Well, I'm feeling pretty glad I didn't order it. It sounds like there's a lot wrong with it to me and I actually really enjoyed DA:O.

Giving bad reviews tends to make developers/publishers angry. Throw some GOTYAY ratings around and they'll be more likely to give interviews, previews, allow their demos to be put on cover disks and so on. Giving bad reviews/low scores to high profile games ends up with people phoning up asking "Why do you hate us", no games sent for free so they can be reviewed and fewer companies wanting to advertise in your publication.

Extremely disappointed by the game. At least I'm not the only one, looking at this thread and the user's reviews on metacritic (2.8/10) ... First time I've been really angry against Bioware for making a sequel that blows a good series. :/

Played an hour.. so far not feeling the addictiveness like i did in DA:O. What happened?? :O
its so "Meh" for me right now.. And why can't i pick feats any more? stuff like persuade or sth.. maybe im not too far into the game to decide..

Both Dragon Age and this game are terrible due to the fact the only way to play the game is as a caster... because the control scheme doesn't allow for anything else thanks for another shity game and waste of my money. I assume your playing on a console? Tho I can assure you from about 5-6h exp the PC controls are working great for me (Warrior Berserker). The most important is to bind the "Target nearest enemy and attack" button. If you are in a 360 surround by enemies and you want to switch targets after you killed someone, just point the camera toward that enemy and press the target nearest->attack button. I've managed to bind everything the way I had my setting back in the wow (rogue) days and its working great. No comment on the game yet all I can say for certain is, I like ME1-2 voice acting much more.

I've been playing now for 7-8 hours and I have to say it is in fact just as good, if not better than DA:O so far, don't listen to the fools saying otherwise. Get this game.

What is the complexity/depth in combat like compared with DA:O? and also what is the length of the game like in comparison? I mean i liked DA:O but i felt it needed more BG2 in it, while this looks like a step in the wrong direction .

Okay, I finally played a little more than 5 hours, and I can finally say that this is, with Gothic IV, the worst sequel of the last 5 years.
Everything that made you love Dragon Age because of the "Baldur's Gate" feeling is gone. Mainly because Brent Knowles left Bioware, as I feared. It's more or less a bad adaptation of a Fable game, and only hack'n slash players will find in it what they want to see, not what is in it...

I played it for a few hours and I loved all of it. I think all the complaints in this thread boil down to the same point: "This game isn't an exact remake of DA:O with improved graphics and a new story, Q_Q" If you want to play an exact copy of DA:O, then you probably won't like this. The fact that it isn't an exact copy of DA:O doesn't make it a bad game, frankly I think this game is quite good. I think the diehard fans are just butthurt and need to get over themselves.

I pre-ordered it partly because so many people seem to be turned off Everyone was drooling over ME2 and it was quite a disappointment for me, so seeing how people are now dissing DA2 I thought I would probably like it
I am looking forward to see a different game, because I thought battles in DA: O weren't particularly interesting (cone of cold, petrify and the classical camp-around-the-corner AI abuse). Also there were too many skills that one character could access IMO, I was actually using maybe 3-4 per character and eventually levelling became a nuisance because I was forced to pick skills that I knew I wouldn't ever use.

In general, when you are getting used to a standard for several years people tend to have difficulties adapting to new stuff.

I disagree.
"don't listen to the fools saying otherwise" is not needed...
You can't tell people "boil down to the same point: This game isn't an exact remake of DA:O with improved graphics and a new story, Q_Q" If you want to play an exact copy of DA:O, then you probably won't like this. "
because you have no idea. They have valid reasons for their points. Just because people don't like how it has turned out doesn't mean you can say "well you just don't like the changes" because changes can be bad. You should easily know of some game sequels that have had major changes in gameplay and have come out worse. It seems this game has fallen along with ME2 in that a lot of it has been taken out, some changes have happened (0 inventory, very few guns, trench warfare) and maybe some parts have been improved but overall loses what made it's first game so damn good in exchange for LOLOMOREACTIONGIANTBOSSPLZ
I've only played the first DA and I couldn't get in to it. I got to the point of fighting off the zombie horde attack on some village and I fought them. Then I fought their respawns. And again. I thought what the fuck? OK...there very well be a lot of zombies in this horde, but please find a better way of bringing them to combat other than appearing. I done that and I set off to a new location free of my choosing.
I come across some dead bodies and examine them. Hmm...killed by wolves...might be some woOH SHIT WOLVES. Come at me you scavvy mongrels. We kill some wolves and then more appear. And then more. What the fuck? IS THIS AN ARMY OF FUCKING WOLVES OR SOMETHING?
Honestly I was pretty young when I played the Baldur's Gate series and I may not have understood it fully at the time but I know how good it was. Now this? Fucking what is this? Have you lost all your imagination and just decided, "hey, wolf land, they get attacked by wolves...like loads of them...because they're an issue in the area..." So lazy...I can't even express how lazy that is. From such a great company too. I was pretty disappointed with ME2, but that's another story...or a comic book

I like it so far (3-4hrs in). The thing that annoys me the most is the fact that all encounters seem to be built in waves. There are always reinforcements coming from nowhere. I really like the combat though, which is the most important part for me.

This game is offensively bad. It wouldn't be that awful if it was some indie developer's effort at an action RPG, but as a premium title from the supposedly best RPG developers in the world, it is just disgustingly poor quality.
It's like a really shallow KOTOR clone or something. It can't be compared to even the weakest games of this genre/game style like Jade Empire or KOTOR2. This is just a bad game by even the most modest expectations.
If you want an action RPG go play Divinity 2, if you want a modern CRPG check out Drakensang: River of Time. This game offers nothing

So it seems like this discussion can be ended with the following statement:
This game is not Dragon Age:Origins, but tied to its story, and has(might have, have not played it yet) recurring characters.
I do not get why people are so butthurt about it, i mean the fact that a lot of people enjoy it, just shows that as with every game, some people like it and some do not like it.
And now to my real quesiton, Whalecore, how can you play the game, you are in Europe just like me and i have to wait until tomorrow.

Let me guess, all 4 members of your party are warriors right?
DA:O is meant to be played like The Sims version of World of Warcraft - you have to have a tank, a DPS, and a healer. Try to get 1 warrior, 1 rogue, and 2 mages.
Oh god, Morrigan and Wynn own so much, they pratically nuked 99% of the enemies into oblivion in my playthrough.

I bought the game from EA Store 2 days ago. Found out about EU getting the game 2-3 days later. Raged hard because I threw money out of the window.. then decided to download a VPN program and connect to a Thailand-server which allowed me to play the game instantly.

Dude, what on earth are you talking about? I wrote about respawning enemies, not anything to do with the actual combat

I don't get a Dungeon Siege vibe at all. I just get a "bad kotor" vibe. That's the best way I can describe it. I remember Dungeon Siege being like party based diablo but with AI that sort of helped itself. I guess it's kind of like that, but there areas are really small that you fight through, the combat sucks, there's no real significant loot/equipment to find

Part of the reason i like gamespot as my main site for game info, you can easily see votes from the users and they tend to be somewhat in line with the review. Avg. user score is 7,4/10 right now, not exactly stellar ratings.

Sounds like i will wait until this game ends up in the bargain bin and get it then.
