Really enjoyed the game. It really got me emotionally attached to everything somehow...never felt that way for any other game i can remember playing. Lots of good and sad moments to go through.
As far as the ending goes...+ Show Spoiler +I'm with most others in that it was very disappointing. To have my two best squadmates with me die to the last reaper you run passed..seeing Tali and Liara dead like that while still having to run was heartbreaking. I swear I almost cried. Having them go through everything with me from game 1 and then just die helplessly like that is wrong.
Then of course the last choice you have was disappointing as well. If they had just added a scenario where everyone survives(granted you had a lot of war assets) I would have been satisfied. Generic and boring but necessary.
Also for anyone who may have missed the first or second game, or played them on xbox or ps3, or just wants to experience the differences when your past is different, I found this site. http://www.masseffect2saves.com/index.php It's basically a collection of save files uploaded by community members to share. Has a very large assortment of them with great detail, I found it really useful since I played the previous games on xbox.

I couldn't possibly imagine a worse ending to an otherwise great game.

I actually liked the ending. + Show Spoiler +. Although no real last boss in the end or anything (or do you have to fight the illusive man if you cant persuade him?) I think it would've been gay if you could just pick "save everything" without any sacrifice. The annoying part was that after i walked to the "destroy" option and then changed mind, but i couldn't move anymore so i was fucked :D . Was it just me or did the game feel easier on insanity? I started pure without any imports as an inflitator and didn't have too much trouble and i felt the older mass effects were harder.

I don't see a reason to go back and replay any of the games now that I know that + Show Spoiler +all the mass effect relays blow up regardless of the choices I make . Absolutely terrible Bioware, a 10/10 game for me went down to 6/10 in a matter of the last WTF 10 minutes. Did you just bring a massive spoiler to a thread which has stayed completely clean?
Wtf?

edit: Yeah we posted at the same time

All I can say, is that we should hope that Bioware have an idea what they are doing. They are one of the most story heavy developers around, clearly they have a plan. Let's see what they have in store. For all we know, this could all be leading up to a piece of DLC that will continue the story in some form. For anyone who watched the secret clip after the credits:
+ Show Spoiler + The Stargazer did mention that he was gonna tell the kid one more story about the Shepard
Only time will tell.

He was referring to DLC.

ME3 is even less of an RPG than ME2, sadly.
It's more of an interactive movie with stand-alone cover shooting segments that could really just be taken out since they affect nothing in the story progression. They're just in the way of the story Bioware wants to tell.
Conversely, I would have loved to enjoy gameplay that wasn't overshadowed by the crappy writing and uncancelable cutscenes. Too bad. I can't even bring myself to replay it at this point.

That's it for me then, not buying it.

This is everything I hate about this generations games. They're not games anymore, they are movies where you press a button once in a while, much like you have to turn the pages in a book to get further in the story.

You can still press left to kill someone, or right to... well, pat someone on the back, I guess, during the cutscenes. INTERACTIVITY.
Also funny things happen is when you play as a nostandard Shepard. See, standard Shepard killed Wrex and never recruited Grunt, so the krogan planet and the rachni dungeon are rather bland and boring, as you get a random stand-in krogan you've never heard of before for both of them that does the same things. Oh yeah, also he never recruited Legion, so you get a stand-in for him as well.
Guess what happens if Mordin and Tali died in ME2? You thought the krogan and quarian planets were dramatic with the original cast? Try it, it's hilarious!
Yeah, don't buy this game. I rented it for two days and I wish I could have smashed the DVD in half then mailed it to Bioware.

There are definitely plenty of things wrong with this game but a lot of people are overreacting.
Best experience = - Played both 1 & 2
- Recruited everyone
- Saved everyone
- Paragon? Never played Renegade in any ME yet
- Insanity Difficulty (Shouldn't be too hard at all especially since you're from TL)
- I didn't get the DLC but apparently the gun you get is awesome. Mixed reviews about the Prothean companion. If story matters, adds a lot of important Prothean info.
Remembering all the people you met and encountering them all over again is a real pleasure. I feel like half or more of the people that are really ripping into the game played default or some shit and have no attachment to these one off no names that replace dead/un-engaged characters.
I do not even want to graze the ending right now... lol

from a friend's blogpost. Makes me wonder whether this one is really worth the time, let alone the money

It's probably game of the year if you un-plug your PC right when the floor suddenly becomes a 'beam of light' + elevator and picks you up. I'd definitely play it, it's still an amazing game. Just be prepared for a shit ending.

I still cant understand how BW managed to ruin whole series under 5 minutes, its crazy.

Maybe some more eyes from here can think about it, correct me, agree, or tell me why im wrong? Theory: + Show Spoiler +After you get hit by the Harbingers beam, and regain conciousness you don't have your armor on anymore. How? Why? Because that's when the dream starts, and you are still unconscious.
The extra 20 second clip you can earn shows you back on earth at a pile of rubble taking a breath. This is literally impossible if anything after the port to the citadel is true, because the damn thing explodes, what are you gonna survive the explotion, fly through space, through the atmosphere, still be alive, take the impact hit from falling miles and miles and still live? No. You got grazed by the beam and thrown to the side, and lay there unconscious.
The catalyst/reaper AI shown as the little boy, why would the reaper AI/catalyst be shown like that? Because it's Sheps dream, he has dreamed about that boy all damn game.
Why is it so easy to kill the improved and modified TIM OR convince him that he is wrong when he spent his whole life / the whole games working for whatever he worked for? He would never be that clumsy, he's intelligent as fuck. Shep wants it to be that easy, and it's not real either.
Normandy flying away from the battlefield through a mass relay, and people who you fought with on earth and who were dead close to the citadel beam step out of the ship after the crash. Literally impossible, and incredibly illogical that the joker and the whole crew would for some reason fly away.
+ Show Spoiler +Interesting. Its strange that after the beam Shep has only her "casual" clothing, and that clip showing he/she breathes shows that he/she has N7 armor. But why would they do something like this? It would be really cruel to do something like this. Its supposed to be the end of Shepards storyline, why end it with a dream?

Oh my >.>
+ Show Spoiler + That rachni part with Aralakh Team and grunt ALMOST made me sad. I chose to save the rachni queen in the first game and released Grunt in the second. Being an infiltrator, I always put Grunt in my squad to tank, even at the end against the human reaper.
Last night when they told me to pick between sacrificing Aralakh squad or the Rachni queen I chose the rachni buggy 'cos I always imagined they would help against the reapers. Near the end of the cave where Grunt said GO I'LL HOLD THEM OFF I ffffuuuu-ed and ALMOST hit the escape button to skip through and reload. Almost.
Good thing I didn't, the part when Grunt came out covered in blood made me smile again.
Say what you want about Bioware, they CAN stir your emotions.
