You can unlock it with 25/30(if I'm not mistaken) destruction points on your destruction skill tree. With that perk you can also dual cast flame and ice skills. Pretty important perk to have. I already have dual cast... but i literally only have the fire spell You should have sparks and Flames at the beginning of the game if I'm not completly insane. But if you really don't have the spell, you can easlily find it. it is a novice spell that pretty much everyone sells. Just give it a look around a big town that you will be able to find it. Its not stronger then flames, but at least it drains the mana of your opponent.
Yea i didnt pick it up aparantly... thanks for that info, but ive been looking around whiterun for a while and im not really sure where to go, is there a specific house or shop that you know sells it?

The court mage in the keep in Whiterun sells the spells.

Keep in mind that when people say you look a little sickly, it doesn't always refer to being a vampire. You could have contracted other diseases like Ataxia.

I decided to buy this game. i have 12mbps download speed and the option on steam is selected for Fiber/Cable > 10m but it peaks at only 1.5m wtf..
|
I absolutely love the casting system in this game. SO glad I made a Dark Elf, got tired of playing Warriors/Archers in previous Elder Scroll runs. Question: Does anyone what type of Destruction spells is the best to learn? Like, what is the most common resist people have? Fire?
edit: My character looks really weird when I sprint while having dual cast equipped, lol. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hey if any one knows of a way to disable the special death animations for killing blows please let me know. It's really infuriating to have control interrupted constantly by it. -.-

Depends on what you're trying to do. Fire does the most raw damage, Cold drains fatigue, and Lightning drains Magicka. If you're a hardcore destruction mage, you could put perks in all three elements, but mine are a little more spread out so I decided to specialize in fire for the damage output.
And agreed, the casting system in this game is phenomenal. It's so easy to cycle between spells and get whatever configuration you want on both hands using hotkeys. Also the way magic has to charge up and be released makes casting a little more involved than "point and cast."
I really want to try a Sword/Shield warrior though since I've never had one in Elder Scrolls.
I also want to try a Thief because of that badass 15x damage dagger perk.
I foresee a lot of hours spent on this game.

I was a hater of Elder Scroll's games based on my Oblivion experience and I managed to marathon this for 15 hours today, can't recall when if ever I've played 15 hours in one day. Still only 1/4 in just based on achievements. This game really made me forget of whats going on around me.
If I have to whine about something, dragon fights aren't as awesome as they were supposed to be. Guess theres only so and so much you can expect from random encounters though. Also my original plan of going nord battlemage got sacked as I was just mostly swinging sword anyway and I'm just a pure warrior now, although I'm getting a feeling that heavy armour is utterly useless. And obviously I had to get a sick axe from companion quests after spending skill points on sword crit.
Also who noticed the NPC called + Show Spoiler +

I have found another key difference between lightning and fire spells, the fireball spell (hold down to fire) has a travel time, at long range it can take 10-15 seconds to hit a target, but the lightning version is instant travel, allowing you to oneshot some animals from 30+ meters instantly

The extra 'D' was added solely for Artosis.

So I've never played any Elder Scrolls games, (except Oblivion once at a friends house for like 30 minutes and I can barely remember anything), but I keep hearing amazing things about this game and I'm considering buying it. Is it worth it? Should I be aware of any differences this series has in gameplay vs others, etc?
