It just added another layer of depth to combat. It's like if they were to take away declare attackers step in present day. Also, I wouldn't say it made some strategy's too strong. Almost all decks could abuse it. Goblins/affinity had lots of sac. Slide could block and slide out their guy. Ravenous baloth was awesome in green decks. The depth argument wasn't that significant, you just played differently.

Thought that'd be an Unhinged card's flavor text, but a quick Gatherer search for relevant terms didn't turn up anything. Then I Googled "magic the gathering riverdance" and got a bunch of hits for Ireland's "Riverdance: The Gathering." Lol? X-D

Cards like arcbound ravager and mogg fanatic meant there was so many ways for damage to resolve that it really rewarded you for carefully considering every block. Now you just stick the 3/3 in front of the 2/2 and that's that most of the time. Sure you still have to think about tricks in their hand but there was still that too on top of all the on-board tricks. Mogg fanatic was not a decision at all. It was just block, do damage, then sac. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Now it actually would be a decision.

All that and you were still just short of your N-word privilege .

I want my friend to get into magic, and from what I've shown him he likes artifacts (cause he likes the color grey or something). I'm thinking of buying a fat pack from the scars of mirrodin set, because from what I recall those guys had lots of artifacts. Is this a good / cheap way to get artifacts? Which of the three in the block would be best, or is there another set that I might not know about?

Or maybe some of the scars block intro packs. I'm not sure how easy either of those are to find now though.
