I love Rodgers, but it's hard to compare them right now. He has a much better supporting cast, but I'm quite sure it wouldn't matter with him. He just directs the whole field so smoothly. It's amazing how much Rivers gets out of that shit ass line and lack of a running game the past two years. Jackson's good, Gates is great, I think Floyd is actually pretty good. But GB's got a leg up virtually everywhere but TE. Rivers's line can't run block, but they aren't a shit line. They just can't run block. They gave up 26 sacks last year, good for sixth place in the NFL. Rodgers is absolutely better than Rivers. I think we can see a couple more guys coming up in the next couple of years, as well. I think that Matt Ryan will be a consistent Tier2 QB. Like 22-25 TD's and about 4k yds. I think Bradford is going to be fucking nasty too. He's got no talent at WR, and a bad line, and he's in his rookie year, and the dude is looking SICK. It's not just the throws, but he controls the field with his eyes like he's been playing for ten years. He is, beyond a doubt, the most impressive rookie QB I've seen in years. I really haven't seen Bradford play yet, I really gootta catch a Rams game now... Sjax will make it worth it if all else fails. I fucking love the way he runs.
True about the line, I was thinking that I was wrong about that haha.
Speaking of lines, I don't think any have deteriorated as fast as the Giants have, good god. How bad were they vs the Colts?? Dhiel like lost 18 steps. He looks old. The Eagles line went to shit as well.
As much as I hate him, Vick was the only reason they did anything in those first four games. I still think Kolb will be a better qb when it's all said and done, but with no line there, if you're gonna throw someone to the dogs, at least have him be able to run and vick does that pretty well.

Haha, throw to the dogs. Funny.
Man, I know I've been wrong about QB's lately, but Bradford is nasty. I mean, his feel for the game... he was locked onto his first read on the left sideline, then, as if he had another pair of eyes, he throws to an over the middle WR after clearing the LB out. Watch the highlights of that game, if nothing else. His second TD throw was really nice too. I had the misfortune of being in an area that is (for some reason) in St.L's market instead of Chicago's market, so I saw that game instead of the GB/Det game (and I was in the middle of our state, wtf? Chicago is still closer).

Hey guys, someone just proposed a trade for me and I'm not sure whether to accept or decline.
He will trade me Steve Smith (CAR) for Hines Ward. I haven't been following the Panthers at all so I'm not sure what to do. With the return of Roethlisberger imminent, the Steelers pass game is bound to get going again. However, it's hard to predict how often Ward will get good yardage/TDs.
So what do you guys think? Keep Hines Ward or trade for Steve Smith?
My other WRs include:
Marques Colston Austin Collie Sidney Rice (yep, no joke) Michael Crabtree

Fuck, I need Miami to win tonight to pick up $125 in my office pool. I picked Miama 33 NE 28

@Souma: I think Steve Smith just suffered a high ankle sprain recently.

I'd never bet on a team that has a hard time scoring 20 points to score 33.

Monday night games do special things for teams and NE's D has looked less than exceptional.

Also, I wish that mother fucking Bradford would of come out last year so the Lions could of gotten him.

Haha, I think that's exactly why he didn't!
Also, Peter King said that Orton is better than Cutler. I heard this on the radio just about 30 minutes ago. I texted in saying that he is an idiot and they should stop quoting him because it perpetuates the idea that Peter King occasionally has an intelligent thought. I really don't like Peter King.

yep looks like i'm going to have to put my hat in the ring on this one. i'm a Bears fan, and after watching that "game" yesterday, here are a few thoughts:
1) YOU CANNOT BLAME YESTERDAY SOLELY ON CUTLER!!!! the thing football "fans" forget is that you win games upfront (translated: at the offensive & defensive line). if you don't have a line protecting a QB, you have a QB who gets knocked on his ass all game (watch any Saints film when Archie Manning was playing). if there was a percentage to where blame gets placed, i'd give cutler 20%. the other 80%? offensive line, mike tice, and mike martz. offensive line is obvious, tice because he should have his line prepared, and martz because he didn't make the necessary adjustments. now i agree cutler needs to get the ball out of his hands, but good Lord what can you do when a d-end is in your face when you make your last step in a drop? you take away the o-line from brady, manning, and brees then see what happens....
2) Jerry Angelo is an idiot. you build an o-line through the draft, and Chris Williams is the only o-lineman i've seen the Bears draft high since Marc Columbo was drafted. that's not winning football expertise. the reason why certain teams have success is because they understand the key to winning games starts upfront. i don't care if you have Joe Cool at the helm...if you don't have an offensive line, your team is bound to suck. alas, the 2010 Chicago Bears offensive line.
3) the "Orton > Cutler" argument: whoever is saying this obviously deserves a serious brain lobotomy from Dr. Kevorkian. like Ace said, you name someone that could throw for 27 TDs (albeit 26 picks) w/ no stud receiver, a decent TE option, and NO run game dude to offensive line ineptitude. after seeing cutler do that, and putting up RIDICULOUS stats last year with absolutely nothing in terms of big-named receivers, dude is an absolute beast. and the argument about did Cutler make Marshall & vice-versa is like saying did Joe Montana/Steve Young make Jerry Rice and vice-versa - just doesn't work like that. it's just two all-pro caliber players on the same team making magic....nothing more, nothing less.

hahahahah what a fuckin jackass, how can you even say that, even if your whole attempt is to stir up interest in your columns.... it's so fucking far fetched.
Stafford's gonna be good I think. I just think of where he came in last year and beasted out a TD with a bum shoulder. That's awesome. Heart like that and he's got skills too, I think they'll be fine at the QB position.

If he can hold up.
An interesting statistic on the comparison of lines for Cutler. In his last season in Denver he attempted 627 passes, and was sacked 11 times. The last two games, he was sacked 12 times. He has had one game as a Bear that he was not sacked in. I quote this station so much, I should just transcribe their broadcast...

fucking hell eagles are dropping like flies first week one...vick has cartilage damage, mccoy has a busted rib, and asante samuel + a WR (riley cooper) with mild concussions i love football ><

Oh man, I don't know if you're up and listening to the radio at 9 am, but I can't be the only one that turns the DannyMac show off because of how fucking stupid Dan McNeil is, right?

I listen to mcneil when B&B start to get too negative. When they are in a good mood I love listening to them, but when their show devolves into them baiting stupid calls so Bernstein can scream at them I can't stand it. The two shows compliment each other nicely. Didn't listen to the noon show today so I'm not sure what he was saying.

I dunno, I can't stand sports radio, even if they dont let retarded fans speak. Most sports journalists are fucking terrible already, and they often have days to research about a subject and still give fucking retarded, unfounded opinions. Like that King quote, it would have taken him so little research and thinking to realize that's a completely fucking idiotic thing to say, but he did it anyway.
Sports radio is the same terrible idiots without the filter. Ughhhhh

Real football discussions (although they dip more into the college game than the NFL they still sometimes link to NFL-related sites)!
I win this week so long as Marshall and Moss don't combine for -10 points. I think I'm pretty much a lock on that one =D!
And if McCoy is out my RB's just got a lot less dynamic, especially with CJ2K not performing these past few weeks.

Past few? Week 2 and 4. Week 3 he ran for like 150 and 2 TD's.
On the issues of links, I like the idea of footballproslive (not that you listed it, but whatever), but I can't help but feel something is missing there. But, in all honesty, one NFL thread is enough for me. While I like discussing football a lot, I hate keeping up with multiple NFL threads at one time. I'd rather just put all my thoughts on a week into one post, and then go from there. Maybe that's weird, idk.

That's big news man. One of the best defensive players in the league is returning to a struggling D. I totally forgot he was out, but that's at least part of the reason that D is struggling so hard against the run.

Someone sent me an offer for Ochocinco, Brandon Jackson and Dez Bryant. I don't really want to bite however because I don't want to drop any of the players I have at the moment, Brandon Jackson is losing touches to John Kuhn and rookie WR's (historically) haven't performed well.
