A few hours in, and I stumble across sightless cave while just running around exploring.
I'm level 5 at the moment.
I haven't been manually saving, because I haven't run into any problems that I couldn't just run away from.
Fuck.
Change difficulty settings, and you will be running :/
I got out in less than an hour. And gained 3 levels in the process.
I didn't change difficulty settings, I just had to be very careful isolating them one by one. The part where there are 2 of the mage-type guys was a battle of attrition though, I used most of my potions to get through there. Once I got nearer to the end, I just ran for it.
Grabbing one of their bows, plus some pretty good arrows from a previous cave that I also shouldn't have been in yet helped a lot. Bow and arrows powerful in Skyrim.
On the bright side, I now have a pretty good bow, a good sword, and some good arrows on hand. Probably a lot better than I should have right now.
Overall, that was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. I liked the challenge.

It's not possible to find something better than you "should" in unmodded Skyrim. It isn't like Morrowind where you can, for example, earn yourself a daedric weapon at level 1. You have to be level 46 before those even exist in Skyrim.

Actually, that's not entirely true.
It is possible to earn daedric weapons earlier than level 40 in some dungeons, I managed to snag a bow at 36 in a dungeon near Markarth,

No. They dront drop before Level46 or 50 I think. But you can craft them really early if you abuse the overpowered Crafting-System.
anyone else coming up with this glitch at warmaidens in whiterun?? attached in the link is a short video i made of what happens... very frustrating, and im not sure what has caused it, i havent subbed to any different mods. ive added some further details in the description of the video. hopefully someone is able to give me some tips to fixing this, without trying another re-install
I played the SHIT out of Skyrim when it first came out. But once I got to OP mode where I'm level 50 and 1-hit killing everything on the hardest difficulty while having infinite money because of Smithing and OP gear because of Enchanting... I dunno I just couldn't care to play it anymore when it wasn't challenging. Was still worth my $60 though, entertained the shit out of me for 3 weeks so can't complain.
I can't believe it took me this long to realize how amazing this game is. I had bought it on release, but I actually got bored of it fairly quickly (I was still playing WoW at the time and later ToR). I picked it up again a week ago after being disillusioned hard with GW2 and I'm having indecent amounts of fun. The game is amazing by itself, but when you add-in all the extra possibilities and enchancements/fixes that mods bring, I honestly can't think of any RPG that comes close. Just an example of the modding community's creative genius and devotion: there is actually a mod out there that rewrites ALL the player dialogue to match the specific way that khajiit speak (if you're playing a khajiit, of course) and it's just the best thing ever, a role-player's dream come true with some amazing humor mixed in. Not to mention all the graphics and texture mods that make it the most beautiful game world I've ever seen and a joy to just stop and admire the scenery.
Oh, and since it's a single-player game, you can enjoy it at your own pace without getting pissed off when exploiters and speculators swim around in gold while you're struggling to farm enough to afford the fucking tier 1 cultural set. Fuck MMOs, <3 Skyrim
I played Skyrim a bit when it came out, but got bored really quick. The thing about Skyrim, and especially Oblivion, when you level up, mobs level up too (or substituted by stronger ones). So you become weaker as you level up. I'm not complaining about difficulty though, there are many ways to abuse OP stuff and win easily. But generally, as rpg fan, I love when mobs stay the same way, when you get stronger you kill them easy but there are locations hard as hell. You know what I mean: baldur's gate, gothic. I wish there was a mod for this. Maybe it already exists? Can anyone suggest?

SkyRe has that, which I use and recommend. Note that SkyRe also changes a ton of other stuff though (for the better imo). I imagine most major overhauls have a similar system implemented too. It should almost certainly exist as a standalone mod as well somewhere. Sorry I can't be more specific on that though TT

I use SkyRe now, but "back in the day" I used PISE.

After spending ~4 hours I got it finally working. This mod is a whole new game and its awesome! Whoever has done it I thank them endlessly. I also recommend it 100x over original Skyrim, it makes much better game experience. And Master level is unbeatable :D
Edit: Hmmm, I found a better mod for oldschool RPG fans - "Requiem - The Oldschool Roleplaying Overhaul ". Definitely, better that SkyRe.
The mods and modding capabilities of this game make buying the game so much worth it. Hours, days, weeks of extra content, some crappy, some really great and must haves.
It's like a swan song to Morrowind fans. Seeing the Telvanni and Redoran architecture brought chills down my spine. It's going to be really cool to get the new Morrowind-inspired armor sets. And the new creatures from Morrowind like Rieklings, Netches, and possibly even Corpus victims. Not to mention Dragon riding which will be fun.
This really makes me want to reinstall Morrowind again.
