It's basically a clone of vanilla WoW world pvp or Aion GvG with some aiming added in. I'm not trying to bash or anything... but it's the same as PvP in pretty much any other MMO so I'm having trouble understanding what's so special about the video you posted.
It just looks identical to Aion PvP, only far fewer players (and you can't expect 500+ more people at retail... the server capacity is nearly reached in CBT and there will be less endgame players in retail so if anything the amount of people in these encounters will decrease. Betas always have large fights like these and retail is always much smaller. Fights in Aion retail were 2-3 times the size of what's in your video and even those were half the size of what happened during the closed beta).
There are no factions. There are no factions. There are no factions. There are no factions.
If you've only played games with factions, it can't be emphasized enough how it changes everything. Ask EVE players why they have the best drama, most intriguing politics and best rivalries. That's what makes the game.
Why can't we have more people like Jibba. You are awesome.
Theres already crazy rivalries between guilds in the game right now. Really interesting. Can't wait for cbt3

From anyone. anytime. anywhere.
"Thanks bro for helping me do that quest" "no problemo pal!........ NOW DIE!!!"
Yep, this is actually one of the top reason why guilds challenge other guilds lol. we picked a fight with many other guilds by randomly stomping them during our roaming session.
So a whole weekend of EU beta and not a singe post during it :o
I guess I'll start then, a bit late :3
After not being able to level past lvl 12 on any character( I now got Archer, Zerk, Priest and Warrior all on lvl 12) cause of being constantly camped in lumber camp by 20+ something lvl27 guys, I've decided I will play GW2 instead.
I know, I know, play a pve server if im gonna cry but i would much rather be able to choose myself to attack someone before being attacked, even on a pvp server and especially when I'm lvl 12 and they are lvl 20+. Getting constantly ganked by high lvls when im trying to reach beyond the first town after the starting area is not something i want to spend my valuable time on doing GW2 here i come!
You must've been really impatient, sure there were alot of ganking there but it was by no means impossible to get passed.
After playing to lvl 24 with a lancer and 15 with a sorc. i have to say i enjoy the game and i am intrigued by what it has to offer lategame, not without worries though. Does anyone know how the balance between the classes is at max lvl, are there specific classes that are just better then others at dps/pvp/healing/tanking etc.?

I'm trying to think back to when I played Lineage 2. This was prevented by players becoming red for PKs and become at risk to drop all their items. Is their a counter measure like this?

How/why will it be different in GW2? (or any other open-world pvp game for that matter)
No open world random pvp kill whoever you want? EDIT: And any other open pvp mmo game has got 2 or more factions and more often than not have completely different starting areas wich makes it harder for the other faction to gank. In TERA, everyone got the same starting location wich makes it super ez to kill ppl. I guess that's part of the game's charm but im just saying its not for me. I might actually just roll PvE server
They do have the "villian" system in place, which basically makes u a villian if u kill other players (without them attacking you first), there are penalties to this, but as far as i saw, they were not there in the beta, so that should change for retail i think.

From asking lots of people that play on K-Tera at maxed level, they all agree that all classes are fairly well balanced late game. Of course some classes will beat others in a 1v1 fight, but they all agree that Tera is mostly enjoyed as a group vs group and guild vs guild settings 90% of the time.

They removed those penalties for EU/US because the penalties were retarded and people asked for no consequences. Unless a lot of feedback tells them that there needs to be penalties I wouldn't expect the current system to change anytime soon.

Tera = Open world FFA PvP. GW2 = No open world PvP. Different.
Only problem i saw with the outlaw system now is that if you toggle outlaw on, you'll just be an outlaw for 1 minute (out of combat), so there is almost no risk to it. If they'd only increase that to say 20 minutes or something, it would be great because then there would actually be risk involved, you wouldn't be safe for the duration, maybe that would make people think twice about killing others.
Sorry if this has been posted here but for people who want to be in the beta here is a place for a code for this upcoming session http://www.curse.com/betas/tera-online (March 9-11 I believe)

PvP Server Changes We've added more PvP rules with this update—it's now uncool to kill players 6+ levels lower than you. These players will now receive the red name of shame and their punishment will be left up to the community. You will now earn Infamy Points for killing lower-level players—60 points for players 6-10 levels lower than you; 120 points for players 11 or more levels lower than you. If you have even one Infamy Point, you will be labeled an outlaw. We won't penalize you for being an outlaw (having Infamy Points), but the community may retaliate as it sees fit. Infamy Points will diminish at a rate of one every five minutes. You can also work them down one at a time by killing monsters equal to your level or higher.
Ive been told the developers are people that left the Lineage III project to make this and people familiar with that game will probably start to like what they see here.
If they implement it so that the infamous drop items when killed we'd be pretty close to the spirit of lineage II.

Weird. Is there a penalty for dying? This whole system relies on infamy leading players to kill this person. People should be rewarded for killing someone who is red, and should not be penalized for killing someone who is red. That would be good.
You break crystals (socketed gems), some of which are kinda rare, when you die. Death is also pretty inconvenient timewise, and your stamina plummets when you die as well. Which can be expensive or time consuming to replenish.
Reward for what happens when you kill a red player is on the table. I think they are letting the community speak its mind here, Bluehole seems to be pretty good at listening to its community. Unlike some developers (Square-Enix, Blizzard sometimes) which stick to this ethereal "vision" and then proceed to pump out a shitty game, or product.
