You can unlock it with 25/30(if I'm not mistaken) destruction points on your destruction skill tree. With that perk you can also dual cast flame and ice skills. Pretty important perk to have. I already have dual cast... but i literally only have the fire spell u find the spark spell tome at the very beginning in some cage
haha i said like 3 times in the last 2 pages im like 5 hours into the game and missed it
got it anyways now from the dude in the keep at whiterun because some other guy helped me here

How do you kill a mammoth / troll as a 2handed non-magic non-bow user
|
I'm really glad that Bethesda picked up Fallout. They learned a ton about game design from studying Fallout 1/2 and using that knowledge to make Fallout 3 (which I didn't like that much, but damn it they learned). TESV turned out amazing.
Like any game, it does have a few flaws. I was walking around town when some thugs tried to rough me up. I killed them all, and one of them had a note on them basically saying "this guy is a thief, here's some gold, now go kick his ass. Signed, (NPC's name)". I remembered who he was, so I approached him in person and there was no dialogue about the contract at all. :|

Ok ive played for about ~10 hours now. Here are some of the things ive noticed
1) Applying poison cannot be done to two weapons at once (dual wielding) only puts it on one, or both? 2) For some reason they added a dual wielding system but not the character carrying them. Only one. 3) Sometimes the mouse system will bug out in menus, you can only use keyboard from there on or close/open menu (oh no, games ruined -_- xD) 4) Favourites system and equipping dual wield (weapons or spells) tends to be kinda buggy. I spent a good 5 minutes trying to get my orcish mace and sword to dual from purely my 1 + 2 hotkeys, was forced to go into favourites (so much for the immersion XD) and with spells, to get 2 handed of the same spell i have to do this. For example -> Dual swords -> healing right / sword -> healing right / fire left -> dual healing. While using the hotkeys.
So thoughts on these bugs ive come across, minor as fuck. slightly aggrivating at times but sure to be patched almost instantaneously. 3+4 will be ironed out by bethesda pretty quickly imo.
2 is just the most retarded oversight ever to be honest, i cant believe it myself xD but only a visual thing, who cares (ish)
1 is probably by means of them meaning 1 poison = both weapons, but meeeeeeeh. I wanted to have a silence posion on one blade, drain magicka on the other and then that necromancer adept is FUCKED. I guess i can just hotkey my poisons and do it that way..
Honestly nothing i care much about, just some of the things ive noticed ^_^ - i also got attacked by a cauldron when it got stuck imbetween me and a counter. and a couple of rats / bodies have gone flying when ive killed them on stairs and whatnot.
Still fucking epic game.

For some reason, being a combat player in this game is quite difficult, even though usually its the other way around.....

Even if you aren't at all a bow user, you can still use a bow.
You won't be as good at it, but that early it won't matter much. Unlike magic you don't have to build up a mana pool to use it well

5 hours in, 1h + board orc that hates magic but loves potions and smithing, sucks at talking but has honor, occasionally puts an arrow in elk/f? Loving this so much. I can not recall the last time I had such immersion in a game before. I loved fallout 3 and vegas but the bugs and weird scripting constantly pulled me out of the world. This one doesn't. My only complaint is alt+tab crashes the game, but that is really minor as I am only tempted to alt tab when a friend pops online.

So Im really glad I picked dark elf as I am loving the magic usage in the game AND I like to be pretty aggressive with my attacks. Also, sneaking around with a bow is hella fun though I didnt get an initial skill bonus unfortunately. But dual casting fire at level two is imba as hell

Ya!! Faeldan or something like that. I thought that was weird too. I had the contract in my hand ready to confront him and there was nothing to do
But overall, this game is amazing. Possibly the best RPG I've ever played. It's been 22 hours since I picked up the game at gamestop and I've already put 14 hours of gameplay!! Fantastic game. Glad I took off work for this ^_^

Bring an ally, use a bow with poison on it and about 70 arrows, and constantly be near a tree so you can screw up the mammoth's AI.

For me, alt+tab doesn't usually crash, it puts the game in a window. You have to alt tab back into the game, THEN alt tab all the way around back into the game again. 95% of the time it comes back just fine, and you just gotta hit f5 before you alt tab to make sure that a crash isn't a big deal.

Sword + Shield Nord all the way baby! Having a blast :D Level 14 now!
The only gripe I have with this game is a bug where I changed my hotkeys and it must of mucked up the trade system somehow. There's a quest where you have to trade supplies into a crate for some dudes up a mountain, but I couldn't. It kept telling me to press a button that simply just equipped it instead of trading it into the crate. Has anyone else had this when trying to trade? (and I don't mean buy/sell, I mean trade)

Yay dragons!
Probably one of the best screenshots I've taken in any game ever, lol.

whats the shortcut for screenshots? Im only playing on medium graphics but it doesnt mean crazy stuff wont happen Ive already seen an ox climb over a fence Then phase through it in reverse lol. Its legs climbed over the fence and it did it well with reasonable collision rules then it went ass first right through the fence wall really fast haha

Holy crap I found an awesome exploit with Faendel.
I pay him gold to train me in archery. I then ask him to follow me, I then ask him to trade items and I take my Gold back. Then I tell him I dont need his help.
Rinse and Repeat 5 free archery levels :D SWEEET
(note Im a dark elf this might be letting him follow me/unfollow me so easily idk)

I used the steam screenshot key, which is F12 by default I think. Not sure what the Skyrim hotkey is though.

If it's Faeldan, the note can be explained: + Show Spoiler +The guy killed would be Sven. The note is a fake from Sven in order to discredit his love rival Faeldan in a sidequest. Note that he latter also tries to do the same if you talk to him. -_- Don't really know what would get him to attack you, though.

Does anyone know why the "take" option when I'm reading a book can not be selected for me? I can't finish a quest because I can't get the book into my inventory. The hotkey is E but pressing that does nothing. and there's no "E" bind in the controls menu.
