A couple of corrections on the spoilers. They're still HUGE spoilers, so again, I advise against anyone not wanting the game spoiled for them. And most of the spoilers you posted aren't even major retcons except for Flemeth's; even then, they shrouded her in complete mystery, just so that they can tack on stuff additional stuff as they go down the line. + Show Spoiler + -The qunari horn issue is old now. They expanded on this by saying that MOST qunari are born with horns; there are special cases like Sten who are born without horns, like a genetic defect and given special positions. And then there are outcasts (the mercenaries) who abandon the Qun and cut off their horns. -If you think Anders is crazy because of that, then I don't know what you'd say to the fact that he assassinates the Grand Cleric and blows up the entire Chantry building with magic. -Not sure about this one, but I don't think that was the qunari invasion that Sten alluded to. The one he seems to allude to seems like a full blown invasion as opposed to a number of the vanguard stranded in Kirkwall. From what I've read, it seems like they're more on a mission to recover an item that ties in with Isabella's missions.
Edit: Please don't tell me you got your stuff from RPGCodex. I can't take it seriously if it was. No offense.
I can accept the Flemeth issue because like NPCs in DA:O have said, no one really knows anything about Flemeth, even if you managed to attain Flemeth's grimoire in Morrigan's personal quest.
From what I've heard from people who played it already (not as many as 11, but a fair amount), the story is far darker and they don't like the choices you have to make. There is no middle ground and if there is, it's not often and you're going to end up regretting more than if you take a firm stance. And the reviews were mixed; most gave it higher scores, whereas 2 of them were the ones who hated any sort of change whatsoever.
+ Show Spoiler +I have too much respect to use RPGCodex. This was all personally told to me by people I know. Maybe some of what I told was hyperbole because they are all passionate DA:O fans, but the gist of it is true.

from what I played this looks like it could be as amazing as the original
DA:O was the most amazing rpg I've ever played on my first playthrough and the different combat style doesn't bother me at all in DA:II so here's to hoping it's amazing like the first

Aside from the Mass Effect wheel, we can agree to disagree. But that's again, difference in opinions, which I won't get into because it's yours and I have mine. I pointed out RPGCodex though, cause I occasionally go for the lulz and the stuff you posted matched what they said a little to closely, and there was even a thread on Bioware Social where one of their members tried to troll with it, before the thread got locked down in one page.

Downloading from EA Store now. Can't wait!

Fuck, anyone else pissed off at the amount of DLCs like the ring of whispers and the antivan belt? I like to have all the items but I'm not willing to spend any more money for those. Oh well.

I thought that DAO was completely awesome and one of the best games I had ever played, but I also though that DAA was pretty much trash, so I'm not sure if I'm going to get this or not O_O I guess I'll wait for all the reviews or something t.t

if DA:O didn't play like an RPG, you must have a very narrow and specific definition of what "RPG gameplay" can be =/
|
I was thinking of DA2 with that comment. DAO can be considered an rpg, even if it's filled with boring repetitive filler combat which just makes it a bad rpg.
|
For those who found the game too easy... Try soloing DA:O. It's hard as fuck on the highest difficulty.
You will find plenty of challenges.
|
there are some new reviews from german magazines. gamestar and pcgames gave it 87% and 88%. main negative points are graphic (oh well ...), level design (repetitive dungeons and only one city), character customization (relatively few skills and items) and playtime (it only takes about 30 hours).

so then "action rpgs" with gameplay like DA2 such as torchlight and diablo series aren't really rpgs either right?
I just think it's a bit of a stretch to say it doesn't even play like an RPG
just because it doesn't play like the type of RPG you want it to play like doesn't mean it doesn't play like an RPG
|
30 hours ain't so bad. Graphics are kind of disapointing though.
|
I'm trying hard to remain pumped for this title but hearing that it will feature only one city really dampened my spirits. Of course I have a pet peeve against limited geographical scope. The only games with such confined setting that I've ever enjoyed were Visual Novels and games where a single geographical area is given exceptional depth setting-wise (Mirror's Edge, VtM:BL, Ys Origin).
In any case, I dearly hope that DA2 will feature some epic setting design, art-wise. As much as I love crisp, energetic combat animations, they alone cannot make a game.
