I had the sickest play last night, not in terms of results, but in terms of "cool as shit" factor:
So I'm playing Caspian out of a squad, running from B to A (that's Checkpoint to Antenna) across the big grassy expanse. Before I can get to the safety of some rocks, an enemy jeep pulls outta nowhere with 2 guys in it. The gunner is trying to take me out while the driver is circling around me. I make a moving headshot on the gunner and take him out, so the driver speeds off towards Antenna. While he's escaping, I gun the back of his jeep and it becomes disabled, so he pulls ahead into some rocks and bails out on the high ground. He's got a heavy machine gun, so I see him go prone and he just starts showering my position with lead. I duck in behind one of those concrete support things that holds the cables attached to the antenna tower after I empty a half clip at the guy, not hitting him. Meanwhile, this attack helicopter comes in and starts raining rockets down on my position, so I shift behind my cover to avoid being hit by the rockets. Just as I'm reloading, and getting pelted with rockets and machine gun fire, the jet from our side comes in from the sky and kamikazes right into the machine gunner attacking me, saving my life and causing a bitchin' fireball. The helicopter lets off and flies away, and I proceed towards A again. Truly it was a "Only in Battlefield" moment.
I love this fucking game!

Cool.
A lot of stuff like this would happen in older battlefields.
The more dense the area is, the less epic moments happen. Unless you call getting 10 kills with grenade epic.
I remember hiding from walkers with my squad in trenches, running under heavy gunfire and surviving in the end. the most scary moment of gaming... I really felt the breath of death there.
I remember the days squads actually would stick together

Outside of Wake, which is kind of meh, I don't see why people hate the BF2 remake maps. Those are all my favorites by far.
Gulf of Oman's one major lame thing that I can think of is that the tower near the one base allows you to absolutely crush the opposing team's air support if you get up on that tower with a full squad and go recon soflam, 2x engi and a assault for revives and health. Lock that down and it is so goddamn difficult to get up there, and by the time you do, you're probably down a solid 75 tickets already
That sounds like a sweet bf moment.
My favorite was on Caspian, after having a solid round in a heli, I'm getting shot down and bail, and I get a rocket kill on my way down. To top it off, I land right on someone on a roof and Rambo his throat out
That is fun to do on Canals, if you get a beacon up on B

What are your guys key mapping setups for the jet?

I really fucking hate Oman. It's overall just such a shit design when you take into account the game is no longer BF2. First off, vehicles in this game are much stronger with both all the added perks and the stronger repair tools and more available squad spawn points. This means that anyone outside of a vehicle on that map is completely fucked, perhaps outside of the many useless as all hell snipers that do nothing anyways. Additionally, some idiot at Dice thought it'd be smart to implement an obviously air dominated map that for some reason has no anti-air. Really?
Altogether this means that any team that gets behind, be it in the airstruggle, losing points with vehicle spawns etc. is just so royally fucked that they're unlikely to come back from the deficit.
Wake is just a sniperfest way too often. Snipers are better than they were in BF2/1942, so it's easier for noobs to just sit back and be useless and in term lose you the game. It gets old, fast. Sharqi and karkand I enjoy most of the time, just as I did in BF2.
What I find even more disturbing is that people completely migrated to basically "B2K only" servers after it released, regardless of map quality. Like what is the point in only playing 4 maps in the game when there are so many others that offer much more variety. Kharg, Firestorm and Caspian are all better designed vehicle maps given BF3 mechanics than Wake and Oman. I don't understand people at all, but then again the majority suck.

With 21.3% accuracy its by far my best gun. oh good for you :D I never try to go over 200 spm, I only play in kahrg and I would like to decrease, by bigger maps. I have unlocked everything I need fgor this game, from now on, I will try to have fun But I probably will not since the game devolved so much and turned into the way I dont want this to be(RUN_N_GUN) 2142 was much more fun and worked well, but there are no servers left.
Hey i saw your thread on battlelog forums, i didnt comment since im pretty bad at predicting how maps play out or giving advice what should be made better. But i want to say that i like that you unlike most people in the bf3 community try to make something constructive instead of whining and being rude. And for what its worth i love big maps caspian and kharg are by far my favourite maps in this game and imo it doesnt need to stop there with the size.
I also have something to say on teamwork. Imo the game itself is not the only factor why teamwork is less existant in this game than in the older BFs. Ofcourse there is no voip and and commander wich would help but the main problem is the community and amount of casuals in this game who just dont care for these features (there were several threads on battlelog forums and many people dont even want voip) or teamwork at all. In the end the game itself doesnt punish teamwork, if a team works together they usually crush the competition in pubs. I hope (and believe) that once the ultra casuals get bored of the game and more and more people start to understand what this game is all about, things will get better.

I like Karkand and Sharqi too. Wake, like you said is kinda meh, mostly because it feels so linear. The map would be a little better if there were boats at E and A. Oman is a good map theoretically but more often than not half of each team are snipers who camp construction site (E). And the war is decided by who has the better vehicle drivers. I mainly play assault but on this map i always use engineer because it feels like im always fighting 3 tanks at the same time while there is no one i could revive.
@Divine-Sneaker: Its strange that you only find B2K servers because for me its the opposite. Most of the servers are 24/7 op metro (i would take B2K only servers over that any given day). And then there are a lot of Caspian/Kharg/Firestorm Servers (the ones i play). Sometimes its really hard for me to find a B2K server that doesnt lag.

Boats would help, but it would still feel so linear because the ground is where you're spend a lot of time and you just get funneled. I'm a sucker on xbl, so I get stuck playing it no matter what time to time and it is ok, but it's definitely far from my favorite. I loved it in 1942 though.

I am actually concerned about the aftermath of CoD communitys leaving. Those guys change games so fast. To keep them here the game dumbed down, but the death of this game will be too fast, since the rest, Pre BC people, will leave it and stop whining about it for ever.(My foresight, maybe everyone stays and the old comunity leaves, but it is not really possible for now )
Old community should not be hated, those guys make these games live so many years.
Your last sentence is true.
I am also planning to post that thread on EAUK forums. That is the most civilised and mature part of the community (Guess who are them)

What would be really cool is if they stuck a big stationary boat in the bay area and put an objective on it. Then gave boats to the RU team...
Yes I am aware that no boat would be able to entre water that shallow, so maybe make it a sunken ship (like the one in Sienne as a Rush objective).

how broken is this game? I bought it 3 days ago and nothing is working at all! my buddies can't invite me via battlelog, I get stuck in infinite loading screens and after 10mins of playing the game is starting to lag because it's using all of my RAM until it finally crashes. and no1 on the official forums seems to have as solution for all those problems >___>
|
Well the RAM is your computer, the game does have bugs and shortcomings, and can crash, but if you have a decent computer, regularly (and manually) update punkbuster, and pick decent servers then you can have hours upon hours of good times ^_^
|
I got 8gigs of memory dude. so at its highpoint (moments before it's gonna crash me to the desktop) bf3 is using _6.5gigs_. srsly?

I'm wondering sometimes whether I should keep playing Rush games or not. They seem fun if both teams know, or mostly the attackers know what they are doing. It's fast-paced and there's more forced action, leading to more kills. I also wonder what's the hardest objective to take, so I'm going to include a poll.
Poll: Hardest Rush Objective?Seine Crossing-First Objective (Only B left) (3) 60% Kharg Island-First Objective (1) 20% Other (1) 20% Seine Crossing-Final Objective (0) 0% Damavand Peak-Last Objective (0) 0% Metro-Third Objective (0) 0% 5 total votes Your vote: Hardest Rush Objective? (Vote): Seine Crossing-First Objective (Only B left) (Vote): Seine Crossing-Final Objective (Vote): Kharg Island-First Objective (Vote): Damavand Peak-Last Objective (Vote): Metro-Third Objective (Vote): Other
Personally, I think Damavand Peak-Final Objective is the hardest Rush mode ever, mostly because there's only 4 avenues of attack, and all of them face a single direction. Also, the enemy has a tank to fight your own tank, and the hallways are going to be camped. I've seen totally incompetent teams that can't hold the first 4 objectives with the attacking team losing less than 20 tickets succumb to the easy defense of the MCOMS.

The key to the final mcom is to have someone fly the little bird into the tunnel and rape face.
I've had a few rounds where the defenders stole our tank, retarded I know, but we won by flying in and camping each mcom with the little bird.

talking about stealing tanks in Damavand Peaks, i have this story to tell.
So this day I was in a tank, while i had 2 other buddies on the voice comm,on same squad as me. We were talking, but holding the C(i play 5 flags) tunnel objective. We were doing a good job, but people on our team was asking me to move forward more. i told them to STFU and play my reasoning is simple, if i move myself too far up, i would be exposing myself to a LOT of engineer RPGs, which sucks if our tank was destroyed. Also the other tank was spotted, and i didnt want to lose my tank. Out of the blue one buddy suddenly called "DUDE I STOLE THEIR TANK! HAHAHAA" It appears that the enemy team had a fool who was ALONE in the tank, got blasted and jumped out to repair. He was promptly gunned down and the tank stolen from him. My buddies was a engineer, he immediately repped that tank and stole it.
im sure you all know how Damavand peak is actually very hard to push through the tunnels. One main reason was due to the tank. If its alive you can be sure its going to be tough trying to break through. Once the tank was stolen however, we were like LETS GOGOGOOOOO, both tanks broke through the line and captured every single objective. It was a massacre on a epic scale, both tanks went rolling through and it was unstoppable. fking epic BF3 moment when the voice comms were filled with us saying "gogogo! we stole their tank lets go!" and rushing through like a boss with everything going right for us. It was like everyone suddenly exploded into action immediately once my buddy called out that he stole the tank haha.
Tanks are a fking beast force multiplier.

Kharg Island's first objective on Squad Rush 4v4 if noob tubes are not banned, and even then it is a hard one.

finally gave the an 94 a try after all the praise i read here. and gotta say after a very rough start i begin to understand why people like it. its great to have a gun that just hits where you aim. ofc it still has huge drawbacks but it starts to rival my lovely f2000 (yeye m16 best... BORING!) as my fav medic gun.
i mean i just did like 150kills with it but 26+% accuracy speaks for itself.
|
The hardest M-COM by far is the last one on Sharqi in the TV station. If that is properly defended, especially with claymores there is just no way. You can have a ton a guys in the room itself, more covering the stairs and one or two covering the balcony. That said, if the attackers do successfully break through and plant it, disarming it may be equally as hard.
@BeManner: Yeah, the AN-94 is amazing. Once you get comfortable with it, anyone stationary or a sniper become almost free kills and the gun is very gentle on the recoil. I use it purely on the 2 round burst fire, as everyone should, as it has 1200 RPM on that mode and with a heavy barrel it has no bullet deviation at all other than bullet drop.
|
AN94 so good longrange, but its honestly garbage close range o_O Still it does the job so I give it an A+
I'm sorta getting out of jets and moving back into infantry, infantry is much funner and I enjoy it more. Can someone tell me a rifle with good ironsights if there are any? I don't really see the point to optics on assault rifles unless its the AN94 considering the ironsights zoom in the fastest
So far I think silenced L85 is my favourite gun, but I'm liking unsilenced no optics AEK
edit - also with this high resolution my graphics keep artifacting o_O sigh i think i need something other than stock cooling
|
AEK, AS VAL, M4A1 and RPK work best for me without sights. Also i never use anything other than Kobra on ARs and Carbines. With the AN you can just line up the top of the "Dorito" with the upper edge of the "T" at long and very long distance and you always hit the head if you have heavy barrel equiped. Btw i just got service star 50 with it and cant imagine to switch to any other gun anymore. I disagree with your statement Teivospy that its garbage in CQC. I think it just has a lower skill floor than a AEK for example. If you can hit two quick bursts to the head constantly you can outgun every other AR, PDW and Carbine. In fact AN-94 is a semi auto sniper rifle with up to 1200rpm. Also in my experience most of the very close engagements arent decided by who has the better gun but who has the lag advantage. Maybe i just suck big time at CQC but to me it seems as if there is a huge random factor in this situations. One round i kill players who are better than me again and again in the next round i get killed by every gun and player no matter how fast and accurate i aim, with whatever gun and how good my opponent is. This is why i dont really care about the CQC qualities of guns anymore, in the end i feel like i have a 50/50 chance no matter what equipment i have or how good im playing at the moment. Frontal CQC engagements should be avoided anyway, its much better to flank the enemy or take him out from a longer distance.
