Skyrim doesn't utilize steam cloud saves.

The only gripes I have were some minor glitches, like not fitting through doors as a Vampire Lord and Serana's shitty AI pathing (I had an easier time microing Dragoons and Vultures). And then there was the Soul Cairn. I believe this was the first time a video game level pissed me off so much since OoT's Water Temple. Which returns me to my opening statement of 'having beat most of Dawnguard'. I gave up on Saint Jiub's quest, because it was kind of like Barenziah's Stones in that there were no quest markers. Edit: At Torte: Yes. Dawnguard adds like 24 new areas. Well, the Soul Cairn was pretty fun, running around as a vampire lord smiting everything and all. The Durnheviir battle was also rather nice. I'm almost done with Dawnguard, crossbows as a vampire are pretty fun. Yeah, I let that one little sidequest ruin the entire experience for me. For some reason, I also got dizzy playing in that area on 3 separate occasions, something which doesn't happen unless I play FPS games. I liked the Reaper boss fight there, as well as Durnheviir, though. Allowed Serana to turn me into a Vampire Lord for that segment, and I realized I hadn't done the Morthal vampire sidequest chain, so I tried it. I would have been absolutely thrilled if there were extra dialogue/data added to allow you to tell Alva and the Vampire Master what a real vampire's power was.

It breaks nothing and makes the combat just a little bit more enjoyable, so you shouldn't play the game without it, even if you're starting the game for the first time on vanilla.

I thought after hitting 100 Smithing/Enchanting I would make me some enchanting gear to make myself stronger. After making myself a fortify smithing set, I started to work on it... And I ended up being OP. Mace of Molag Bal hits 380, Dawnbreaker hits 355....I was 2-3 shotting everything on master difficulty.. It wasn't fun. And I didn't even use the best potions alchemy has to offer, only the one sold in stores. So I went back to drawing board. I didn't make a fortify smithing set (I had one I used before with lower enchanting skill and greater gems, so its bonuses were lower, but I made use of it earlier on). I did only enchant one piece for fortify one handed damage, and focused on improving my resist magic, blocking, health/stamina regen, magicka, and fortify restoration. I didn't spend any points in Magicka so far (level 44) so I couldn't really cast apprentice level healing spells due to low mana. Now I can cast 2-3 of those spells before going OOM, and this is fairly balanced since I can't really spam it, and in a tough fight, after 2-3 heals I need to start chugging potions. I still hit fairly hard but it's balanced. My strongest weapon hits 167, which is strong but not OP like the 385 mace.... I still have to hit stuff to kill it, and I need to fight. I can cast better restoration spells, and I have some magic regen from my enchants along with some health regen, but I am not really OP now. I am very resistant to magic damage because I had fights where I got 2 shotted by Dragon Priests, I wanted to prevent that. Being powerful at high levels is good, but being OP isn't fun. I think now with this setup, I managed to make a fairly strong but balanced endgame character. What are your guys suggestions on dealing with this kind of problem with skills? What did you do to prevent this?

As discussed early in this topic, avoid enchanting, smithing and alchemy IMO. They are there only to make you horribly OP without taking a significant investment to level up, in fact you end up massively on the positive resource wise from leveling alchemy as it's the biggest money maker in the game. This way you also don't eliminate your reason to explore every cave and ruin as you can actually find gear upgrades opposed to crafting BIS equipment in town without ever exploring a cave

Is there a mod out there that let's you start somewhere else, but WITH the basic fus shout learned/ dragons spawning etc.? I don't wan't to bother with the main quest and those first 45 minutes where you get to your ability to kill dragons and learn shouts is pretty annoying.

I hate the fact that it's pointless for me to even loot chests, corpses etc., because it's impossible for an item to drop that's better than my crafted gear. I wish (maybe there is) for a mod that makes crafting more reasonable but to have the real treasures be in the world. I wish Skyrim had Diablo 2 item type stuff. That would be amazing to find sweet uniques with awesome abilities/stats etc.

The saves are infact stored on steam cloud. I just got my new computer today, and Skyrim was the first thing I installed and tested (was able to play on Ultra settings, Yay!). All my old saves were right there waiting for me when the install was finished. I'm amazed at how poor my experience was on the old computer, yet was still easily able to sink 20+ hours into exploring the world. Technically the old comp didn't even meet the minimum specs for Skyrim (my GPU needed like twice the Ram), so I was having issues like not being able to see archers that were too far away... Life is sooooo good now.

That said, I didn't progress too far down either quest line, certainly not far enough to see the repercussions of the choice in the big picture (although I'm getting the gist of it, ie how it effects Empire and Dominion struggle etc).

It sucked that in one of the two locales where the more personal Empire v Stormcloak argument paints the issue in a more Stormcloak positive light, Graymane v Battleborn in Whiterun, siding with Stormcloaks in the war ends up replacing probably the best Jarl (Balgruuf) with an idiot (Vignar). From a story perspective it was pretty disappointing. I had expected a harder decision, and they could have made it one with something simple like not including the Thalmor-Stormcloak connection and making the empire a more dubious deal for the interests of Skyrim. Or make Ulfric closer to something legit rather than TES rendition of strongman-hyping-perceived-outside-enemy-to-further-own-power-gain that real world history has made so cliche. That combined with the quest line that consisted of 2/3 "go to the fort, kill all the guys, rinse repeat" and it was a weak point in the game when they had built it up as a co-main quest type thing. *Except of course if they do a DLC/expansion pack/or even make it the topic of TESVI type thing in which case they probably will win field of fire style thanks to the Dragonborn and his/her new 'underlings'.

Got this mod too, but never saw anything of it because I play a Mage right now (as my 2nd char sind like ~6month) and compared to my first Melee-Char its not that exciting. And without a Magic-Mod that fixes Damage-Values etc it would be nearly impossible. Thanks to the modders who fixed all these things, without it the Game would be really bad in some areas. Maybe I should just craft me a Heavy Armor and use my Summoned Waraxe. :>
