Could be serverside lag, I've experienced that before.

Kobra sights have 2 main advantages
1) The 'T' is a very good movement gauge. you can easily follow/predict enemy movement across your screen just from the sights. How much to adjust for the gun is easily readable from the T.
2) Middle of the T = Headshot territory. just put someone's neck on the T, get lots of headshots, especially since bullets climb. the 1st shot hit the torso/neck, 2nd shot into the head for a kill.

If you're a decent player and can win at least 2/3's of your duels you can easily reach 600 if you just consistently try. If you ever troll around in games or have games where you don't try at all, it's obviously never going to get very high. Simply play well, excell at everything in the game and don't fool around.
What about transportation from area to area? Do you just run on foot or do you try to find a vehicle (which seems a lot harder to find than in 2142).
In the last week or so I've found my SPM to be around ~550 each game (including medals, etc). I can probably attribute some of my overall low SPM to me forcing myself to snipe, which used to be a huge weak point for me in FPS, and flying choppers, which I was also terrible at before.
I just don't spawn in places that don't allow me to quickly get into action. Look at the minimap and select a point so you can see if there's any vehicles before you spawn. Spawn on a squadmate close to action or simply spawn on a point that's actually close to the enemy rather than your main base.
If you happen to get screwed over by the spawn system and end up with no transport and far from action, simply suicide instead of wasting 3 minutes on running or waiting.
Just apply your real life logic to gaming and it works out just fine. You want to become more efficient, do whatever it takes to become more efficient.

I personally don't (I like holo and PKA the best), but most guys use it because A) It's on par for fastest ADS, B) It tracks fast from side to side while ADS, and C) It's more open for peripheral vision than holos (because holos actually zoom in a slight bit, I think 1.5x iirc)
Also I finally unlocked all the guns and got the AS VAL. Whoever recommended that is a gangster. I like that gun a lot.
I've spent the last couple of weeks grinding with subs and autoshottys to the M98 for recon and it is awesome. I've now started support. What's the consensus on best support gun??

I honestly can't use anything other than the M249. I've given the other guns a go and I just can't seem to win as many 1on1s with them. Should give them all a shot though! =p
Yeah that's what I was eventually planning to do. I just find to use them very situationally. I prefer to lurk around corners and get the jump on people rather than wait there with a bipod. Only certain maps I will do that. Pulling up is way too slow with machine guns for my taste
Huge amount of info just surfaced from Dice regarding the patch. Wall of text http://www.enterbf3.com/news/738-latest-patch-fixes-released/. Lots of changes, most of them minor, but some game changers also, like flares now working vs laser guided missiles.
5 C4 on front, 1 C4 on back. Get shotgun with Explosive Rounds. Drive it into a tank, jump out the back, shoot the C4 in the back with your shotgun. When the car blows up, and subsequently the tank or whatever -- it says you killed the tank with a shotgun. Fun times to be had.
If you want a real challenge, fly to the enemy carrier and toss C4 on their helicopter. C4 remains after death, get in another jet and wait until it takes off. Jump out of the jet, and shoot the helicopter as you zip by it out of the jet shoot it with your shotgun. If successful, you will blow up a helicopter with the C4, and it will say by your shotgun.

The MG36 is a very well rounded gun with low kick compared to the other MGs. Give it a try if you have it.

I agree. As far as support goes, there are two types of players: assault-rifle hybrid gunners (IAR/RPK/MG36) and true HMG gunners (everything else). I fall into the first category. I have more kills with the IAR (foregrip/holo/supressor) and it's what I used to get my service stars and unlocks, but since the MG36 rolled around, I find I like it a bit better (same attachments).
"-Semiautomatic weapons will no longer "jam" if the player presses fire faster than the weapon is capable of shooting. Some semi-automatic weapons have had their rates of fire adjusted to fit this change. "
Just noticed that, if they made it closer to BF2 then the DAO-12 will be a beast again :'D
I like the PKP pecheng best , it has a decent long range accuracy when firering in bursts or single shots , even with a foregrip. at close range , because this gun does 34 damage <10 meters the time to kill will be ridicoulus , because of you only need 3 hits.
that being said , i still use the AS VAL for support
-Shotgun Buck and Flechette rounds now have a less suppressive effect at medium to long range. -Tweaked the damage levels of Buck and Flechette rounds to balance them with other weapons. -Fixed the Rate of Fire when the USAS and MK3A1 are equipped with FRAG rounds. All other shotguns correctly had a reduced rate of fire with frags, except the USAS and MK3A1. The spread for Flechette rounds has been reduced slightly on all shotguns.
FUCKIN FINALLY. USAS is ridiculous, even if I grinded the shiit out of it recently. All the shotguns got a lot of nerfs. It was ridiculous how effective they were outside of the range that they should be good.
God, now I have to farm 10 more kills for the AS VAL for the extended mags to unlock everything.
My thinking of the patch notes:
-Total nerf to the shotguns from 12 to 9 pellets except for the 870MCS. There's still no reason to not use the 870 with all the advantages already with the tighter spread than the other semi-auto shotguns. DICE getting it wrong with the changes of the shotguns, they should've stayed the same as shotguns were supposed to be a <10 m fighting machine, but now the change forces you to basically camp spawn for kills.
-No comment on the LMGs as I don't really play them much, but I think they are good enough to survive the changes and make them differentiate.
-No change to the M4A1 is silly, as this will still be the premier carbine to use unless there are drastic number changes to the other weapons, except the A-91 for hip spray. Do like the change to the AKS-74u, the main problem was the recoil compared to the M4A1 as default carbine. Dislike how every gun is somewhat compared to the G36C for fixing, as that's not the gun that's the best, but G36C is the gun that's inferior to the M4A1.
-No change to the M16A3 is silly as well, still the premier rifle to use with the AEK-971's changes. M416 no change means that this gun is inferior to the M16A3, not going to be used. AEK-971 nerf was fine, but without a corresponding M16A3 nerf, not going to be used as much, even if at all. L85A2 is a gun that I've always aimed well at with lower RPM, now with better accuracy is going to be probably my 2nd favorite gun.
-SMG changes are good, PDW-R needed a recoil change with its low magazine count. Wish DICE would change extended mags for it to 41 rounds, instead of 31 to make this perk viable. Indifferent towards the AS VAL changes.
-The attachment changes for the guns are fine, as this was expected to be the changes from DICE for the community.
-NO MORE MAV ELEVATORS. God, these were annoying on Karkand with the only way being to counter snipe or mortar.
-Using knives to kill equipment is great, don't need to spend bullets killing them now.
-Claymores lasting only 5 seconds after death is two-sided, I liked them when I used this tactic, hated when other people use it. Now, it's fair for both.
-Disagree with the Ammopack change, mostly because now this allows players to camp indefinitely. Should've changed so that med kits disappear after a while without redeployment to prevent anti-camp measures. Increasing the heal rate of the med pack, if anything they should decrease the heal rate for them, as good players would abuse the med pack too much.
-Dislike the Mortar change, as the team is sacrificing a player to suppress and kill in exchange for mobility. The penalty is big enough as a team already, now exposing them to fire means there's no incentive to mortar instead of being a mobile support spamming C4/Claymores.
Most other changes are fine and dandy, with fall damage being tweaked.
-AA Missiles should no longer kill the pilot instead of the vehicle. -Reduced the damage AA missiles do to jets to 45%. -The IGLA and Stinger now lock on much more quickly and disable an attack aircraft in 1 hit, but have significantly reduced range. This should allow Stingers to mount an effective close range point defense, without dominating an entire airspace. -Guided Rockets will now only track ground targets, as originally intended. -Slightly reduced the damage of Jet cannons against Aircraft. Damage is now only slightly higher than it was originally at launch.
-Flares for Jets and Choppers now reload at 11 seconds again, except for the gunner, which remains unchanged at 20sec. -Below Radar will now also prevent the lock on of Stinger and IGLA missiles. -Flares now more reliably distract missiles, especially for Helicopters. -Laser Guided missiles can now be distracted by Flares.
tytytyty
-Increased the speed of the Helicopter AA missiles lock on to reduce the tedious nature of Helicopter dogfights and improve the Helicopter's defensive abilities vs Jets. -Flares will no longer break the lock of a vehicle that is locked on, it will only distract the missiles. -Increased the locking distance for AGM Missiles for Jets when locking on laser designated targets. -Reduced the locking time for the AGM Missiles for Jets to make them more viable against ground targets. -Reduced the locking time for AA Missiles for Jets to make them more viable against air targets. -Fixed the SU-35 firing Air to Air missiles at a lower rate of fire than other vehicles. -Adjusted the F35's Center of Mass and Hover Engine for more stable, level flight in all flight modes. -Updated the F35 weapon systems to be consistent with the other Jets. -The F35 will now only attempt to enter Hover at low altitudes, though it will maintain the hover until forward flight is resumed, even if it reaches high altitude. -The F35 and SU35 now properly have Ejection seats to prevent players from being killed when exiting the vehicle. -The MAV will no longer destroy vehicles that run into it, instead it should be destroyed. -Jet and Helicopter collisions should now properly result in the death of both vehicles. -Players will no longer receive suicides or team kills if they crash their vehicle (dying is punishment enough). -Fixed several bugs with air vehicles colliding with objects at high speeds and taking no damage.

to be fair, I was upsetting people by dodging their stingers over and over continuously without flares and then telling them they just spent millions of e-dollars that could have been used for e-textbooks by trying to shoot me down so I guess that nerf is ok ^>^ The buffs are really good, ESPECIALLY that jet cannon nerf. stupid how 90% of my deaths were from disables because people shooting at me as we flew by each other
but whats the deal with the claymores? arent claymores supposed to shut down paths when youre not there? sounds like you really have to play super passive with support.
buff for g36c and f2000 is nice , but what happens now with the an-94? do we keep the heavy barrel 2shot special ?
also i really wanna see how this faster air missile lock works out together with the other changes. sounds to me like it will be much easier to get shut down by worse pilots now.
