Ever played resto druid PvP? Almost every single button on the keyboard is bound to something. And then when you switch forms you have another set of abilities for that to! I played resto druid in wotlk, Basically you used something like 12 spells (including all forms). It basically only came down to timings on cyclone and spamming heals while running around and using bear for stun. If you look at DotA on the other hand most heroes had 4 spells. Yet it is incredibly complex. Yea I played in Season 3, or maybe it was 4 idk, but you really didn't use many spells, the only "complexity" present was in positioning and timing. Even that was like nothing compared to the complexity of an RTS like Starcraft though, or even a Moba like DoTa. I just really think trying to claim WoW is complex is like trying to claim a tree is tall when you've got a skyscraper right next to it that would be the complexity of strategy games. I don't really think MMO's are built to be complex anyways in terms of gameplay. The only real challenge of MMO's comes from teamwork and group organization/coordination. From the perspective of a single person doing their individual role, it's really simple (relatively speaking).
Exactly. I have played quite a bit of WoW, and from my experience the main difficulty of the game is to find people who are not retarded. You don't even need GOOD players, it is hard enough to find a full group for whatever you do that is completely void of retarded players. Like the ones who get hit by a spell that has 6 seconds casttime and 15 yards range, or the dps that do half the dps you should do with the equipment they have. Or the people who are unable not to walk into gas clouds. Seriously, i think nearly nothing is harder than getting 25 people who are all not braindead into the same raid. Usually the difficulty in playing is not the actual raid, but to counter the idiotic stuff your teammates pull sometimes. And if only 5-10 people do something retarded sometimes, that means that every single try someone does something retarded.

Those are the best implementations imo. The others.... meh.

Except if you took the time to read as to how they are designed you would realize that they are not green people with plants on their head/body. That's what they where before the redesign.
I am honestly really amazed at the redesign, Caithe looks just like how I imagined her from reading the books, nothing needs to be retconed. All in all Anet succeeded in designing a new race that I am sure will be appealing to a lot of people, not to mention everyone on Guru except for a few is delighted by it. They are not green elves anymore and I am happy with it, unlike some other unimaginative races "cough* worgen/goblin *cough*

i was waiting for something not so human looking

IMO they look too much like humans.

Yeah, the first time I looked at this picture I thought all 4 images were concept art, I didn't realize that 2 of them were in game models. It's really amazing how well arenanet artists can transfer their great concept art into in game art.

That is very humanesque, tbh. Also, wtf female tree boobs?

It just occurred to me, imagine how many polygons a Sylvari player model consists of? I wonder if a mass of Sylvari in a particular area is laggier (theoretically) than humans? I would imagine quite a bit so.

There are already very detailed Armors in GW1 and they don't produce lag, so i don't think having a lot of sylvari will cause any. The programmers and artists of GW are quite good and seem to have some tricks available to deal with high detail.

Fair enough, I never played GvG for too long(I did, but that was in the 2006/2007 era of the game). HoH is just horrible. Everything is full of lameways beause everyone figured out that playing balanced was the only way to require SOME skill, and they just want to lame their points.
Maybe I'm just too pessimistic about it. Maybe GW2 will be awesome. I don't know, but at least I would be very surprised if that will be the case.
@Sylvari Redesign: Yep, they really like their graphics. (Deservedly so)

By the way guys, what happened to the Goblinarmy in GW? There's like 5 members now, of which some have logged in 4 years ago...

Oh my god, their art teams are AMAAAAZING. I really hope I can work there one day, but for now I'm no good. But I can see good art with my own eyes -- and I can tell you folks this; Arena Net knows how to produce quality artwork. The design, the gesture, the pictorial elements....everything is there. I'd dare to say they have the best design team in the entire industry, which is a huge feat considering all the talented artists out there.

They've won many awards recently agreeing with you - - that they have the best art teams in the industry.

Yeah. It's a shame MMOs are more constrained graphically than other genres because their concepts / videos really are great.

Well one example of concept art becoming perfectly represented in game is the Caithe pic up above. That's amazing.
