Sounds about right Kick ass trailer. Too bad the game isn't gonna be half that cool lol. Hard to beat a sick cgi trailer like that tho im in tech test also and the game is definitely amazing that trailer is definitely nc & vanu propaganda tho Lucky bastard.
And the trailer just confrms what Ive been saying since 2003, NC OP! One guy with a gauss rifles killed 2 GALAXYS a Prowler and about 10 TR!
|
The trailer also has some deep and edgy grimdark themes to it too, if you want to go that route.
+ Show Spoiler [Warning: Grimdark as fuck ahead] +The way the soldier talks really makes him out to be just tired of fighting. "There is no glory after death", there can't be. Every time you are killed, you are put back in a respawn tube with your nanites rebuilt and are sent right back into the fighting. He is weary, there is no glory in what he's doing. He's probably fought and died hundreds of times before that moment. And the most grimdark of them all, is as soon as he dies from the stab wound, he's just going to be respawned again and drop podded into the battle...again.
They're soldiers stuck in an eternal cycle of war and death. I think this point could have been capitalized much better too if they showed him back in a respawn tube at the end of the trailer, but nonetheless, cool shit.

I swear I did some research, but... what does "gridmark" mean?

Dohohohoho, meant grimdark.
It is generally used to describe a setting which it would really, REALLY suck to actually live in

Wow that trailer is fucking awesome. I've watched it 3 times already; I can't wait for this game to come out. argh I want a beta invite!!
Still haven't decided what side I want to fight for. I've always like getting the job done with bullets and explosives though. I like the idea that, although there are other beings with crazy technology or better biology, human strength and tech can still get the job done. Hence why I only play Terran in SC2; Marine siegetank is my favorite lol.
There was an interesting graph posted somewhere of the +/-'s of each faction, can't remember where I saw that though. Based on my description though, would I be happier going TR or NC? (I never really play the alien races).

Vanu aren't aliens.
NC and TR appear exactly the same but they aren't though. NC use magnetic and railgun weaponry while TR use bullets and explosives. Without going into Vanu since you apparently don't want to use them, TR are dakka dakka and super fast but accurate firing weapons. Hence their double barreled tank. NC are about slower firing, higher damage weapons that can take more of a punch as well.

Vanu use lasers and shit. Their shots are highly accurate with moderate damage but pretty intense recoil. They also don't suffer from bullet drop, of course, however as an offset their weapon damage is reduced the further you shoot, but this difference is nonexistent in regular firing ranges. Only to stop snipers from being bush wookies and stuff. If you can control the recoil though, you'll basically never miss and do some decent damage. Pretty cool.
Plus they have the coolest vehicles.

I guess I need to look into the guns / vehicles of each race; is this information readily available?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railgun
A railgun is an electrically powered electromagnetic projectile launcher based on similar principles to the homopolar motor. A railgun comprises a pair of parallel conducting rails, along which a sliding armature is accelerated by the electromagnetic effects of a current that flows down one rail, into the armature and then back along the other rail.[1]
That's how their weapons work.
They're far more powerful because of it, but offer a far lower firing rate and accuracy when fired super quickly.
EDIT: But TR have lots of dakka though. Their pistol is based on a burst-firing mode, the Cycler (standard issue carbine) has the fastest firing rate in the game, and they also have a minigun
