First off, I have the game for 360 and have sunk about 200 hours into the game. My main question would be if there are enough mods or content available on the PC to warrant getting the game for $30. I only played 2 characters seriously (mage and an archer/theif) so if there are enough things to keep me interested in the PC version I could see myself sinking another 100+ hours in eventually. How much better are the graphics with mods? I've seen there are mods to get rid of the boring starting missions, is there anything else interesting content wise available? I'll probably end up getting it so I guess I'm more or less looking for someone to sell me on it again Yes, there's nigh infinite good user-generated content. As in new quest line, world modifications(War in Skyrim), new areas, new weapons. Heck, take any aspect of the game and there's a mod that adds more. This includes graphics. Awesome, this is what I had thought, its great to hear first-hand. Downloading it on Steam right now. Looking through the thread I see the SkyRe mod pops up a lot, anything else essential or recommended? Browsing through the Skyrim Nexus site linked in the OP and finding lots of cool stuff already.

Nevermind, was able to find it myself!

The Dance of Death is awesome.

i installed 2 mods that spawn battles and group of factions/monsters.
Changed the feel completely, im not mister superhero at level 5 anymore, i have to be really careful in the open now. I love it a lot.

I havnt been watching the development of skyrim mods for a while, has anything as awesome as OOO come out yet?

Does anyone have a modified .ini file that has everything maxed out? (75-100% beyond ultra-preset, 8-16gb RAM)

I haven't played this game since January. At some point I kinda got bored with the game and plus I had a really tough savepoint which somehow made my rig go crazy, which actually stopped rendering at times. My previous saves weren't that close so I just stopped playing altogether. I think it was the ridiculous amount of mods installed at that time.
Anyway, right now I came back and am looking forward to actually finishing the main story with my 1h-shield warrior.

Dawnguard has been released for PC today. http://store.steampowered.com/app/211720/
Question is, do I buy and start playing it tonight? I started a new character last week with a bunch of added mods, a conjurer/spellsword/shadowknight type. Should I wait for mods to update or will they pretty much be compatible? Or should I play without mods and use one of my two original characters I have that are high lvl and have completed the game?
|
I like to restart when trying new mods personally. I haven't heard any good reviews of Dawnguard though so I'm not sure it is worth picking up

50% off again on steam today, couldn't resist downloading it. Excited for the mods. Would you recommend playing through it vanilla first then modding it or going straight to mods??

Depends on which mods you want to play with. Any graphical or quality of life enhancements won't really affect the story line or anything and I would recommend them. I would steer clear of things like SkyRe for your first playthrough which completely overhauls most of the game systems, but it doesn't change the story at all. You could opt to just play with the superior game systems on SkyRe though (or any other overhaul mod).

SkyRe + Immersive Armor is awesome.

Does anyone have the latest version of ScriptDragon? I went today to download version 1.7 and the developer's website is down.

I had 90 hours logged in skyrim and realized I never actually finished the main quest or the factions quest. loaded up the game last night (first time since 2/9) and played around and did quests towards the dragonborn epic. I forgot how fast I lose myself in this game. Played for hours and went to bed late. I ended up buying the game for my gf since it was 50% off and she'd be dying to play it. She couldn't ever play it on my steam acct, because I'm always online playing dota. ~_~

Hey is Dawnguard worth the 19€?, i mean how many hours of content is with the new dlc / expansion or whatever you want to call it

Realistic lightning mods are great visually but in terms of gameplay, it's quite frustrating to fight enemies that are very tough to see, especially in dungeons.
|
I haven't actually seen any realistic lightning mods yet... all of them seem to go way overboard on saturation and I don't want to manually tinker around with that stuff.

I've been waiting for GW2 and for the past 2 weeks couldn't bring myself to play anything else (after BWE3 which was epic) but I think this is a nice time to see how Skyrim has evolved
21 days to play around with a new install, so I want to play user-made stuff.
So I'm wondering if there are any great total world mods?
I checked on Skyrim Nexus and I found several mods for : -Armors & Weapons, arrows, spells (several for each) -Mounts, enemies, dragons -More detailed world map -More detailed textures -New quests/etc
Now I imagine installing 10-20 mods will cause me a lot of problems with compatibility. That's why I'm wondering if there's a mod that does a really good overall job? What I really found lacking in Skyrim was the limited armor/weapon selection (especially there being only 1 end-game set and no way to transfer stats to a different skin) as well as the combat (few useful spells, same enemies in every dungeon).
Textures, world map and AI changes and such don't matter to me much. New quests/stories would be pretty cool too though.
What I'm thinking of adding right now : -SkyRe -Immersive Armors -SkyUI -High Quality World Map -Bellyaches' New Dragon Species -Skyrim Monster Mod
And then finding 1-2 mods with new quests... think that would could me issues?
|
SkyRe has a text file that lists mods that are confirmed compatible. I forget which one it is though (maybe in the FAQ or installation guide). I know SkyUI works because I use it personally, but I don't know about anything else on the list.
