I found this http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/li/246 Trying to find out if it was an alteration of jund or what or if that previous definition I offered was valid since it seemed unlikely... Man... my mind was blown when I learned about damage on the stack change but now I found out there's no mana burn lol. Playing dotp and cockatrice isn't teaching me any new rules lol.

I just always have it in my mind that floating mana burns out your brain or something from all that built up energy lol From what I heard, it was causing issues at high play levels in terms of rulings. Whether that is true, I don't know.

I'm kinda surprised they haven't made an enchantment or other permanent that makes floating mana cause damage (do correct me if I'm wrong).

They did indirectly, Mana Flare was often causing mana burn.

I think it was a pretty dumb concept to begin with, 99% of the time all it did was punish noobs who mistapped or didn't know what it was.

The only card I can find that explicitly mentions mana burn is Mox Lotus. It just sounded like an implied rule that players were expected to know. For something that literally kills you every turn if you're not aware of it, it should've gotten more importance, in my opinion. "Gimmicky" or "stringent" don't define it perfectly, but that's all I can come up with to describe how I feel about mana burn.

Sure it was more complicated for new players but I don't really ever like the idea of dumbing down the game to make it more accessible. There is a lot of complicated shit about magic which is what makes it the best TCG compared to yigioh/pokemon/WoWtcg etc. Also, my ravagers are very sad. TBH I'm glad I didnt play with damage on the stack, it's simply counter-intuitive. How can two guys swing swords at each other, connect (damage on the stack), and then suddenly the guy's gone (via resto or what not) yet still do his damage? I understand how it worked in gameplay to save your own dudes, or to double-dip via sac effects or what not, but I'm glad the change went through.

Same with mana burn, as some have said, it mostly punished people who were new at the game, and didn't add anything.

Also, I wouldn't say it made some strategy's too strong. Almost all decks could abuse it. Goblins/affinity had lots of sac. Slide could block and slide out their guy. Ravenous baloth was awesome in green decks.
