Yes, after 800 hours as NC, i just couldn't stand their incompetence anymore. They had a few great people that kept me there a while longer but the majority was just stupid and so i decided that enough is enough and rolled a new VS character. The VS definitely have better organization and they have the brains to not attack the NC when the TR have 50% population. From the NC i heard stupid sentences like "No, we can't attack the TR, they have 50% pop. We have to attack the VS because we can beat them".
They already stated that all continents will get lattice since they are satisfied with the results from indar, so no, hex&influence is definitely dead no matter how me and about half the good platoon leaders on Miller argued against it. I always compare it to drops in Starcraft. "OMG, drops are OP, we have to watch the map and defend against them all the time, do something against it!" - "Ok, we'll remove medivacs from the game", instead of telling people to get better, they just dumb the game down. I now know how all the Broodwar fans that argued against MBS, automining and unlimited control groups feel.

You play on miller? what's your nick? I'm the leader of Chewbacca [I1], #1 on the farm leaderboard of all servers. UndercoverDolphin

Morfildur for the NC Morfgrimm for the VS (It was the name of my dwarf in LotRO, so shush, it's a great name)
Barely notice I1, though one of your guys ran me over a while back. I consider farming XP quite... pointless to say it lightly.

You could say the same for anything people do in PS2, it's a sandbox like that. Anything you do will get old after a while, be it farming or playing for territories. I mostly fight for air superiority with my outfit ]N[, which is a blast, but even that would get old if I didn't do a little ground pounding once in a while.
Morfildur I'd recommend making a TR on Mattherson and running with BWC some before you give up on the game for good. They run a tight shift and play with objective based strategies, which it sounds like is what you enjoy. It might breath new life into this for you. Their air division wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for, but as a ground pounder that's definitely the place to be. They have some great minds pooling together to figure out how to be most effective with this new system in place.

Thanks for the shout out Chuck. BWC has a solid group of players in EU timezones, and one or two of them are taskforce leaders. There are some EU friendly operations that are run, and you should be able to figure out how to schedule and lead your own ops with them after some training and a fairly short recruitment period. That would get you some competent troops to order around, I remember that you've done that before. GL with whatever you decide to go with though man.

So I got a 25$ credit with my new gfx card towards this game.
What do you spend money on and what is my best way to spend it? I guess its best to play it a little and try it before spending those 25 in it isn't it?

My recommendation is to only spend it on vehicle weapons (if you want to be a vehicle guy) or an XP boost. The first thing a lot of new players feel the urge to buy is new infantry guns, but that is definitely not what you want to do. Most infantry weapons are just side grades rather than upgrades, and even the ones that are definitively better are going to depend heavily on your play style... so you don't know which one will be best for you until you have played for a while and learned the ins and outs. If you play the game and like it and know you're going to be playing it a lot, the best value by far is an XP boost, as that allows you to unlock everything in the game faster.
Also, as a general rule, you want to spend your cash on the things that have the highest cert prices, like 750-1000 certs as those things are hard to save up for, where as the items that cost like 100-250 certs eventually become pretty easy to farm for once you get in the groove of the game.

Rockets for your aircraft = always a great buy. If you work on certing your aircraft and get decent at flying then its the most effective way to earn certs. Upgrading the main gun isnt as expensive and can be done with certs.
The weapon with underbarrel launcher for each factions engineer. For vanu its the solstice. its a great buy, in bio labs using a ammo pack and farm when defending.
Another great buy is two good main guns for your Max unit. Which those are depend on faction, blueshift is nice for VS. But remember.. planetside 2 is a pretty frustrating game to start out with since its slow to get a wide variety of gear. So focusing on a few good and fun things is best. If you get two good main guns for your MAX you could spend certs on the respawn timer on it so you can use it more often and use it frequently.

I completely agree. The default infantry guns are all competitive though you have to play them in a certain way depending on the faction (e.g. VS Orion requires you to get close, NC NC6 Gauss SAW will lose you every close quarter fight). Eventually you might want to unlock sidegrades that fit better into your playstyle but until you know what that playstyle is, what class you prefer or wether you even want to fight as infantry at all, it's best to stick with the default guns. I'm currently making a "let's play the hard way" for my youtube channel where i don't spend a single cert on a new character and apart from stuff like the Sunderer spawn upgrade i don't really feel like it puts me behind.

I can also attest for Notorious being great pilots, seems like every time I die to a mossie it is one of those guys and as far as the ground game goes BWC is probably the funnest TR Matherson outfit to fight against.
I am part of TAS as part of NC on Matherson, IGN is Amnesiac.

Speaking of flying, as NC I can't fly no more because every single time I get into TR airspace I hear *beep* *beep* *beep* which annoys me so much.

Someone mentioned incompetence in the NC That, ladies and gentlemen, is a posthumous teamkill by a tank driver. Why is it that the faction with the coolest vehicles has the dumbest pilots?
I was driving a lightning, by the way, so I wasn't just an infantryman being crushed by debris. That's armour piercing scrap metal, right there.

NC spend too much time complaining and too little time actually practicing and improving, especially reaver pilots. While there are some good reaver pilots, most of them whine since beta about how the reaver is so bad and so they always find an excuse for losing and don't see the need to get better. Vanguards... well, first there were Magriders that were pretty strong, so Vanguard drivers whined. Then prowlers were pretty strong, so Vanguard drivers whined some more. Then tanks got pretty balanced but Magrider and Prowler drivers actually learned to play in all the time the Vanguard drivers spent whining.
NC are indeed space america, not space braveheart scotland as i first assumed. They solve problems by sueing, i.e. whining on the official forums and threatening to stop playing, instead of using their brains.

Was with you until the ignorant country bashing, but whatever. The best NC pilots on Mattherson used to be TR pilots, but they made an outfit of alts and named it "cry me a reaver", in response to all the whining from reaver pilots. They barely play TR now because reavers are so good when used correctly. What worries me though is these are the guys devs are approaching to get information on the current state of ESFs for the next update. Hopefully the guys who play both factions haven't picked up a bias.

If you're still reading this, Torte, you should probably play Quake Live instead of Planetside.
PS2 is great when you're with a group of fellows, pushing through enemy territory over the course of hours. If you just hop on and hit instant-action, it just feels like a Call of Duty clone with cute stuff and weird bugs...and rocket pods.
|
I played a ton of Quake Live and eventually just stopped because I was better than my friends, but awful against everyone else (like: not even close to winning).
I alos like insta-kill in Quake, which is a bit unpopular.

People saying you should buy vehicle weapons are crazy.
Buy shotguns.

I have all the shotguns and i barely find reasons to use them. They are fun in some situations but usually it's better to run around with a more versatile weapon instead that doesn't instantly put you behind if your enemies are more than 10m away.
