I'll have to see what the endgame is like. No monthly fees makes me SUPER DUPER suspicious. And Tera is already expanding although Korean MMO's also have a tendency to not expand enough, like Aion.
I also get worried by terms like "we are doing away with the holy trinity"
Ill try to get a beta key anyway.
Unfortunately, the beta signup only lasted 48 hours, so it's too late for that.
Graphically, I don't think it's too interesting to compare technical details. The art direction is far superior in GW2 and that brings a lot more to the game IMO.
There has been claims about removal of the holy trinity, but first of all it isn't true, and second of all, it's nothing to worry about since if they did remove it, they did it because they prefer another system which is something one should be interested in testing instead of being sceptical with no knowledge of the details. Every class in GW2 can heal and every person is responsible for their own health. That doesn't mean groups won't have dedicated healers and no group tactics, it just means that healers won't spam-heal people who constantly take damage, instead there's skill needed on both parts, the healer needs to heal effectively while everyone can help out by minimizing the damage they take.
Is there anyone, that participated in beta, and was also plaing some Monster Hunter games in the past? I am wondering, how similar are gameplay mechanics in this two games. From movies it looks almost the same... And that makes my hype soooo much, because Monster Hunter games have such a bad ass fight mechanic... If Tera have something like that, I can potentially waste a lot of time playing it;)

It's not Monster Hunter unfortunately, if you want something close you could always try Hunter Blade (the chinese MH Frontier clone, since it was released in the US too), however it does get a lot closer to the feel as you approach the endgame more, monsters or in particular the 'BAMs' (Big-Ass Monsters) they advertise do begin to become much more diverse and complicated, and with the action and control oriented gameplay there ends up being a fair deal of things to consider from most classes perspective (of course just like if you were a Gunner in MH, an Archer or Sorceress in Tera will still be aiming to for the most part, run and gun).
I will however say that from the perspective of me and a few other MHers I have played with, our view of Tera so far is very fun, and quite successfully interactive, action and team oriented. Just to note, if you're a GS at heart on MH like myself, Berzerker is the GS closest class, not Slayer.

Last Beta I'm pretty sure they opened at 3pm EST (it was said they would open at Noon PST, I'm pretty positive of this as I wasn't going to be home to play immediately, but if it was at Noon EST that day, then I could have been.) -
One of my personal biggest complaints about a good share of MMOs was the availability of goldselling services, which in a game like Dungeon Fighter Online does have a significant effect in ruining the game economy, but worse yet when the governing game publisher does nothing about it. Watching as global announcements constantly ask you to congratulate goldfarming bot characters with names like "fhhhhehjajsl" and "lllllllllliiiewieus" is embarassing. It's probably been mentioned but Tera has taken an attempt at combatting this to a degree, and in turn also enabling a system of playing for (potentially) free. Still of course have to see exactly how successful this is, but I am definitely happy to see some effort being made at all.
Admittedly I've been meaning to sign up to TL for a good while now for SC2 goodness, but seeing a Tera thread, I just had to post.
How can I find out if the key I got from a nice TL'er (thanks) is working for this CB phase? The FAQ states that there are specific keys for the CB phases and my account only shows "active". Btw, I'm on NA, not EU.
If it is a preorder key then you're good for all the betas but if it was a key from a gamingsite then there's no real way to know. My account also says active but my code from zam.com was only good for cb2.
The main thing that interests me in GW2 is that they try to innovate the quest system. This is also my only real doubt of this game: in WoW I despised leveling up characters, just mindlessly doing quests, and I fear its the same in Tera. I guess I will see this weekend :D.
Expect 500+ more people with opposing guilds outside velika everyday trying to be the top of the throne ! Sry got too excited.
Wait, what part of that video are you talking about? The first part just cut off before anything happened, the second part is showing a crowd of people, and then I stopped watching. Is the guy in the video a really low level? It seems like he has only one hot bar of skills.
As someone who was a top PvPer in Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, and Aion... that just looks boring as shit to me. It's basically a clone of vanilla WoW world pvp or Aion GvG with some aiming added in. I'm not trying to bash or anything... but it's the same as PvP in pretty much any other MMO so I'm having trouble understanding what's so special about the video you posted.
It just looks identical to Aion PvP, only far fewer players (and you can't expect 500+ more people at retail... the server capacity is nearly reached in CBT and there will be less endgame players in retail so if anything the amount of people in these encounters will decrease. Betas always have large fights like these and retail is always much smaller. Fights in Aion retail were 2-3 times the size of what's in your video and even those were half the size of what happened during the closed beta).

don't burst his bubble. Tera for next Hypemmo.
But as a person who comes from the same position (top PvPer in WoW) i just feel like this game will not come not even close to the awesomeness BC and WOTLK (well forget the latter...) was for WoW. There are still privat realm who only have PvP for WoW where people play on the highest level and there are more than 1.5k people on permanently.
All in all yet another MMO who people hype, buy, forget.

This is just showing 2 allied guilds grouping up for a big roam at northgate of velika. (Each guild max 300 people slot)
this is a very small small fraction of people in the beta that happend to be at war at the time..
I never really found anything interesting about Aion to be honest. It's just typical korean grind fest game with tab-system combat. No "real" skill required other than knowing what skill to use at what situation againts what class. In Tera, you have to worry about landing those skills in the first place :D Whichs adds a whole new element to the pvp/pve other than merely having a good gear.
You are "MUCH" more actively involved in war since you are literally there to fight, and not button mash.
P.S - Oh I forgot to mention the EVERYONE from Aphotic guild in AION moved to Tera. one of the biggest guild in Tera right now. TERA is where its at !

There are no factions. There are no factions. There are no factions. There are no factions.
If you've only played games with factions, it can't be emphasized enough how it changes everything. Ask EVE players why they have the best drama, most intriguing politics and best rivalries. That's what makes the game.
