Amen to that. Sometimes it's just like heli/plane parts crashing down on you, but the camera just doesn't show how you died. Not to mention mortar spam in so-called no-mortar servers. I would love to have the option to unlock the camera from your killer so you can pinpoint where exactly he is camping.

haha, yes, this, the consistent spawning in front of tanks etc.., and some other details make the game pretty glitchy and casual imo. Getting kills is not as rewarding as in a competitive fps, since there are so few aim duels. Rather than aim you just need to get lucky and see the other dude first. It gets a bit better if you find a server where people do a lot of teamplay and play in squads, but thats usually rare on the public servers I've seen so far.
Still fun to play every once in a while with some firends, since graphics and overall atmosphere are pretty good.

while you can have bad spawns it also helps to look at the screen/map before you spawn. if a base is under heavy attack and you join there dont expect to live long.
also i dont see the big difference between bf3 and other "realistic" shooters. in all you kill very fast and if you see them first you win . still going for headshots often makes the difference.. also the "see dude first" while sometimes random is a huge part of the skill. reading enemy movement, watching the minimap, avoiding obvious/open spots, observing whats going on around you etc all help a TON at spotting enemys first.
public servers are hit or miss like in any online game. sometimes you get awesome close matches and sometimes you have a team full of headless chickens.
for me improving in this game is way more rewarding then in most of other shooters out there (except the true skillgames like quake) since there are so many different situations and so many different skills to master. yeah its different then playing dust the 10000th time and just keeping your crosshair on that one corner till someone comes around. but thats the good thing about it, not a bad one :>
btw am i the only one that loves the F2000? handles great, dominated on close range and with short burst you can very reliably hit at mid range too. aek was my fav before but somehow the f2000 just works better for me. also i have the highest kills/min and highest assault rifle accuracy with it.
I dropped it after the patch where they increased it's recoil, was an absolute monster before it though. I find it slightly weird that it's your most accurate assault rifle though, guess you haven't used the lower RPM assault rifles or something.
L85A2 all the way when playing assault for me now, sitting at over 21% accuracy which is so much higher than with my other assault rifles.
yeah i pretty much avoided the low rpm rifles. they just seem to lack punch in the cq situations i find myself in when playing medic.

Thats called hacking mate
I just wish there would be more servers without killcam... : /

Hmm so after recommendation I recently picked up the mp7, and omg that gun is beastly, feels like the ump with more damage, anybody else have that experience?
Also working on getting service stars for each class, only recon left, and I try to play recon using recon weapons, but I really really hate it. Takes so much time/practice/bad games to learn the distances, and it just doesn't seem...fun? So will pretty much just SCAR or MP7 until USAS, then be a loser with the USAS or AS VAL until I have the service star, before dedicating myself to what is probably the best class (engie)...
Also anybody else slightly over karkand? I mean gulf of oman and sharqi are great, wake is awful (imo), but Karkand is just a bit crap imo. Then again Caspian is one of my fave maps now and Tehran not so much any more, so maybe experience has changed how I play and what maps I like...

I haven't used the MP7 much, but I find the best PDW in my experience right now is the PP-19. Really good rate of fire and a big starting clip size. All I have left is recon for service stars (I'm on the last unlock for it), so I've been using the PP-19 for all my close quarters maps lately. It holds up at range, which is really nice.
BTW, sniping is so much easier with the M98B... like retardedly easy. There's practically no bullet drop on that thing, it really removes any challenge. Which sucks, since I've been getting used to sniping so much with the other bolt-actions. One thing I've prided myself on is my ability to guage bullet drop over long distances, but now it's not necessary. Bummer.
I find the Karkand maps still good, but I'd say gulf of oman is definately getting tiresome. Can't believe you think Strike at Karkand is crap, it's probably my fav map of the expansion.
Finally: Am I the only one who still gets a kick out of the knife animatics for the knife takedown? Still so cool and brutal...

Since it tends to glitch out alot, with 10 mtr commando lunges and everything included. No I'm not really excited for them :/.

It was cool to see the first ten times, now I just wish it didn't take so damn long and honestly (forgive me, for I have sinned), I wish it were more like CoD in that respect. I don't even go for the knife anymore, I just shoot them.

dunno i still like em. ofc its more of a gimmick but it looks and feels awesome. also the helpless feeling when you get grabbed from behind and have to watch how he stabs you really makes the knifing in this game quite cool.
about the 98b , i wouldnt call it retardedly easy. yeah its easier to use and below 300m youre pretty much fine with just letting the crosshair sit on the enemy head. but lets be honest, once youre used to a rifle those shots are easy anyways. and doing headshots on moving targets 250m++ away is still quite hard.
yesterday got my medic s.star, plan to get engineer one today/tomorrow (im at like 95%) and then do the remaining 40% on support next days. then only helis and mobile AA etc are left ~~ btw claymores are amaaazingly fun. never really used them but yesterday i defended the mountain top on caspian with support so why not use mines. got like 10 kills in that round just with mines giggling like a stupid kid evrytime the killmessage popped up outta nowhere.
I posted a few pages back complaining about recon sucking, but I was told to practice more. So I did.
In the beginning, I thought it was all bs. Hitting headshots at 200 meters on the first try? Crazy!! Headshots at 300 with 1 shot? Stop lying!
However, 60 hours later and tanking my k/d to 0.5 and spm to 198, I think I finally figured out how to shoot. Now I can kill anything stationary within 400 meters in 1 shot. Hitting moving targets at range seems to be impossible if they are not running in a straight line.
I gotta say recon isn't for everyone. Most people will probably never get that service star because recon requires that you be damned good to be useful. It alsO requires more points for the star with the lowest inherent spm.
Those 60 hours of grinding were the most painful hours of gaming in a long time. So many 0-20 rounds while trying to kill stuff with those horrible auto snipers and the garbage called the sv98.
Now I just have to play support. I have 855 points with it do far, but machine guns just don't appeal to me.
If you really want to level recon you should spam rush. Its much easier to snipe when people are gathered in one place, heading towards you, and are being distracted by your team mates.

Try to unlock MG36 from Karkand assignments, feels almost like an assault rifle with bigger clip. And don't be afraid to C4 tanks even if it might get you killed.

about the first vid: this is NOT how you play recon properly. YES he has good aim and some nice series but nothing very uncommon. this footage is heavy cut together and no one can say how many games he had to play for it all.
the reason why i say its not how you play recon well is that i dont see any spawn beacons and motion sensor in either enemy attack path or behind them. a recon who flanks with spawn beacon and covers important areas with the motion sensor is really scary for the other team. the sniper footage in the first vid is just someone playing COD style sniping in bf3 - not very usefull
