They better. Benching the starters is disgraceful enough. Doing it in a rivalry game? Nuh-uh.

I keep having flashbacks to Welker going down for New England in an utterly meaningless game. Knock on wood and all, but what if that happened to Urlacher or Peppers? The rivalry is great and all, but the game is still meaningless (unless a lot of very strange things happen to put Chicago in contention for the 1 seed).

The way I feel is that football games, ultimately, are played to entertain the fans, right? I think it's pretty boring when a team just gives up the last game or two. They may as well just forfeit if they're not going to try.

Yeah Welker played last year and entertained the fans for a few minutes... then ruined their entire day.

These guys are not merely playing football for the fans. They play for themselves, for the money, and for fame. Fans are just selfish pricks who think everything should be about them.

We would have lost that game with or without Welker. We played like absolute shit, and had been for awhile.
The Bears should try and knock the Packers out. The Packers are a seriously scary team when they have their shit together. The less teams like them in the playoffs, the less chances they have of getting knocked out in a couple weeks from now. In their previous matchup the Packers self-destructed, I think they had like 150 yards of penalties + a pick and a TD called back over things they did to themselves. Theres a lot to be said about a team that can avoid those mistakes, but the Bears aren't so much better that they can always dismantle sloppy teams. I'm worried about the Bears in general. They have played extremely solid on defense in all phases of the game, but the offense has struggled. Their yards come inconsistently, their points come off turnovers/field position, they have too many drive killing negative plays (mostly sacks), and the running game is completely attrocious (passing game is actually pretty damn good when it can get going). The Packers are one of if not the toughest teams to pass on in the league. Especially if you weight the end of the season heavier. Not a team you want to let walk over you into a playoff berth, ask the Bengals how that worked out for them last year, or any of the myriad of teams this weak ass mentality fails for year after year.

I'm still more afraid of the Giants. I'd rather not have to watch Cutler die while on the field. However, even if Green Bay gets in, they will not face Chicago until the NFC Championship. I don't think Chicago is really worried about facing Green Bay again in the playoffs; too much can happen between now and then.

I think the Bears want the Giants. They are falling apart right now. That defense that took it to Cutler has practically disappeared. If it were the midseason Giants, its a completely different story, but that defense is not the same at the moment, and the offense can't hang on to the ball. That is exactly who you want if you are the Bears.

Also, if they actually make the NFC championship game (as the 6 seed, they cannot play Chicago except in that game), they have probably reverted to midseason form.

I can't believe what happened tonight. Utterly defeating, in more ways than it should be. I screamed a lot, and then sat/laid with my head in my hands for a good forty minutes after the game. 97-94... had I not picked up DMac, I would have won.
That said, if I was the Bears, I'd want Tampa in the playoffs. I'd absolutely look to knock the Packers out of there. TB will likely lose in the WC round, which leaves you with a bunch of teams you know pretty well. Fuck having GB in there, and forget risking the Giants having another miraculous turn around. Get TB in there, so they can get the hell out.

Also, which team would you rather face? Philly or New Orleans? If you want New Orleans, you need a good 6 seed to knock off Philly.
|
You'd have to be insane to want NO first. Philly, no doubt. Their fucking defense couldn't stop Joe Webb, it's a joke. They have so many injuries, and Vick looked so human tonight. There's not a doubt in the world that you want Philly to walk into the swirling winds of Chicago one more time. The Saints are the team I'd fear the most. But I wouldn't fear TB more if they beat NO; the reason being that weird things happen in divisional games.

Also, the inconsistencies could come back, even if they string 2 good games together. I watched the Giants vs Bears, and Giants vs. Packers, and I really don't see the Giants putting anything together. They played absolutely out of their skulls on d vs. the Bears, kept it going for a few weeks, and coasted. The Packers, on the other hand, look pretty scary. It's a tough call for sure, and I think it'll be interesting to see what they do.

Oh God please don't let Tampa into the playoffs. The only team with a lower strength of schedule is Jacksonville. They only have so many wins by beating shit teams -_-
|
but who gonna stop my man peyton in the playoffs, we are to busy talking about the nfc how about the afc

BluFlu are you serious LOL?..
Patriots OWN the AFC right now. It isn't even close. The patriots are by far the best team in the league right now. That's not to say that they will win the superbowl, just to say that if you were to pick the best team right now, it would be them.
Eagles looked terrible tonight against a pretty bad team this year in the Vikings. I'm a huge saints fan, so obviously I would like to see the falcons lose to the Panthers, but seeings as the Panthers are freakin' terrible, I'm not too upset with the Saints getting in in the wild card and getting the 5th seed. With the 5th seed the Saints would be playing a team from the NFC West, and if you've been watching any football at all this season, you would know that the two teams with a chance to clinch that division, the Rams and the Seahawks, are both horrible. Not too worried about that game.
Just to satisfy Blu, I'll talk about the AFC for a little. How about the Ravens and the Steelers tryin' to win the division? I believe both teams are tied right now, so it should be an interesting thing to watch this upcoming week.

I'm telling you guys: The Steelers will lose to the Browns. It's a trap game. Then the Ravens get the two seed.

Once the Colts win out their division by beating the Titans this week, i think they have a good chance in the playoffs. Regardless of the 15 people on IR, they have finally established a decent run game taking the pressure off Manning and the younger receivers are starting to be on the same page as Manning. Hopefully Austin Collie will be back by the time the playoffs start, and I hope his career doesnt end soon due to the amount of concussions he had. Also the Colts defense hasn't looked like the 32nd or 30th what ever rush defense they were, stopping MJD to 40 yards and Darren McFadden to about 40 yards even after he had 3 straight 100+ yard games. I think the Colts have a shot like all of the other teams in the playoffs (maybe not the Jets) to make it to the superbowl.
