Skyrim is going to be sick, and installation size is the last thing I'm worried about, although let's not forget that 6 GB for a game like that is pretty small. Very efficient design and compressing. If people are actually not going to buy the game just because of the file size, which is actually quite small looking at games today, then they were never actually interested in getting Skyrim in the first place. Simple as that.

^ Should clear some thing sup. Yeah I think that the file size would be of a concern...had we not seen pictures and videos of the game running. All people are saying about the small file size is that it won't look good, but playable versions of the game disagree so I don't even see what the point is.

Its only 6gb?! I'm canceling my preorder right away. I was expecting this game to consume my entire 500gb hdd!
I'll say this though, Bethesda has a long history of releasing short teasers and picture where the quality is 10x better than what you'll see in game. So don't expect it to be as pretty as some of those photos you've seen. That probably wont stop it from being GOTY though.

If I understood it correctly, you've got it backwards. People are(supposedly) cancelling pre-orders because they think 6gb is too small.

I do think 6gb is awefully small considering Skyrims development period , however you should keep in mind that they completely remake the engine from the ground up with every new game, so it's space efficiency should be great.
Rage was over 100gb pre-compression just for the record Post compression- Rage was 20gb In other words, if you know any specs about the new rage engine, you shouldn't worry that Skyrim is 'only' 6gb. (We're talking unique textures that are used maybe once each and fill up space for little to no good reason, Rage has an insane amount of artwork put in considering the gameplay.)

That seems crazy small to me but ive seen such variation in game size over the last few years it really doesn't tell much.
|
6 GB seems very small... I'm almost a bit worried the game isn't going to be as extensive as I had hoped.
|
That or Bethesda are programming masters and can compress like nobody's business.

They're afraid that the game will have very little content, not that the game is compressed very efficiently...
Also with 6GB and considering Bethesda has blatantly LIED about nearly EVERYTHING they were going to do in their production process of games AND even put videos of it out on the internet. I am worried indeed.

Specifically what? The size of the file doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the size of the game.
|
i'm pretty sure 11/11/11 is going to be the most unproductive day in USA history.

Well it's a Friday so not much would be done anyway.

Who cares what the size of the install will be. They have probably pulled off some crazy good compression is more like it. Don't be fooled, this game is huge!!!

The only bad thing I saw about the game till now is this screenshot: http://www.ripten.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/RiftenGuard.png Highly repetitive dirt and awful tower in background. Everything else looks amazing.
But in the end we all played Oblivion/Fallout and survived bad looking characters, we dont play ES for it's graphics. Gameplay is the thing why we wait and wait till 11/11/11

Dude your link is dead.
I'm not really worried about Skyrim's graphics. Remember it wont have any cut-scenes and super high res textures don't matter as long as the person drawing them is pretty good at what he/she is doing.
