I know it says 1024MB video card, but do you need to enable DX11? Can you select options on which ones to have higher resolution, say characters, armor, etc. is high resolution, but the ground is just the base textures that came loaded on the disc?
Thanks.
I already got my copy, but this has been bugging me for a while. I'd rather not waste time downloading something that it completely pointless to my experience.
I've read a few comments that the resolution pack is causing massive framerate drops. Somewhere in the league of going from 80+ FPS to 15-25. I also saw a few comments that said that the people didn't notice much of a difference but that could be egregiously wrong so don't take it 100%.

If it's that similar that it only requires a patch and not entirely new mod tools it should be in ASAP imo. It's honestly probably not a high priority for them. Bioware is probably shifting resources to crunch time for the Star Wars MMO they plan to release this year. They do probably have one guy working on the DA2 mod tools, but I wouldn't expect it for a few months. Arent they different teams?
Bioware Austin is doing SWTOR and Bioware in Edmonton(?) is doing DragonAge.

Perhaps. That doesn't mean they might not be helping in some way like debugging code. Launching an MMO with the budget they have, franchise they have, and trying to take on WoW would require as much manpower as they can get.
The rumor is they're spending hundreds of millions on this game, the most expensive MMO development ever (before launch, I'm sure WoW development over it's entire life has costed more). They can't afford to flop.

So have anyone played the game? how is it?

The demo plays MUCH faster than Dragon Age and by that I mean you get to kill more stuff easily. I dont think that is a good thing, because it makes the opposition much cheaper and roflstomping is only fun for so long. The "basic attacks" seem to do a lot more damage.
One of the good things is the new skill system which has "improvement skills" for your existing skills so you could be more effective with it instead of adding a ton of others you dont really want just to get rid of the skill points.

Playing an archer on nightmare running "Prot" Warrior, Archer, Archer, Mage. It's fairly challenging at times. It seems much more viable to have a warrior tank stuff though. I do admit though I've kited a few hard mobs just like DA. I guess I could just not kite but there was a certain fight (not even a boss) with an NPC that would be really hard to do if you didn't kite. We'll see though. FF is on for nightmare and it is definitely needed.
Edit: I'd say some of the challenge is that it comes in waves, much more so than DA:O. So, you'll be like, "Phew.. that's ove- oh shit." And suddenly there's another round of them lol.
We'll seeeeeeeee.

I have to agree that the encounter design for many fights seems to be revolving more on reinforcements than in Origins. It really complicates tanking when new ranged mobs appear every few seconds and just go to town on your back line while your tank's taunt is cooling down.

I'm about 21 hours into the game now, Hawke is in his 7th year in Kirkwall. The game has marginally gone up in my estimation since I last checked in but this still isn't exactly knocking on the door of game of the year discussions. There's a moment in the game where your main character takes on a boss 1 on 1, which was pretty tedious for my glass cannon mage. I seriously rely on my exceptional tank Aveline. It's maybe something to beware of.

From having played about 2 hours i can say that the game is quite good. My impression is that it is as fun, but different, as Dragon Age 1. Of course the self proclaimed hardcore role players will find many points for criticism. And my biggest dream would be a Baldur's Gate 3 as well. But Bioware knows how to make their games enjoyable. I think Dragon Age 2 is not on the same level as the masterpiece Mass Effect 2, but i'll definitely have a good time with it!

The high res texture pack makes a noticeable difference considering that the current texture quality seems like a joke. I would recommend everyone who are playing the PC version to use this.

Also for those interested I'm running it at gameplay average 40fps and dialogue scenes 60fps on: 1920x1200 DX11 Very high graphical detail High texture res High quality motion blur AA x 2 AF x 16 vsync on
i7-950 Radeon 5850

What difficulty are you playing on? I've seen two reloads in the 10 minutes I've been watching. :D

One of the most famous French web sites just released their review and it's pretty harsh. They gave it 12/20 which is really low considering that they usually give good marks even to meh games (DA:O had 18/20). I wanted to buy it but i'm no longer sure

Can you post a screenshot of "very high" settings please (can't seem to find it anywhere)? I just went through the demo with all 3 classes and its pretty fun.

Yay the 2nd in a shity way to put a game out.... the controls are fucking terrible like the first game, and playing a melee is like bashing your face against a wall as you'll just end up stealing one of your casters as a main control later in the game... whats the point of that i wanted to make a melee not have to use one of my casters because their system is so terrible for melee... Both Dragon Age and this game are terrible due to the fact the only way to play the game is as a caster... because the control scheme doesn't allow for anything else thanks for another shity game and waste of my money.

Have only played the demo, but if the demo is a good representation of the final product, it will suck. TERRIBLE dialogues, ps2 textures and rediculously mega-action gameplay, the animations are just way over the top.

@Nazarid
I have no problem controlling a melee character. Controls work really smooth imo. And I love the new physical force system that abilities have. Really fun. Gonna try force mage on my 2nd play-through I think.
