Then you have crafting alowing you to really do exactly what you want (quality is also better at equal levels). Personal quest has fixed rewards and I'm not sure about dungeon bosses. Personal quests do often give you a choice of what kind of statbonuses you want on your item. I really like that feature so I thought I should mention it.

Is it like a traditional MMO where you start at level 1 and do quests/grind to get to level 80, and once youre level 80, you get to do all the end game pvp/pve content? The end game is kinda unclear atm. We know there will be dungeons and dragons (*wink*), but not much more.

But I do know that a lot of people on Reddit are complaining about camera smoothing, as well. ANet does look at reddit from time to time so just bump/upvote that reddit thread. It can help.

I think I read somewhere that they said in a developer interview that as well as the end-game dungeons and bosses, the end-game zones will be entirely dynamic events, and epic ones at that. Apparently, the zone will start as a D-day style storming the beach situation with players having to take hold of several objectives before opening up the final dungeon. While not exactly ‘endgame’ per se, Orr, the oldest human kingdom in Tyria, plays a significant role in the later content of Guild Wars 2. Orr is comprised entirely of complex dynamic events that web out as you push through the zone. According to Flannum and Johanson, Orr will contain around twice as many events as other areas of the game. Heck, you won’t even find heart NPCs in Orr. In fact, Orr is probably the most dangerous (PvE) zone in Guild Wars 2. In order to progress through Orr, players will have to make it to and control the various temples and statues strewn throughout the zone. Controlling these areas will grant passage to the zone’s dungeon. Colin described advancing through Orr as a sort of storming the beaches of Normandy experience. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/473/feature/6574/The-Legendary-Endgame.html

solo and multi-play through diablo3 was unfortunately very bland for me once everyone hit inferno i don't think i'll be able to play gw2 with TL very much. actually, i kinda` prefer the solo route though that wasn't really viable in gw1 do you guys think parties will have to be full for it to be a smooth experience through gw2? i remember a lot of situations in gw1 (before expansions) being very hard if you didn't have a certain sort of class balance. i think i'll honestly be playing this game by reaction//what i see rather than planning everything out and organizing at many turns. what did you feel was very important coming out of the beta test? one of the things i'm looking forward to the most is not having to rely on a healer and a tank, rofl.. i've been tired of that tradition in online games for a while now

It's pretty much open-world now in GW2 with limited instancing as opposed to the strict instancing in GW1, so you won't need a party to do basic exploring and stuff. The "main quest" is replaced by a "personal story" that is designed to be done solo and loads you into a separate instance away from the open world, but you can also have friends pop in to help you do the missions cooperatively. It seems like the dungeons will have to rely on the conventional party system, but I didn't do any dungeons during my time with the beta. However, because they're trying to get rid of the "holy trinity" class system in GW2, theoretically you can have any combination of classes when doing dungeons, though some combinations will obviously be more efficient than others. I think someone mentioned here or elsewhere that they were able to go through a dungeon with only Engineers, with each Engineer able to specialize in different skills for a more varied experience despite everyone only being one profession. Otherwise, you can easily play through the game solo. The dynamic events don't really require any organization. You can just run in and help a group complete a dynamic event, or just ignore it and run away if you don't feel like doing it. You don't really need to commit to joining any groups to do stuff. It's really up to you how you want to play. I don't think I talked to a single person during my entire beta experience, but that's how I usually like to play. I just ran around, doing whatever dynamic events I bumped into or ignoring the ones that I didn't feel like doing.

There are SOME dynamic events you cannot solo, generally the ones at the end of event chains that involve a big boss fight and a giant chest. When those events do occur though there is a map-wide alert so you should never have trouble finding players eager to help you.

Indeed, but I think my definition of "solo" was going through the game without being bound and committed to a group most of the time. Obviously, you can't do everything by yourself, but the nature of dynamic events means that a loner can join in with other loners and groups to do an event without being forced to form a party or anything, so they can abandon the event at any time for other commitments.

Oh, if that's what you meant then that's 100% true. You can theoretically not speak a single word of English and do basically everything the game offers bar high level competitive sPvP

I always gravitate towards the rarer classes in MMO games, but I don't have a clue what classes are likely to be the least played.

I'd wager (based purely on what I recall seeing) in order from least played to more played. Engineer Necro Mesmer Ranger

1) Elementalist (14.0%) 2) Warrior (13.5%) 3) Guardian (13.2%) 4) Mesmer (13.2%) 5) Thief (12.3%) 6) Ranger (12.1%) 7) Necromancer (11.3%) 8) Engineer (10.5%) Take these numbers with a grain of salt, because that site has been collecting data for quite a while. They may not accurately reflect current opinions from the latest beta weekend/stress tests. Engineer for example used to be below 10%, and Mesmer has dropped somewhat after the initial hype. What Firebolt145 said about the necro is probably true...it seemed pretty bland compared to the other professions I tried (every weapon felt the same).

I'll be rolling something else probably because of that, but it is a nice class to play if you dont want to put effort into playing I'm guessing you only played him during BWE1 and 2, during which he was borderline overpowered with that one build and underpowered with every other build. The condition focused build was nerfed heavily before BWE3, to the point that even the main game designer admitted that the necro was one of the two classes in need of the most love (along side the mesmer). Sure enough there have been quite a few changes across all the recent stress tests that people are generally happy about.
