So, am I the only dude who played and still loves Netrunner or Magi-Nation?
I mean, TCGs are pretty much my thing and have played more games than I can count.

There are two brutally simple entries for these two baller as fuck card games.
Netrunner was basically Shadowrun Hacking: The Card Game and Magi-Nation was an incredibly simple, yet deep game that had 9 unique factions.

I played a bit of Magic The Gathering when I was 7-8, but never really got into it that much... I still bought cards for a few more years, though.

So of course, being a 10-11 year old kid, my favorite card was

For no other reason than the picture (I don't think I had internet at the time

) and the word "sex."

I never played Pokemon, but I remember finding a shop that sold the Japanese boosters packs for $7 a pack. And they had like a 50% chance to yield a foil card, so I snapped a ton up. Got two Dark Charizards and a Moltres, I think.

Remember selling one of the Dark Charizards for $30 or so at the time... and I still have the other floating around somewhere.

With Yu-Gi-Oh, once again, I never played the game, but I made a ton of money buying the starter decks (because I found a place that sold them for $15) and selling various cards from it. Plus you got two booster packs with it, so there was always a chance for rares. Remember selling a Gaia (I think) that came with a starter deck for $10 in quarters.

I've played the WoW TCG once or twice with KingKosi, and it was pretty cool, but we were really bad it so games took forever. Never really got very far with it, but I did buy a ton of cards for the chance at loot cards (either to use or sell.) I've purchased at least 3-4 starter kits that I picked up for really cheap and 2-3 booster boxes (24 boosters?) for the March/Legion of Doom expansion. Never got a single loot card, but that was all forgiven when I won a Spectral Tiger code in the Loot Elemental thing at last year's Blizzcon; sold it for $500.

I don't know how good these are by today's standards but I used to dominate my friends with them back in 6th grade. Taunting elf + the troll that can regen any creature was so awesome to use.

Ahh, the good old rushing. And the days when you could make a green steamroll deck with a shitton of this cost 1 elves that gave you mana, this contraptions that had X cost and stats X/X, Living Lands and Stampede (or was it Overrun? The card that gave all your creatures trample and +stats I think)

And has anyone here ever played Deadlands? It was an amazing game in Wild West setting, where during shootout between characters you played poker and the winning hand won the shooting. Real fun.

Never really got into MTG but back in the late 90's we had those amazing DBZ cards and even if wasn't watching the DBZ anime because i didn't have a TV and was quite ignorant about the lore i still started collecting. It was a real mess, several different editions, Japanese, French, and most were fakes i guess lol.

I was like 10 and and my main problem was that i had 0 money so i could not buy. Instead i had to win those cards.
Basicly we couldn't understand how to play by the "rules" ( didn't even know if those Dbz cards had "rules" btw lol ).
So we had our own rules. I don't remember exacly all the details but we used two different settings:

i don't remember exactly how the 2nd setting worked but it was something like that:

Those rules were really fun however the card would get wear out quite fast haha so sometimes we would play old used cards, then trade the "real" card after the match.

I'm proud because i have managed to get some uber holo cards without spending a penny. I was quite good especially because i was smart enough to choose my opponents carefully and get good values for my card when i started a match...

Took me only 5 minutes to win that card and like 30 to find its picture, but man that was totally worth it, with those MAX cards you were the true baller of the playground, i think i had 2 out of 5 in the whole school

Ahhh the memories of elementary school... When i won that card my heat was shaking ... god i was so happy. I nearly lost it the same afternoon and i felt so bad. I don't really remember but i think that after this incident i "retired" (lol), then we got the summer holidays or something and the next year we switched to soccer during breaks.

Remember those too ?
I used to play that before the Dbz card :p

I found the set where you had all this Phyrexian stuff nice.
Also, the one where you could make a neat rainbow sliver deck out of the starter box was cool (always enjoyed the slivers).

The amount of hours that went into playing MTG was borderline insane.
I stopped at some point due to university, but my personal favorites were these two.
Can't pin down what it was, but I did have a crush for the art and the related flavor text

the timing of this thread is pretty funny. I found the yugioh card game to be an awesome strategy game but so expensive to play. I stopped after around a year but I just found one of my old yugioh game boy games. I have Eternal Duelist Soul and Nightmare Troubador which is pretty fun. I apparently got out before all these broken cards came out, some of the descriptions I was reading above were lolroflbad like that 3000/2500 Dragon card.

I still actually have my old deck in one of my draws and by far my favorite card had to be

Awesome card when combined with malevolent nuzzlers. I use to play defensive decks into strong summon cards like summoned skull and barrel dragon, but then I changed to low tier aggression decks. ace of despair, horn of unicorn, malevolent nuzzler with maha vailo and gemini elf was badass among other 1900 attack cards.

Oh and of course Ultimate Offering made that deck ridiculously more powerful. Ending games on turn 3 with a 4000 attack maha vailo was so baller.
