A similar exploit has happened in every maplestory event involving trading in things to npc's for mesos or items.
Just so people know what to expect nexon to do regarding the recent exploit, I will list FOUR things that has happened in the past. It is safe to say that a combination of these four things will be done by nexon during the following business week.
1. Nexon will implement a rollback.
2. Nexon will perma ban the exploiters.
3. Nexon will temp ban anyone that has come into contact with the exploited items. (ie. hacker drops the chaos scrolls in FM entrance and you pick it up or buying chaos scrolls from hacker shops.)
4. Nexon will do nothing,
I'm not saying what will happen. I'm simply listing what HAS happened in the past.
All we can really do now is just wait and see what Nexon will do.

I love how you say a combination of Nexon doing nothing and any of the above is possible.
For now, here's what I recommend, STAY AWAY FROM ANY CHAOS SCROLLS, PINK SCROLLS OR MAPLE WEAPONS (unless they were dropped by the monster itself). Don't get anything from Inkie, Cassandra or Inkie's sister (I forgot the name =( but oh well)
Most likely Nexon will implement a rollback because its the easiest option to them, and then 2x exp or some dumb event to "make up for it" (like PSN, bleh) so I'll check it from time to time. I wish I knew an actual GM but then again, Nexon has the reputation for turning a blind eye and ear to the community.

Its not even exploiting chaos scrolls etc, its a meso generator. Get free coins(don't even need to trade item anymore) buy maple weapons, npc them repeat. All automated by a bot if you have BT.

But it does lead to exploiting items. Doesn't make them any less "illegal" than it already is.

How is it illegal?
The people at Nexon made the game so that this could be done (even if they didnt intend to).
They cannot punish people for 'exploiting' the game by using the coin thingie, because they never said you are not allowed to do so.
(On the other hand, it is Nexon...)

But using packet editors to trick the NPC into thinking you are trading in maple weapons when in fact you are trading in arrows is illegal.

The exploiters are using 3e party software to exploit, so thats illegal.. Buying the scrolls however shouldn't be.

Well this has turned another event into a complete feces storm. Is Nexon so blind and stupid that they cant catch these exploits before they get so big? It seems like they just let things run their course until it gets so bad that they have to rollback or something. They probably started a rumor about autobans and a "fix" as a chessy ploy to fix the problem instead of actually doing anything. The multitude of hax involving packet editing prove that their is a fundumental flaw in the way that Nexon has coded their entire game. Perhaps they can use some of the thousands of dollars they just got from premium miracle cubes to actually hire some staff to work on code and watch the servers for issues like this, but I think that's about as likely as hackers stopping this madness out of the goodness of their hearts.

This glitch is ridiculous.... I logged on for the lulz, realized that Chaos was 250k each. Being the gambler that I am, I bought a whole bunch on my crappy 2 lined helms. Now they're like 30 luk, 27 dex 30 lu, 28 int, etc. Each scrolled for the price of 2.5m...... I do hope there's a rollback, honestly, it's unfair to the people who spent hundreds of millions of mesos on their hats, belts, and whatever.

**Update** We will NOT be performing a rollback to address this issue. The affect on the meso economy has been very minimal and we are working on addressing the large increase in scrolls and equipment items through other methods. We will release details soon. Thank you for your patience.

I almost signed on to buy as many scrolls and shit as I could afford. Then I decided to write my final paper for philosophy instead because there would just be a rollback. Seriously, who gets mad about rollbacks for more than a day? It looks SO MUCH BETTER for nexon to rollback and comp with maplepoints/2x than to let hacking run rampant in their game.
Now I QQ because I remain poor. should go chaos my rav helm for fun.
