Kaladesh looks awesome; from the spoiler I'd predict Worldwake levels of aggression and Rise of the Eldrazi levels of synergy building.

Too bad (a) it has random overpowered super-mythic fast mana and (b) I have no gaming budget left for the year.

Said "super mythic fast mana" isn't legal in standard. Our release party winner had a Chromatic Lantern but still, it's one in a blue moon during drafts.

At least one Invention will show up in slightly less than one-sixth of all drafts. Of those, 1/6 are just fancy versions of mythic rares that are already in the set (5). But 7/30 are fast mana. So about 4% of drafts will feature super mythic fast mana.

As a single card, that has to be picked up, then drawn early. That's low impact.

Lotus Petal isn't even good in Limited, so calling it 7/30 is kind of pushing it. If I got one first pick it's pretty likely I wouldn't play it.

Chromatic Lantern is good, but as far as "fast mana" goes, it's just a 3-mana mana rock. Not exactly the most insane accelerant.

I opened a Mana Crypt at the prerelease and the one game that I got it on turn 1 it dealt me 9 damage and I lost. Still felt like winning though

Any picks for top tier standard decks? I bought entry into GP Denver on December 2-4 but I don't have any standard cards so I need to find a list.
good vibes only

Wait until the Pro Tour to see what's good. Based on the Open though, RW, RB, and GW aggro seem to be good. From personal experience though, only RB seems to be truly powerful. GW seems like a bunch of meh cards with Gideon, Smuggler's Copter, and Green Gearhulk...I think the shell could be more ambitious.

Advocate and Tracker are still good, and Inspector can crew the copter, become bigger than most creatures outside of the deck when a Verdurous Gearhulk gets played (w/o the Hulk being small himself), and draws you a card later on.
If it lets you curve out and later stay relevant thanks to Copter, emblems or VerdurousG, which makes you more relevant against non-sweepers removal, I wouldn't call it bad.

Fairgrounds Warden maybe could be something else, but I assume the deck wants a critical mass of cmc 1-3 creatures so Gideon can be covered when he hits/affects a bunch of stuff with the emblem, and you have multiple bodies to spread VerdurousG's counters to avoid being blown out by spot removal.
It doesn't seem that bad (most versions have almost no removal main deck atm though).

My suspicions are right. BBD who is piloting the deck said it was good, not great...which translates to bad when you're thinking of the Pro Tour. You can see that he is very unenthusiastic about the deck. I suspect he'll scrap it after this tournament.

I haven't paid much attention but supposedly RW vehicles has been the way to go so far?

Yea there was 5 in the top 8 but if Imma be honest, the deck has some really big holes. Kozilek's Return destroys it.

I didn't see much of it. Seems decent and fun, but I'd have to play it to get an idea of its consistency.

single vital combo piece where the payoff is not an (near) instant game-win.
Fun deck but not effective.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

between copter, inspector, and Veteran Motorist I find it difficult to believe its hard to topdeck into more creatures to activate the vehicles that survived Kozilek's Return...

Can't they just run selfless spirits to deal with the Return if it's that prevalent?

Lets pretend they don't, return doesn't hit any of the Vehicles, which means topdecking almost any creature will be automatic hasters

I've been testing a lot of the decks that were successful over the past few days and I have a couple of observations:

RW Vehicles lives up to the hype. That deck is savage. Certain matchups are better than others but it feels broken.
RB Aggro is also excellent. Bomat Courier is a sweet card. Deals some damage, refills your hand.
Emerge builds are fun but regularly fall short. Some draws feel completely dumb. One game with Grixis I got 3 Prized Amalgums and a Haunted Dead into the graveyard on turn 3, flashing in Elder Deep Fiend on turn 5. But other times you don't get when you need and it durdles.
GW aggro feels alright but like you guys said, I don't think it competes with the other aggro builds.
Aether Marvelworks actually feels legit as hell. I've only played the UG version with 23 creatures, but it seems way better than the puzzleknot versions. Confiscation Coup is a sweet card that acts as a backup plan if Marvelworks doesn't resolve. This deck also feels impossible to make play mistakes with. Right now it's my leading pick for the GP.

I'm really curious about your experience with marvel works because mine is:
30-40% of the time, T4-5 ulamog or Emmy and win
The rest is made up of some percent of games where you either never draw an aetherworks, have a bunch of huge creatures in your hand you can't cast, or whiff a couple aetherworks casts and/or lose too quickly.

I love the deck but I'm worried it's too inconsistent.

It definitely has consistency issues and lacks redundancy. But since it's a combo deck, it mulligans well, which is nice. A hand with 4 lands and 3 energy producers might be worth mulliganing against certain decks. Plus it's weak to negate, which I find to be a little embarassing. But if you're running the UG version you have backup plans and better selection. Glimmer of Genius and Aether Theorist do a lot of work towards digging to the Marvelworks. Nissa helps get it back from the graveyard if it gets countered or destroyed. Westvale Abbey gives you game if the board stalls by getting you a lot of energy when a Marvelworks is out and providing a decent threat. Tireless Tracker buys time and digs further, while Verdurous Gearhulk can do a lot of work towards punching through a win even without Marvelworks. Confiscation Coup acts as a solid backup plan to all of the above.

Most of the lists I've seen run puzzleboxes and I think that's a mistake. They are just not enough bang for the buck. I'd rather have all my energy producers attached to bodies that can, at the very least, chump block or prevent early attacks. Here's the list I've been testing, which I like a lot.
http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=13639&d=280270&f=ST

My main problem is that if you draw Ulamog or Emrakul they are dead in your hand, which is a real bummer.
