe help a bit on TR. But to be honest I'd rather have a laser dot because it just lets you faceroll people in CQC. Grab a grenade bandolier too, eventually you'll have to trade your shield for it but atm you don't lose your shield...so no penalty for 2 more grenades? YES PLEASE

It took me 2-3 days of trying to fly before I could do it without instantly crashing into the ground. Then another few to be able to fly without instantly dying to AA or other players in fighters. Now, I'm still pretty bad, but I've had 8+ kill streaks in the scythe so I guess that's something. I still hate the controls though. The mouse is not a good device for controlling an axis because you can't turn in 1 direction indefinitely. If I tilt my ship to the right a bit then have to pull up constantly to turn right more when chasing someone I can only do it so long before I run out of room with my mouse and have to pick it up and move it giving me a second of lost control which is very annoying. I'd rather have the option of arrow keys for axis with controllable rotation speed, but we'll see what they do. Another thing I found important when learning to fly was good use of the space bar. It moves your ship "up" (toward the top of you're ship rather than strictly "up") and allows for a lot of precision maneuvering (ctrl goes down). Also never underestimate any form of Flak cannon (base AA, scattershot MAXes and Skyguard Lightnings) or Galaxy/Lib turrets aimed your way. If their aim is not terrible they will completely shred you before you have time to react so don't consider slowing down to hover over a base or behind something unless you know there's no dedicated AA near by or there's no gunner sitting in a seat pointing in your direction.

I was bad with flying my first few times, but once I realized how it worked, I've been having so much fun with zooming around dangerous obstructions. Up and down with the mouse is the most important thing and that's how you turn. Once I realized this, I tried to put myself in the mindset of only thinking of tilting forward/back, trying to completely get rid of the idea of turning right/left. Now I just think of flying as up/down, and I just spin to change what up/down is. I try to ignore actual up/down, kind of as if I were just flying in space where there would be no ground/sky. Most of the time I don't even look at the ground except if I'm about to crash into it and then I quickly pull up. The flying feels really rewarding to me. I love the way it works. My only thing I'm not certain about this game is the objective/rewards. I haven't looked up a lot on how the system works, but sometimes it'll feel like we capture a big area of the continent, and then I come on later and it'll all be gone. This makes me wonder whether our long hard fights which took those areas actually meant anything, or if its just basically being reset all the time. If there aren't any long term goals, I'd really love it if it added some. But the battles and atmosphere, so good!! And yes, it is free to play.

As I login they ask me to reset my password, I do that, and then I log in again...with another exact same "reset your password please" screen right in front of my face. As I try to do the same thing again, they lock up my station for 24 hours, saying I've been trying (and failing) to reset my password too many times in a short timespan. What's going on!?
