I heard it's actually 40 hrs. Not trying to be nit-picky, but I've been spending lots of time on the bioware forums and this has been talked about a lot. Average playtime is 40 hours nevertheless, this just really depends on what kind of a gamer you are. I'm sure you can just rush through everything in 20 hrs or take 100 hrs reading every codex, story, and what not.
Also, about the graphics, they released high res pack (1 gb) today and I haven't tried it out (doubt I can my graphic card isnt that good), but that might improve the graphics if you're playing on PC.
I am disappointed about being stuck in one city as well =(. Hopefully it will have lots of content, I will still enjoy this damn game though. I've been waiting for a while.

well, those magazines tend to judge rather hard. 90+ is very, very rare. even me2 didnt break the 90%. so 87% and 88% still means a very good game.

"Only" 30 hours? Is that seriously a complaint? More isn't always better. A 1,000 page novel isn't an intrinsically better value than one comprised of 200 pages. Too many games, books, and films are padded with grotesque amounts of filler that the creators simply couldn't bear to remove, to their detriment. I'll take a focused, eight-hour experience over some meandering, 60-hour chore any day of the week.

Can I dl the highres pack if I ordered it in the store for pc?

Maybe this will help? http://social.bioware.com/page/da2-patches
I have no idea how much better it makes it though.
Also, it's 3 minutes past midnight. How do i make my game work? ^^

who wants to hang for the next 3 hours?

I don't know if it's worth waiting to get like an hour in tonight or just start fresh in the morning.

I'm wondering, does anybody have any idea how much the system requirements increase with the High Resolution Texture Pack? I'm fairly confident I can run it, but I'd like to get a general idea first though.
I know it says 1024MB video card, but do you need to enable DX11? Can you select options on which ones to have higher resolution, say characters, armor, etc. is high resolution, but the ground is just the base textures that came loaded on the disc?
Thanks.
I already got my copy, but this has been bugging me for a while. I'd rather not waste time downloading something that it completely pointless to my experience.

Downloading now. Cmon cmon cmon.

Pre-load just finished, now I just have to wait for it to release.

Are you serious? :D They supposedly have a scale of 0-100 yet you'll (almost?) never find a blockbuster game below 80 or so. Very harsh indeed.

Steam just unlocked the game (for us/canada) ^^

Hey guys. Have there been any news regarding modding?
|
Nothing about modding other than they said they are looking into patching the Dragon Age Origins mod tools to work with Dragon Age 2 since the engine is similar.

If it's that similar that it only requires a patch and not entirely new mod tools it should be in ASAP imo.

It's honestly probably not a high priority for them. Bioware is probably shifting resources to crunch time for the Star Wars MMO they plan to release this year. They do probably have one guy working on the DA2 mod tools, but I wouldn't expect it for a few months.
