Edit: and did everyone quit planetside? before there used to be atleast 3 people on all the time.
I didn't personally quit Planetside (end of university term = crunch time), but I think most people did. I hope that people will regain interest once the Lattice system is implemented and working properly, as action won't nearly be as difficult to find.
As for the TR pops, the only thing I know is that The Enclave (an outfit) cancelled operations for this week so that accounts for about 100 players during prime time.

Don't forget the big drama between TE and AoD with a few of the AoD people claiming they stopped playing because TE hunts and teamkills all AoD players and some TE players saying that TE will leave PS2.

The TKing thing probably would cause a good portion, although I remember TR having lower pops after moving into the SE corner of Indar.
As for TE, all I have to go by is their front page where BCP says that TE isn't leaving PS2 and that they aren't having ops this week. I know that BCP's stream was taken down, and on the PS2 forums he states that it was because he was playing PS1 music which made the Twitchbots ban him. Take from that what you will.
BCP and the TE is def fun to play with (started watching his stream weeks ago by accident when I was just trying to find out about PS2) but I can also see the drama-love

10 minutes after starting to watch his stream i got a strong urge to put my Mag-Cutter into his face. Lucky for him he is on the wrong server :p
Also I have 600 SC. I think I might have to deposit $5 more and just get a shotty b/c I hate getting smoked by them. Anyone notice a difference so far?
edit: heh I can also see why someone would want to do that as well
Other people get things done too with less numbers and drama involved, but they don't have the popularity. Kids love the trashy streams. AoD is the largest outfit in Mattherson TR's ULTRA Alliance, TE is the 2nd largest, so the conflict definitely hurt our faction's numbers. Less zerg outfits to throw around.
This is the story how I've heard it. AoD was the first to teamkill the other outfits, however it wasn't actually AoD doing it, it was VS abusing AoD's open recruitment policy to join on TR alts and disrupt ULTRA through teamkilling, etc. Buzzcut went crazy over it when TE was being killed by an allied outfit, so he had TE members hunt down AoD guys like dogs for a while. Then he said some nasty shit in orders channel, which SoE decided to suspend him for. They could never punish him for the shit he says on his stream because that's his business. Even if it makes PS2 look bad it's not something SoE has control over, but he made the mistake of carrying his usual fruitcake routine over to one of the in game channels. After the ban Buzzcut decided it's time to take a stand and lead a boycott on PS2 because of all the things he suddenly feels is wrong with the game. Whether he's right or wrong about PS2's problems, the timing of his boycott only says one thing. The guy was butthurt about his ban and wanted to flex some power for Sony, and probably more so for himself, so he put TE on hold, got some of his followers to boycott the game. You know the rest. Sheep being sheep.
I don't mind being the underdog faction so I'm keeping up the fight for oppression, but I have noticed a lot of TR guys favoring their NC alts lately including TE's top pilot, but at least they're fun to fight.
back when i somewhat quit playing pl2, there were two main issues i had with the game: -infantry render distance, which is simply crippling to a game thats all about massive battles (infiltrators...) -optimization was terrible.
have those two issues be adressed by now? game has a lot of potential

Renderdistance has increased a lot and the game now runs a lot better on my old machine, but YMMV, there are some people that still have trouble.

If nothing else he's good at advertising.
I'd never heard of him or TE, really, before playing Planetside 2 and it seems he was mentioned practically everywhere.
Naturally, one day I sought out his stream to see what all the fuss was about. In the span of 30 minutes, I heard a lot of pretty 'interesting' stuff. Most memorable was someone recounting the story of their grandfather or uncle "killed a wetback" and reported it to the police like a good citizen (oh and apparently 'wetback' isn't a racist term so it's ok to say it). Also someone said "I don't have much respect for women, but..." being completely serious (and no one took any issue with this).
No matter what you think of buzz - his stream, his outfit, and the community surrounding him are distasteful garbage.
Shot a 4-month-used 6870 this week for just 80 bucks, actually allows me to play the game on more than 1440x900 low settings. Wow, this actually looks quite nice. Have 3 1280x1024 DVI monitors, gonna get an active DP adapter and try eyefinity on that :D
So I tried the game a bit again, I'm a bit torn about all the Game Updates, some things were done right, some wrong.
The major issue I have is that the most fun this game makes within a community, which I don't have ingame. Just one barely organized squad on TS makes this game 10 times better than it already is. Whatever, I'll keep on searching for that elusive moment of glory
Most of my problems currently seem to be the fact that making new friends outside of pre-existing communities on your main server is close to impossible if you either don't want to start completely over on a new character or pay money again.
Meeting new people elsewhere who also play the game just holds such a slim chance of having them not only being on the same server, but also on the same faction. It even happened to spawn problems with some of my closer friends since we had no coordination with the game release. Pretty frustrating.

Hey Rah you still BWCing?
Insolence is in it too, we've both been running with BWC's task force dragon (air). Still not sure how long we'll stick with it, but it works for now. I'll keep you in the loop if we get enough interest to re-open the TL outfit. For now I'll be running a (Mattherson, TR) TL.net squad on BWC's fuck off days. Whoever wants in on it can get in touch with me through PMs or in game. The next one will be on the 25th and on every date that ends with a 5.
Most of BWCs promo videos are cheesy, but they put a lot of work into them. Check out this one for task force ranger. If I was a ground guy I'd think they'd be fun to run with. Lots of gal drops and C4 usage.
so our TR newbs were too stupid to take Echo Valley, so I hid and deployed a Sundy down below behind the pipes and took the point. Took out 4 NC clowns and then got taken down.
