Actually, I just want to see our defense do better than the abysmal job of last year. I love it when Football comes around xD.
I think our defense will be helped by the fact that Mark Sanchez sucks balls. If the Jets need to rely on Sanchez to make up a deficit they will be in a lot of trouble. I just hope our offense can put us ahead fast enough to take away the running game, as I think our defenses main weakness is how fast they degrade when kept on the field. Cincinnati was dominating TOP in the first half last week and it kind of caught up to us at the end.

looks like the "experts" are almost unanimously predicting titans to beat steelers. do you guys think steelers will lose to titans? if they can't run the ball, I see how they could have trouble offensively. but defensively, if Chris Johnson isn't effective on the ground, do you think titans will do any better through the air than falcons did?

I don't think that the Titans will put up 60 or anything, but what I do think is that nobody's going to shut down CJ forever, and one long run + a bunch of field goals will probably be enough: I think Tennessee's much better than Atlanta on D, and we all saw what Atlanta did to them last week.

I was enjoying this thread so much, and then you showed up. : ( hahaha. Fuck that Pats.
Aquafresh, I take back what I said about liking you... now that I know you're a dirty Pats fan.

Frank Gore, DeAngelo Williams, Arian Foster, Brandon Jackson?
I'm tempted to go DeWill/Jackson just because of the matchups, but I'm torn.
Also, fuck Green Bay! fixed
I believe that you ride a guy while he's hot, and you play Foster again. After that, DWill has the best MU this week, so you play him (he's also the best quality HB that you have).

Haha Vikings fan? Fair enough, thanks for the advice.

Nah, Bears/Broncos.

haha I had him last year when I predicted the saints to win the superbowl before the season started
I had 1st pick and call me crazy but I think he will have a below average year this year. The team to beat always gets more scrutinization under reps by other teams so they will be prepared to stop him from throwing as well as last year I think.

Below average for him, or in general? Because a below average for Brees is still like top 3 QB in the league, haha.

Somehow I don't think its a great time to be a Vikings fan either better than being a Bears fan though, so I've got that

It's a bad time to be a Broncos fan too. Hahaha. It's okay though, I really feel like the Bears are going to right this ship soon. For the most part I liked what I saw out of the offense. The OL still had issues, but I LOVED what I saw from Cutler, minus that one triple coverage pass. Pulling the ball down and running it, as opposed to just throwing into heavy coverage was such a change from last year. His RZ play was intelligent last week too. I'm definitely excited about this offense. If Lovie is gone after this year, I really hope the next coach keeps Martz around, for continuity purposes if nothing else.

I think it's hilarious that people bash on the Bears so much because they didn't win badly enough against Detroit. Yes, the call at the end was a bad one. However, the Lions got a TD off a bad call earlier and only managed to score off turnovers. The Bears played a lot better than most people realize and I think they will surprise a lot of people this year. I don't think it will be enough to save Lovie's job (and that's for the best - I'm ready for a little more passion from the sidelines), but I don't think they're going to be the 4 win team a lot of people are picking them to be.

That should give you a good run down of mostly everything, with links to just about anything you would want to learn. Most learning comes from watching with people who know the game and having them explain what's happening. Also, believe it or not--I know this is true for me, and several friends--playing Madden NFL games helps with your understanding of the game considerably, but I think you need rudimentary knowledge of the game prior to playing to get anything out of the game.
I haven't watched the videos, but there are some here that would probably help you out a bit.
Other than that, nfl.com has good information, if you watch the playbook clips, and the official review things (which are segments with the head of officiating in which a controversial ruling is discussed) you'll learn quite a bit too.
All that, and trying to keep up with everything in this thread... you should be up to speed in no time at all.
Also, feel free to ask questions here. I love that Europeans are getting into American football, so I'll go out of my way to answer a question from someone overseas. There are several people that know their stuff here. Of course I'll include myself, and throw in Hawk (except he's jocks San Francisco's nuts really hard), Aquafresh, DKnight, KOFGokuon, eshlow, Gryffindor_us... I'm sure I'm missing a few, but those guys know what they're talking about for sure (even though I hate all their teams, save for eshlow's, and I take every opportunity possible to bash them). I only mention these guys because I've been posting in these types of threads with them for like five years now, and they're consistently in them making posts. There are, I'm sure, other people who know football well, and just don't post a lot.

I think they could end anywhere from 6-10 to 11-5, if they can limit turnovers and stupid play calls. The Lions are a bad team, and they should have scored more against them, but to think that game was anything less than pure domination is silly. When your final stat lines look like this: Lions Bears Total Net Yards 168 Total Net Yards 463
That is domination. No two ways about it.
Lovie will likely be allowed to finish out his contract. The McCaskey's (SP) do not like paying people to not work for them.

Yeah, I heard about that too, but they came to basically the agreement that you just said, because of the lockout. From the rumors I heard on the Score, the coach in line was none other than the Chin himself (Bill Cowher, for those who don't know the nickname).

I don't think history like that matters to a guy like Cowher, because I believe all great coaches think that they can be the first. If he doesn't have that belief, then he shouldn't come back to coaching... ever.
I think it's more likely that he'd end up in Chicago than anywhere else, for a very simple reason: there's more potential in Chicago than anywhere else. They have the QB, the have the HB, they have young WR's (some of whom look like they're going to develop nicely), their OLine is rough, that's a given. They have a very talented defense, save for a couple of holes in it right now. With a safety, LT, and maybe a CB, the Bears have all the talent to make a Super Bowl push. It's the best opportunity available today, if it were to become available today.
My guess is that Martz will be the next HC, though. Sadly, Martz is a guy that should never get another HC job for the rest of his life. I just don't think he's cut out for it.
