that is one of the first pictures shown from DA2 several months ago... you really cannot compare the two. the graphics are definitely better in DA2, especially if you have the high texture pack on PC.

you would know if you actually played the game

God, that "OH IT'S FROM PRE-ALPHA" argument got old three months ago. That's the graphics that were on the Demo on DX10. It's fucking PS2 graphics, that's inexcusable for a modern game. da2 is technically more proficient in graphics you just dont like the change in art direction, anyways graphics doesn't matter too much for a game where you spend 30 hours looking at peoples faces they still haven't made people talking not look weird ish.

Oh wow. I'm pretty sad. This is the first game I've ever bothered to pre-order to make sure I got a copy on release day (same day as Europe in S Africa) Bioware releases have always been a highlight, back to the days of Baldurs gate.

I guess I'll still plug it in and not pre-judge but I have this sinking feeling that what people dislike about this game are the things that will turn me off it too.

I really quite like it so far. It seems like people were just looking for things to QQ about - it's great fun. I play on very high with the hi-res textures and nightmare. The reinforcement mechanics definitely add another degree of difficulty, at least in the beginning. (Not that far myself as of yet)

Having played 23 hours of DA2 and completed DA:O it's pretty obvious to me that DA2 is the better looking game. I don't know which game I prefer, they both have their flaws. That I'm so far into DA2 and I'm yet to experience any horrible 'mage tower from DAO' sequences yet is actually quite impressive. I felled a High Dragon today, good god that was a hard fought triumph.

Terrible troll is terrible, obviously the graphics are better in DA2. Also graphics doesn't mean a better game. Personally enjoy DA2 a lot more then DA:O, just hope the game breaths more freedom in compositions then DA:O which made me hate the previous.

The only thing I can really say (just from watching other people play) about the game that I really dislike is that there's no more top-down view. The graphics seem much more crisp, which I like.

Holy shit, Dragon Age 2 looks so much better than Dragon Age Origins.

Game caters to mouth breathing Call of Duty players. If you're hoping for a deep and complex narrative and tactical gameplay, then look elsewhere. However, if you love having awkward conversations with hot elves and skimpy magicians until you have sex with them, then Dragon Age is exactly what you're looking for.

The game so far is all right. But the story / ambience is kind of letting me down. DAO was really epic; the places you visited all felt different and unique, but being limited to Kirkwall and it's outskirts seems like a bad idea to me.

I'm only about 5 hours in, so there is plenty of time for a change of opinion, but so far it's really not what I expected.

The recycled enviroments turn me off to this game. I don't understand how they thought that would be a good idea. Dragon Age origins wasn't a sandbox game to begin with which is fine because a linear RPG can be just as good as sandbox style but come on Bioware. Not being able to equip your companions with armor? The recycled enviroments? Taking away the ability to choose a race (if you couldn't choose in the first game it would be an easy pill to swallow)? Oversimplifying the skill tree and taking out a lot of skills from Origins? The only thing that I consider an improvement is the graphics. They took so many things that made the first game great and removed them from the game just to make it different. Im so tired of RPGs changing their sequels so much just for the sake of change. Who likes playing RPG's where every dungeon is a straight shot and reminiscent of the area you just left. You could have taken Origins and updated the graphics and animations, create a new story and it would have still been awesome. This is a huge dissapointment by a developer that I previously though could do no wrong. It's not a terrible game but with the formula they had with Origins I wonder how they thought throwing it out the window and taking so many little steps backward for no apparent reason would be a good idea. Very dissapointed.

Didn't play the full game so I can't write a deep response from what I didn't see, but seeing the reviews makes me a little disapointed at the smaller ability pool and depth and the fact you play mostly in Kirkwall.
I'm concerned for Mass Effect 3 for coming out a little too fast after Mass Effect 2 and not living to the standarts set by ME2.

Completed it an hour ago or so, not impressed.
I started the game on nightmare, played on nightmare for about 4-5 hours, but the progression became so slow that I didn't feel like continuing it..

For example, fights never freaking end! I would stand there, spend minutes manually controlling all of my group members, guiding them around like AI-less puppets. And after all my effort, a new group would simply spawn out of thin air, again and again.

Sucks that they removed the top-down tactical view too, it was a great tool when running origins on nightmare.

Nor did I care for the ending, but I wont spoil anything..

And what's with all the recycled assets? I got the feeling that I already had killed most of the enemies I met.. I guess it makes sense to re-use things in order to keep costs down, but, meh..

I don't really get how this game got a 93/100 from that one review.

@ApocAlypsE007, I found the amount of abilities to be adequate.. The abilities avaliable differ from NPC to NPC, one mage might have X ability set, but another might have Y. Also you get access to the specialized talents that were in Origins later in the game.
