Let's keep this glitch : ) I agree, i found dimond, gold, and a ton of iorn with that glitch. But they are a pain to get out of if you get into the glitch. I almost died because of it too. I once found a dark shaft and 1x2 tunnel randomly while digging out my mine... It was confusing for a minute or two because there were no torches and it contained a single 90 degree turn and a few 2x2 dug-out sections at each end. Then it dawned on me that it was probably someone who dug around a chunk error to get at the goodies that were showing, and since they did it during the day, they didn't need torches to light it. Maybe it's something to do with monitor settings, but I never, ever need torches to be able to see enough to work. Even in pitch black underground chambers, there is enough light to differentiate block types if you look closely. As an odd consequence, I often find random torches that people have thrown down while exploring my areas because they can't see anything. For comfort, sure, it's hard on the eyes to try and make out complex things in the dark. But I never wasted torches while mining (before MP health, anyway). It probably depends on the monitor. if the brightness is set real high, then everything will appear a real washed out gray. I get confused in dark pits sometimes, i think see coal, but its just stone On my single player map, i spawned close to two really huge cave networks, and ive used about 2k torches just exploring, its fun. I need to find more diamond though =\ Show nested quote +On January 06 2011 11:51 iruleu2k8 wrote:OK! Major question here! Are the requirements for the liquid status 10 post and 30 days or 10 post and 3 months. Reason being that the first page and post states that it is 30 days while the players online say 3 months. Please help me understand. 10 posts & 30 days since your account was created, its in red at the bottom of his post. My brother is on, and he convinced me to do it too, too bad I have a month to wait, and by that point, school will probably start railing on me hard Thank you soooooo much. I was soo worried about me having to wait 3 months just to become liquid. Thank you for helping me get this straightened out.

i knwo that sound like a lot but i have all ready filled 4 large chests by-my-self in the last 2 days, so i dont want to hear it..
I hope that most of u will pich in and the area is closed off when im off line by gates and fences any grivers well be perm ban by sGBranFlakes him self (13+) people were baned to day alone Redstone can't turn on coal torches, it can only toggle redstone torches.
Also, frankly, if you want someone to dig on a project you're working on and they want to keep the materials they spent thier time pulling out of the ground that's their prerogative. If you ask for help and someone spends their free time to help you you'd be a real ass to ask them to give you the items they dug up too. If people WANT to give you items, then that's fine, but it's pretty sketchy to me to call someone "dishonest" if they do not.

Even if the intent isn't harmful, minecraft is so finicky and people want things exactly a certain way when they're working on a project. Those 500 torches you placed could create an hours work of ripping down 500 torches because they were 2 blocks too far south or something. As a matter of principle, don't modify anything claimed by someone else.
I've personally had problems with people entering mines I dug and pulling out materials. I dug an ocean mine something like 500 units south of a landmass in grack and someone went in and explored a bunch of the cave systems mining them all out. They even pillaged a Mob Spawner I had dug into but didn't have time to clean out during that digging session because all I had on me was pickaxes and torches, no weaponary. If you run into some mineral deposit in a private cave system (any system that intersects someone else's mine) I consider it bad manners to dig it out.
Although, for the record, if people are digging redstone or coal out of my mines I could care less. For now anyways. Those materials tend to be so easy to collect.

Hmm, I have a different view here. While I do consider it the same like you for any bases/buildings/stuff that is obviously build, I don't think that mining things in other mines is as bad if you dug into it from your own mine. I had it done to me, and I did it myself and I see no problem in it, since you should always mine what you want when digging.
That said, if there's a sign of course, saying "These ores belong to blabla do not mine" I of course wouldn't take them.
I would like to know what admins think about these 'underground issues' as I'm quite sure they occur often.

Any luck on those maps? Very eager to see how the world is doing!

Server will be offline for a few minutes. I am setting up an administration system that had the unfortunate side effect or deleting all player/group settings, so I'm gonna have to set up permissions again.
On the bright side, this will streamline permission settings and also allows people other than myself and Mino to restart the server should it crash overnight.

What do you mean by player/group settings? Does that apply only to permissions, or will other things be affected (i.e. inventory, chest locks, etc.)?

I would like to know what admins think about these 'underground issues' as I'm quite sure they occur often. Granted I've only played on the server for several hours now, but I really enjoyed it. Its amazing how multiplayer can change the dynamics of the game, and thanks to the administrator for their great work, and i get to play the 30 day waiting game . When i was building my mineshaft outside Grack, i was trying to be careful to not intersect other people's mines, and so far, it seems to have worked. The few times i did run into other stuff, i just walled it back up and went somewhere else. I think i finally found a direction that seems mostly unclaimed though.
Though, personally, underground messes can be hard to navigate, outside Grack is certainly an example, and when paths intersect, it becomes hard to determine who has what. In the end, if there are visible ores in a clearly dug shaft (not a natural cave), then respect the other player's work and leave them alone. Natural caves, imo, should be FFA, especially since multiple people can dig into them.

A few things: 1) Can people stop just mining the parts of trees that they can reach from the ground? The floating tree tops end up looking terrible.
2) Just because something is large and floating does not mean it's good. A lot of the stuff south of Grack just looks awful, the whole area is really one big mess. The denizens there really ought to work together to fix everything.
|
Not to mention the second you step more than a few feet outside of Grack there are skeletons and zombies everywhere. After I'm done with my house in Braxis I'll be working hard to help fix up Grack.
