It's pretty obvious that WvW will be for PvE farmers, while serious PvP (arenas, whatever) will allow you to create max level (PvP only) characters instantly.

If anet can deliver I see WvWvW as a great way for PvP loving players to so to say test their steel against other guilds. How do you think PvE farmers will benefit more from this?

And to answer your question, if you only want to play PvP why should you have to PvE and level a guy from 1-80? Because a level 1 who is autoleveled to 80 in PvP will still get beaten by a level 80 in WvW because gear stays the same, if you are talking about purely competitive PvP I guess you don't have to level to 80 in PvE. WvW is set up so that a lower level can compete with a higher level, but the higher level will still have a distinct gear advantage at the end of the day. I also think you can level up via WvW, unsure though. That's if you enter PvP with a PvE character. If it's like GW1 then you can create a PVP ONLY character who will have max lvl gear. They've said countless times that this is NOTHING like Guild Wars 1. Stop comparing it to that. It's only Guild Wars in name and lore and how you pay for it. For better or worse. alot of skills have the same name and the same icon and the same effect. classes, races and the whole world is almost the same. it is like gw1, the engine is different and overall the game genre is different, yet its comparable

Keeping up to date.
"Guild Wars 2 uses a heavily modified Guild Wars game engine which includes support for true 3D environments, more detailed environments and models, better lighting and shadows, new animation and effects systems, plus new audio and cinematics engines and a more flexible combat and skill-casting system."

Doing WvWvW lvls you up faster than doing PvE in the zones, and you get more money and karma too. The small amount of NPCs also drop loot on par or better than what you find in zones.
Long as you have a huge roaming group of people in WvWvW to just zerg places and cap them quickly that is by far the fastest way to grind lvls away imo. It's also tons easier and you won't die nearly as many times if you just went into the world.

I know this beta is for those who got in and press. That means that we will be able to see some new videos this monday ? Maybe the skill tool with all the traits ?

Any word on an open beta or release date? I can't wait to play

But don't you have to do PvE stuff to get those extra points, forget what they're called, that let you buy new skills for your 6-10 slots?

You can either lvl up and get a skill point per lvl or you can get several skill points in random places in the world by doing challenges. WvWvW uses your actual character and gear. Doing instant PvP 5v5 uses alrdy loaded out lvl80 who you can customize if you choose.
Also have trait points which you get per lvl once reaching lvl10. You're trainer allows you to re-distribute them and etc. They give flat stats, some %'s and passive buffs depending where you spend them.
I'll try to answer any questions you guys have. lvl25 was the highest the zones would go. No dungeons available, though found 1 lvl80 raid/dungeon portal that I wasn't able to pass through lol.

I heard there was going to be some sort of pay to win in GW is there a link that explains it?

We have heard absolutely nothing on when creating a character you make it PVP only. And yes, it does mean their design philosophy has completely changed if they're trying to make a game that is nothing like the first one and is balanced completely differently. We simply don't know how everything works yet. "Unlike Guild Wars, there will be no differentiation between PvE and PvP characters, so the same character can be used to enter both instances." So no PvP only characters.
Ugh So they took out the whole " I can go play high level PvP aytime I want without leveling a PvE character before ? "

No, you only need to be level 2 to participate in high level Instanced PvP with equal footing vs everyone else.
For WvW, you can enter at level 2, however you are not given all of your traits and abilities like you are in Instanced PvP. You are bolstered up to level 80.

Thank for the clarification. I was getting a bit scared. The concept of being able to PvP in a MMO without spending hours to level up the character and get the gear is what attract me in GW2 so yeah. Was a bit scared.

The beginning of the vid was quite informative but the last part struck me as strange
I just heard a lot of "probably this" and "maybe that", the conclusion might be correct but only if the cost of the gems is high, which is a really big if.
To put it bluntly, people can pay to win somewhere, the question is how much they have to pay to win and where they can press their advantage.
