Really liking Skyrim, but someone linked the UESP wiki before and I was browsing through. I forgot how fucking huge Morrowind was, compared to Skyrim there was SO much more to do:
4 Guilds with multiple halls, each hall having a Skyrim length quest chain. 3 Great Houses (3 Way "Civil War"), Main Quest, Tribunal Temple, Imperial Legion, Imperial Cult, Ashlanders, Vampire Quest chain, countless other side quests. Plus the two expansions.
They could do it back then, why not now? I found all the guild chains really short, even the main quest was a little quick

The difference is that most of those quests were more or less equivalent to the radiant quests they have now: go to some random ruin and kill someone and retrieve an item.

I think we need to stop arguing which is better, and accept that they are both fantastic games

Not arguing at all, loved all TES games since Daggerfall, just pointing it out. Bring on the Creation Kit for some sweet mods and stories! :D

Played Morrowind over again earlier this year(with the huge graphics and sound overhaul) and have now played Skyrim for about 80 hours, and I must say, I feel a lot of the larger Skyrim quests at least match up to the very best quests of Morrowind. It feels like they spent so much more time on each dungeon and each quest in this game than in Morrowind.
And if Skyrim isn't large enough for you, I must say, you must have some mighty high demands. As much as I have played I still haven't finished the main quest, chosen a side in the civil war or even been to all the holds. This game feels mindbogglingly huge as it is. Though my choice not to fast travel might make it seem even larger than it is.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait for the DLC if it's going to be as expansive as some of the FO3 DLC.

I've played a mage character to level 28 (about 50 hours of gameplay) and I'm really getting bored of being a destruction caster in this game. Is there anything more to destruction magic than dual-casting firebolts to stagger-lock opponents to death? I might just reroll a stealth or sword&shield character at this point, since destruction magic is so boring.

My char is mage / one handed, and I tend to use the expert destruction spells even if they are worse, just because it looks cool. Dual firebolt is imba.

Increase the difficulty and try mixing in a little conjuration/alteration magic. You can even do some archery + sneaking. Set up runes. Magic is actually quite fun if you divert from the herp derp dual cast firebolts and never run out of mana.

I remember someone complaining about game depth, and one of his points being that there aren't bandits on the roads waiting to ambush travelers. Well, that's not true. I slaughtered a small gang earlier, and then not 10 minutes later was told I had to pay a fine to cross a bridge (wtf little jon?) so I had to kill all of them too.

Had to restart my game from the start because of a dick move by the game.
I had just finished the Golden Claw question in the beginning and I came out of a house, saved, noticed 3 guys come up to me and kick my ass for "stealing" despite me never haven stolen anything. Tried it a dozen times but I couldn't beat them.
Remade a character, a mage this time... they came around again at the same time. I used 2 scrolls of fireball on them and they had like 10 HP left each lol. So much easier than with a warrior. Then I read the contract, some Moira person put a hit on me... yet I've never even been out of Riverwood and the surroundings by that point and she's from a completely different town according to the wiki. Only person I stole from was that witch I killed both times.
Killed my first dragon now. Liking this character a bit more although I always run out of MP if I fight 2-3 enemies at once. Just got the level 2 spells so I wonder how that will do.

What, do consoles not have save and autosave features Kurr?

Yeah same here. I passed this trapped bridge the bandits set up so when I went under it would drop boulders from the side of the cliff. This was during the+ Show Spoiler + A Daedra's Best Friend quest

You can abuse the terrain in Riftwood by jumping on top of the pile of logs adjacent to the sawmill. Run up there when you need to heal, and the hitmen will run away until you jump back down.

Some enemies (mainly high level spellcasters and dragons) have to be dealt with the old fashioned way, so make sure to use level archery / one handed / two handed

I have fun using the runes in destruction magic. I find its a lot more fun using destruction to supplement your other skills rather than use it primarily for fighting. Its not impossible to switch your focus to more stealth or melee styles. It may take time to invest a couple perks but it beats rerolling imo.
You can
A) Focus more on stealth by starting to level sneak and if you have any perks in Illusion they mesh pretty well. Start playing stealthier with a dagger and use illusion to crowd control. Then as backup you have your destruction magic to blast enemies away
or
B) Focus more on melee fighting by enchanting some heavy armour and picking up a sword and go spell/sword in each hand. Duel cast icespikes for longer range enemies then unsheath sword and cut them down while they're weak/fatigued

Playing my 2nd dual wield character on master, this time with light armor. I abuse a lot of relentless force to push enemies off cliffs (esp in dwarven ruins) with all the elevations).
Right now I am very dependent on using my extremely high dps to bust down enemies. Can't really take all that many hits: might need to find a way to powerlevel light armor/start BSing.

+ Show Spoiler + Dragons are infinite according to the developers. You will continue to see them even beyond the main quest. You will actually see tiers of them as you level up (Dragon, Frost Dragon, Named Ones, Elder Dragons, Ancient Dragons, etc.) which will give you a better challenge.

Dam.. You have got to learn more efficient leveling methods. My first play through was about 60 hours and I got to 46 before the game wouldn't load for me no matter what I did. On my second playthrough I'm level 32 w/ about 30 hours. Yeah thieves are the most fun by far I just cant find myself enjoying the mage combat style.
A few tips: Go to Riften's Black Briar Meadery find the front desk guy and you can spam click persuade on him to level speech to 100. You can spam make Iron daggers with smithing and get it to 50-60 in about 30 mins if you have the gold. The most op thing ever is building a full pick pocket set (my pickpocket lvl was 100 but I did it from like 50) and you just go to all the trainers, train with them and then pickpocket all your gold back WOOHOO. Pickpocketing also basically means infinite money because you can just go pickpocket an entire town and sell their stuff, or buy things from a vendor and pickpocket all your gold back then resell the stuff. Also buy the spell Muffle and just spam it while you run around and you level it pretty fast. Lover Stone is the best for leveling IMO once you get like 25+ and have pretty much chosen what path your going to go down.

lol @ efficient leveling methods when this is a single player game.
