The game is made for a general audience, what you can go into Skyrim expecting to be able to mod it, or use console commands, or to play with restrictions you put upon yourself(some people are going to draw their own map -_-), etc. That's why Bethesda puts out the modding tools etc, so you can play the way you want. You want a challenge, well then make it challenging, you want a cakewalk, put it on easy and give yourself a sword that 1 shots everyone. Who cares, since its a single player experience. I think the person who has to cut out features and items from the game to make it challenging might care. If Bethesda wasn't so worthless they'd come up with a solution. You know, like a working difficulty slider. But why do that when you can mod stuff in! In fact, why have dragons either, when you can mod them in! Or even better, I can just close my eyes everytime I fight a rat and pretend it's a dragon. When you play it like that it's made for an even wider audience!

I will list them once more and if you still dont get it then I dont know either... - the dificulty was the lowest in the game settings - the player was lvl 8 you can expect the Dragons to scale with the player level - the player had a companion who tanked most of the physical damage - the companion does quite a bit of damage too - the player plays a Nord who are 50% resistant against ice attacks - the dragon used ice attacks - player still needed 7 potions and almost got killed right at the start of the fight

With Steam DRM and digital distribution they don't rely as much on CE sales, so they can charge extra for CE that they know will sell pretty much regardless of price to the collector customer base.

(I am used to seeing expensive japanese collector edition games price tag, so this one actually isn't so bad)

Right now I can run oblivion on high but its not optimal so I play at a suped up medium. You are somewhere in the between medium-low. I think you can turn most of it to medium and if there are some taxing options you can lower those individually. If you got a friend that can help you overclock that can boost your performance.
