Considering how many third round picks completely fail...it's unbelievable that another team didn't jump in and steal moss with a slightly higher pick (or a package of third plus something else)..

that's what I don't understand at all. Same thing with Moss when he left Oakland. Both then and now, I'd absolutely consider him within the top 10, if not top 5 WRs currently playing. Even teams that have better WRs as good or better than him, how the fuck would they not consider dropping a third to have a ridiculous WR core??

A third is practically nothing at all. Even a 2nd for him would be a steal

A high second, or a lower plus a special teams player or really late draft pick is what I think he's really worth now. He doesn't have enough left in the tank to warrant a first, and a high second is stretching it a bit, unless you're an absolute contender. I think a 3rd + a player would have been reasonable too... this was a straight mugging that the Vikings put on the Patriots.

I don't understand why the Pats had to trade him. It didn't look like he was complaining about a low offer. He was complaining about no offers.

Here's what I'm trying to figure out: is Moss going to affect Shiancoe's numbers? Based on them having Harvin et al. last year I'm guessing it won't be significant, but it matters to my fantasy team.

Moss will be catching fades in the endzone (id hope if i was a vikings fan)

Favre loves his TE's though. It's hard to say. I would imagine he won't be as consistent, but he should still get enough looks to play MU's with.

Favre also never had anyone close to Moss' ability at WR, ever. Sterling Sharpe was probably the best dude, but only there when Favre was literally a kid (not an indecisive 15 year old girl in a rickety old man's body). After that, Freeman, Walker, Driver and Jennings. All very good players, but not even close to Moss' ability. He is an athletic freak, even in his 30s.

Shiancoe's gonna take a bit of hit in the RZ with Moss abusing corners on fades, but Moss's field stretching ability means he'll probably have a lot more LBs covering instead of faster safeties in the open field.

I'm thinking about starting Derrick Mason vs. DEN over Marques Colston vs. Cardinals. What do you guys think? I think since Champ Bailey will be sticking on Anquan Boldin, it opens up good opportunities for Mason. Colston is just... not productive at all. However, it's the Cardinals, so he could possibly do well... but who knows.

Yeah, you bring up a good point. I still don't think Shank loses that much value, because of what your second para says.

Doesn't really matter. They both suck, and will likely net the same amount of points.

yeah if anything shank (using that because FUCK his real last name) will lose TDs and gain yardage on the season. Farve does like TEs, almost as much as he loves whipping the ball downfield irregardless of the coverage

I'm still shocked as to why NE only got back a third-round pick in return. Last year, they traded away Richard Seymour, arguably their best defensive player, for a first rounder. Why couldn't they get anything similar to that for Moss, at least a second and third (like McNabb's deal)? Third rounders generally blow donkey balls.

I have available at WR this week

Percy Harvin versus Jets
Marques Colston versus Arizona
Malcom Floyd versus Oakland
Anquan Boldin versus Denver

I'm pretty sure im going to play Boldin and Floyd. So Percy or Marques?

Are you in a 3 WR league or is that a flex spot?

Do you think Adrian Peterson owners will be better off because of the defenses worrying about Moss or be worse off because Moss will get more ball time? Or maybe it won't change at all. I'm wondering because I am a Moss owner and he is my sweet, sweet money maker.

wat
this makes AP owners so much happier
Opponents have to respect moss and keep a safety back to double, leaves extra running room for peterson

Favre and Brees are throwing the ball around so much it's really hard to gauge who will perform better. Colston has been getting longer throws downfield and with a similar amount of targets, has gained more yards. Owning Colston myself and keeping him benched, I still say go with Colston this week, especially vs. Arizona. This could be his breakout week.
