That being said, most people prefer scars block for some odd reason, so probably go with that. Or, if you're loaded, go Urza's Saga.

After looking over the set I think I'm going to try to force some 2 colour heroic deck, preferably UW or RW. Does anyone here have any real experience drafting the set? Did my first draft of it the other night. RW definitely has some cool heroic mechanics to take advantage of. I ended up going BWG because I ripped Heliod + Whip. Went for a couple Commune of the Gods (some good fodder for whip) and a couple Setessian Griffins, as well as a couple other green cards. Bestow is an awesomely great mechanic and makes things really interesting. One of my friends went UW and it was incredibly annoying to play against. He had 3 Griptides (which are common and easy to find if you can grab them) and a bunch of other control, but his deck fizzled out and didn't really have enough bombs once he established board control.

Sealed coverage of Oklahoma is pretty good 8-0?! At a major tournament?!? And you know the guy?! :-o That's like being able to practice with Taeja on a regular basis, lol!

I Didn't sleep before SCG Cleveland yesterday and it caught up with me a few times in the 7 rounds I decided to play out of the 9. Round 2 vs UW I threw game 2 being ahead 1-0 and messed up what cards he picked up off of his Jace activation. I blame it on not paying attention and being overly tired. I went 1-1 after this and proceed to go 4-1 after I was pissed and refocused but I made a similar mistake in the 6th round vs Esper and just went on tilt. after going 4-2 and throwing both the matches I was easily going to win I threw the next game so I could just go home. Few notes on the format. ~Mono red isn't going to catch anyone by surprise now. ~Blood Baron and Chandra are overpriced. Every time I had Blood Baron I wished it was Obzedat and everytime I had Chandra I wished it was another card, namely Elspeth. ~Elspeth is the best card in the format, if you're playing white and can play Elspeth...you should ~ the format is wide open, even more so than last standard. Let me emphasize my point on Elspeth. I was running 1 in my 75. + Show Spoiler + //Artifact (2) 2 Rakdos Keyrune //Creature (12) 3 Blood Baron of Vizkopa 4 Boros Reckoner 4 Desecration Demon 1 Obzedat, Ghost Council //Instant (4) 4 Warleader's Helix //Enchantment Artifact (1) 1 Whip of Erebos //Planeswalker (2) 1 Elspeth, Sun's Champion 1 Chandra, Pyromancer //Sorcery (14) 3 Anger of the Gods 4 Dreadbore 2 Mizzium Mortars 2 Rakdos's Return 3 Read the Bones //Land (25) 4 Blood Crypt 4 Godless Shrine 2 Mountain 2 Plains 2 Rakdos Guildgate 4 Sacred Foundry 1 Swamp 2 Temple of Silence 2 Temple of Triumph 2 Rakdos Guildgate SB: 2 Pithing Needle SB: 3 Shock SB: 3 Thoughtseize SB: 2 Slaughter Games SB: 2 Underworld Connections SB: 2 Wear // Tear SB: 1 Anger of the Gods The card is insane. I saw her a grand total of 6 times in the 7 rounds I played and every time she hit the board she won the game. It didnt matter if the board state was in my favor or not she stabilized or sealed the deal. She does everything you want a 6 mana planeswalker to do. I am playing this list minus Chandra and +/- the Blood Baron/Obzedat numbers next week at states. It has zero issues with creature based decks and has great game against UW and Esper.

That said, I'm currently trying to sell off all my excess modern stuff to build the deck, but apparently no one in the state of Lousiana plays fucking modern, so it's been impossible to trade...TO EBAY! Edit: Oh, and no oozes, I really, really don't like the card atm.

I'm torn on the 1 mana elves, especially given you have to skew towards basic forests to play them and my deck is more black focused. Edit: Oh, and no oozes, I really, really don't like the card atm. I play with Dan Musser on a pretty regular basis and talk to him and if he's playing it, it's almost 100% the correct choice. He's been to the PT, he's always near the top of SCG standings and he dominates local events. He always plays what he thinks is the best deck or what he thinks is the best deck for the meta, he doesn't brew often, so I think the deck is a good choice. Ooze is decent right now, everyone is playing little derpy creatures and getting value out of them is always nice.
