Also, is there not crazy lag with the amount of people on a server?
It's really worth playing. It's like BF3 except with 40 times as many players.
I didn't notice any lag at all and as for performance, even in the big tank battle in my short video above the framerate on my old machine was around 25 fps, which - considering the amount of stuff going on - is still playable and will most likely improve when they start to optimize.
I really recommend everyone to get that access pack thing and try it, it's well worth the money. Also, roll NC please.
I was playing with a platoon of 2 squads (1 squad = 12 players) yesterday and fighting against the overwhelming number of TR was a blast. Eventhough we were outnumbered in most battles 5 to 1, we still managed to defend some positions.
At one point we were defending a tower northwest of rashnu when the TR rolled in with 4 sunderers, a bunch of prowlers and a horde of liberators, mosquitos and infantry. We were 24 men with 2 vanguards, 1 lightning and 2 reavers. 30 minutes later the last TR sunderer blew up and we pushed them all the way back to the palisade. Well, 1 hour later we got overrun on every base by 30 tanks.

I got into beta, and sad to say. I can't seem to enjoy it. Even though you can pilot a fucking aircraft carrier >.>

I don't know, I just don't have the passion for FPS games sadly

Join a squad. Flying/Walking around on your own can be quite boring, especially if you are on the losing side. Once you start doing something organised with a group of other people, it becomes a completely different experience.

I was having a pretty good time by myself and with some friends in the tech test and early beta, but after joining an organized outfit I don't think I could play without them anymore. Seriously, it's a blast.

I don't even play when there aren't at least 5 other people from my outfit around. This game can simply not be played alone.

So I got an email from Planetside 2 claiming that I've been selected for the beta. I click the download now button and it just redirects me to the home page?!?! WTF!!
Edit: ohhh, never mind. It's because I had multiple accounts registered with the same email address. I had to go through all my accounts to figure out which one was selected. Lol.

OK recently bought the game and got the additional beta key to give away. So offering it out to you guys. Like I said only one to give away and I don't know if they're region specific, if so it'd be a Europe key. OK i'm going to post the key here and you whoever get's it have fun! There's only one catch, each letter and number in the key is going to be either one up or down from what it should be. All of them will be the same so if the key was ABCD1 that could either be ZABC0 or BCDE2. Just to stop people with the fastest copy and paste winning likewise with fastest internet.

If you're also a member of Reddit come join us at r/TestOutfit. We're the official Outfit of r/Planetside. Just navigate to r/TestOutfit and join our TeamSpeak server. We're currently playing VS on Metis, but we're planning to switch it up after the next character wipe.

I got into beta, played for a few hours, then uninstalled.
Honestly, they focused so much on graphics that the screen is so busy I can't very well concentrate on the actual FPS elements. Even when within 20-30 feet of enemies, they can get lost in the graphic noise. Combine that with the massive maps and battle field areas and it's hard to find a good fight. It becomes a back-hacking contest.
I was a great fan of PS1, but this one just feels different on a fundamental level. Damage levels are also very high and marginalize skill and matchups somewhat. Even Main Battle Tanks can drop very quickly, let alone anything else.

The funemental lack of a front line sucks. It might just be because we all hate Indar by now and are sick of it so we skitter around the map like ants but theirs no big battles.
Esamir is due up next patch so hopefully that makes a difference
The map burns my eyes too. I hate the hexes

Did you play it since they added sunderer spawns and made galaxy spawns hard to access? That added a significantly more pronounced frontline with a lot more and longer tank battles. Sure, the frontline moves depending on which faction is currently making the stronger push at that front but it's still a frontline behind which it's relatively calm on both sides.
I hope they remove galaxy spawns for good. I never played PS1 and when there were only Galaxy spawns, i didn't care much, but since seeing the effect of Sunderer spawns on the gameplay i have to say the game got 10 times more awesome. I just wish you would get auraxium faster, getting to the 10k+ needed for the interesting weapons takes soooooooooo long.

Yes I have. I've played alot and basiclly have everything certed lol. Sunderer spawn has helped but The 20min life span of one unatteneded is problematic. I think a deployed Sundered should NEVER auto decon.

Why? As the driver you'd never actually be away for 20+ minutes - or if you are you're the wrong person for the job. I remember no situation where we would fight over a place for 20+ minutes and no enemy tried to destroy the sundy. Someone always has to be around to protect & repair. We also often have to relocate it every few minutes. Or you might as well hop in for a second every 15 or so minutes. No big deal.

I've had galaxies deconstruct themselves from being away from them for too long. Its a big pain in the ass sometimes.
|
have to say, i like what they keep doing to the game.
can't wait to see how much better it is in a month or two.
|
I hope they add cloaking fields to the Sunderer soon. They were a lot more fun in PS1.

Looking forward to the new updates, its no fun with noone to play with :/
