Oh well, next set has a cool theme too. I try not to consider it a let down, because I had a feeling they would reprint a lot more than just the shocks in this set. Maybe not Goyf or bob, but I was looking for like remand or path or something. =/

![]() MAYBE Putrefy reprint is nice but abrupt decay + dreadbore is already enough to deal with most things. In fact master of cruelties and ruric thar might be decent sideboard cards, but yeah.

The Voice seems quite bad as well, since it won't grow very much as you focus on large creatures rather than a multitude of small ones. Skylasher is possible if Cloudfin Raptor becomes a real deck and/or delver makes a resurgance. Armed and Dangerous is like a mini Revenge of the Hunted, which has the potential to be useful if used on a giant creature when they have a board of 2/2s and/or mana creatures. Blood Baron of Vizkopa is one of the cards that makes me think that Junk midrange is going to be infinitely better than naya post rotation. Gaze of Granite being another, you can get 5 mana on T3 with ramp, then nuke all 2 drops on the board. Profit // Loss is another, thanks to hosing Lingering Souls or being a mini crusade when you're winning on board. Putrefy is yet another Junk midrange possibility, though whether I'd maindeck it would depend on how many "must die" creatures are in decks that beat me G1. Ready // Willing is going to be a sleeper hit, it hoses Supreme Verdict on one side and gives a huge life swing on the other, and deathtouch is great against midrange. Good against midrange, control, AND aggro, yes plz. As an enormous Child of Night fan and extort lover, I really wanna play limited with Tithe Drinker. Unflinching Courage = Armadillo Cloak = Naya humans gets better. Think of Champion of the Parish into BTE/Mauler into this on the Champion T3....OUCH. Warleader's Helix seems like it might be too slow, but depending on how the format looks once it rotates, it may have a place in Naya midrange. Wear // Tear is the quintessential sideboard card. Zhur-Taa Druid seems a lot better than people give it credit for. In a midrange deck, it acts as reach against other midrange decks, and aggro decks get a pinger that's worth a damn. Not sure if it fits in the current shell of Naya Humans, though you can play it off BTE. Seems like it might be a bit slow now, but I'd keep my eye on it, especially after Avacyn's Pilgrim (and maybe Arbor Elf though I'd bet they'll reprint it) rotates.

As for Crypt Incursion, Junk has never really ground my life points into 0, it's usually a tempo game. Their best threat is acidic slime with hoof, I could careless about the rest of their stuff, incursion doesn't take you out of Hoof most of the time anyways if they have a board since you have next to zilch blockers post-board. It's not the Angel chains or Resto jokes I am worried about post-board, most of my counter-magic comes out for specific situational cards since Caverns blanks them anyways, it's the Hoof's ability to kill you from 20+. I rather just hose them straight up with Purify/Rest in Peace to free up my Drownyard/Jace, as well as making my Wraths stick for longer than a turn. It's a game of attrition and tempo that oddly enough, Esper can win if they can stick a Jace. You can actually outstrip Obzedat with a Sorin too. The Council plan is pretty awful post board if the Esper player understands the match up, and after getting close multiple times, I am getting the hang of it to pull it even pre-board short of triple Rites in the top 20 cards. I like the match up actually, it reminds me of the old UB versus Frites match up with a little more resilience on the part of the Rites deck.

As for the changes, collusion makes any sorta serious multiplayer EDH sorta dumb, Trade Secrets just made it very obvious. Staff of Domination seems pretty busted, but they have since banned Roffelos as a commander, seems like he was the biggest offender with it. Lol, and Wizards had Trade Secrets specifically put into Commander too. Ah, that law of unintended consequences. X-D On the contrary to most folks here, I rather liked the RtR cycle. As a multicolor junkie, I enjoyed seeing all the dual-color stuff again. Playability wise, yeah, the sets seem like fair letdowns, but the flavor of most cards, and the versatility of a select few others, have me approving of the block anyways. ![]() Plus shock lands. Gotta love shock lands, haha!

Plus kills anything that connects with you? I want to just run a 1of for the sake of playing her. With current Standard, you need a creature that either accelerates your game plan (mana dorks) or has an immediate impact on the board. Look at all the other creatures that Junk Reanimator runs: Resto probably blinks something, Slime kills a land, Tusk gains 5 life, Centaur Healer gains 3 and trades w/ most things out of Naya Blitz, Obzedat is a 4 point life swing once it enters, and Angel of Serenity is the win-con. I'm toying around for now with the Aid as a 5th Unburial Rites and possibly a way to get back an artifact card or PW in sideboarded games, Blood Baron is pretty difficult to kill (dodges UW Charm, Putrefy, Murder, Dreadbore, BW Charm) but it might just be a win-more card, and Putrefy out of the SB is just straight-up better than most other spells we could use pre-DGM. Personally, I expect Mizzium Mortars, Bonfire and Pillar of Flame to make a resurgence in the metagame, as the target number is 4 toughness for more expensive cards, and 2 toughness for cheaper ones, and Naya Blitz is still going to be a thing, so people will need simple, cheap, and hard answers to that deck. It I play or reanimate a Teysa, I'm probably tapped out for it and leave her totally vulnerable to every removal spell in the format. She might be ok as a 1-of out of the sideboard, but I doubt her even then.

Hm. Time to figure out if I can play ChicksWithHoods.dec Naya or Bant I wonder... On April 22 2013 09:52 Judicator wrote: I feel like Teysa had some kind of interaction that I am whiffing on that made it impossible for her to come down at least at 4 or 5 (with adjusted stats obviously). Can't think of one. On April 22 2013 20:13 nanospartan wrote: I mean, there's Glimpse of Na-I mean Beck and Call thats just begging to be broken, Voice of Resurgence and...? Advent of the Wurm is playable? Like Splinter Twin and Pod, it's very much a creature based combo. Which is also why everyone tries to cram in stuff like 4x Lightning Bolt/Path/Combust/Purge into everything. Don't know what the new Elves fundamental turn is. But it should be at least 4. EDIT: Also, Dimir design is just lazy. Cipher had a lot of potential but nearly every card sucks.

Obzedat seems much better vs any form of control deck with inefficient instant speed removal while Blood Baron just seems to shit all over aggro decks. I'm going to try to force a Junk Aggro or Junk midrange deck that's similar to the one I'm running now. I don't really want to invest in Falkenraths or Reckoners. I'd rather invest in decays, deathrites and the like that are playable in other formats as well.i have no idea where I'm going to take it yet but it's off to deck building!

I think it's mostly for limited health, you don't want a format where your opponent can hold up W with a centaur in play and you have to worry that you are gonna get blown out by a 1 mana spell that is pretty good in the first place (unlike Dispel).
