Indy is boring as shit to watch these days (partially thanks to injuries), and the Pats are the same boring Pats they've been since '01, save for two years when they were the league's best offense. Despite a poor showing, I stand behind Thigpen being the best QB on the team.
Eh, I understand what you are saying given IND injuries, but this is still the best rivalry of the last decade and both Peyton and Tom are playing.
Both teams are in the top5 scoring, and both have very suspect defenses, so if you are someone who likes to see a lot of points put up, this could be the game to watch. It's just too bad Randy Moss isn't a part of it.

Colts and Pats have never had any players remotely worth watching besides Brady and Manning, and they are both out there on Sunday. Must watch.

In what world was the Pats entire D not worth watching? Marvin Harrison, Edgerine James, Reggie Wayne when Manning bothered to throw his way, Moss/Welker combo... Freeney/Mathis (still there, thankfully).
The Pats offense was boring as shit to watch for a long time before Moss got there, then the team became exciting (though I absolutely hated them... still do). From '01-'08ish their D was one of the best in the league to watch, if you like good defensive football, because of the variety of looks they'd give an opposing team from play to play. They changed the way defense is played in the NFL.
The Colts offense was one of the most explosive we've ever seen for several years. Harrison, Wayne, James, and Manning were an incredibly high flying offense, full of shots down field resulting in big plays.
Now, the Pats D is garbage, the excitement from their offense is gone because Moss is gone (and wasn't playing this season). The Colts D is the same old D, minus Bob Sanders, and they play this scared, safe offense. While that is incredibly effective, it's not very exciting football, especially not when their defense can't stop anyone. Even as recently as last year they were more exciting. Dallas Clark regularly, it seemed, rolled off forty-plus yard plays. The injuries have wrecked their timing and rhythm, and even Reggie Wayne can't get open anymore because of it. I've fallen asleep during Colts games this season, something I'd never done with Peyton throwing the ball.
So we have two ball-control offenses with bad defenses supporting them. On paper it's a snooze fest. The only good thing is that both defenses are terrible so there might be some after-catch work to watch that'll be interesting.

Both are mediocre teams, and have been for nearly a decade without their Hall of Fame QBs. The competitive nature of both those guys is what makes the match up great.
|
I'm actually hoping that the Colts win. It's been who knows how long since both Superbowl teams made it back to the playoffs the year after. It's getting sad that at least one of them always gets derailed by injuries. Both the Saints and the Colts have a pretty challenging road this year.

That is complete bullshit.
The Pats D alone would have carried their team into deep playoff runs with a competent QB at the helm. Maybe they wouldn't have become the dynasty we know, but that team was stacked with defensive talent.
You have somewhat of an argument with the Colts, since very few QB's can put up the numbers that he has put up every year, and their D is built to play with an offense that obtains a quick lead (i.e. it's built purely to rush the passer). It's unlikely that there are more than a handful of QB's that could have put up remotely similar numbers.
But the Pats probably would have been a very good team for a long time without Brady. Brady made them incredible, but they were far from mediocre. Think about the talent on the D, it was stacked with talent. I'm naming off the top of my head: Rodney Harrison, Teddi Bruschi, Mike Vrabel (decent, not great), Assante Samuel, Richard Seymoure, Ty Law, and they got rid of talent like it was their job.
Some stats, according to nfl.com: 2001 #5 scoring D, 2003 ('02 was the year they missed the playoffs) #1 scoring D, 2004 #2 scoring D, 2005 was a down year 17, 2006 #2 again, 2007 #4, 2008 #8, 2009 #5. This season, 24.
The team gave up a lot of yards in '01, and '05 definitely. I know they were down near the bottom a couple of years, but once a team hit the RZ, they stopped moving completely.

The good thing for the Colts is that the other teams refuse to go on win-streaks to catch up to them.

god my backs suck dick who should i put out as my 2nd rb thomas jones or marshawn lynch D:

thomas jones over lynch for sure. Jones splits carries but has the opportunity to take all of the touchdowns in any game.

I agree mostly with your general point, but the Pats D has been mediocre since 2005 when Seymour and Harrison started to decline due to injuries, the linebackers got old, and Bruschi had a stroke. In 2006 they played only one team with a competent offense the entire year (Colts at Gillette) and got raped, 2007 they did well because they basically never had to play anything short of max protect due to the 30+ pt leads they were getting by the half, and 2008 (Matt Cassel year ugh) we had perhaps the easiest schedule in the history of the NFL, and 2009 we had a meh offensive schedule and a ridiculously strong schedule passing defense wise. They're finally starting to get younger and faster, but the whole defense has been in a state of rebuilding since 2006 when the previous year convinced Belichick/Pioli that it was starting to suck. I think they'll return to form soon though, I like our young linebackers and secondary, and if Warren comes back 100% healthy (for the first time in years) he's our best lineman.

Every week I have to grind my teeth to just wait until they decide to give Jamal Charles the ball. Not a single touch in the first quarter and yet to get one in the 2nd.
|
Well there is a TD for Jones, just as I expected.
|
They just really love limiting Charles. I don't understand it. Jones on the goalline I understand, but giving him 2:1 touches I don't understand at all. On another note, though. Cassel/Bowe combination is really coming together for those two.

Well, in '07 they were far from being mediocre with a great QB, so even if the defense point fails a bit, then my main point absolutely stands. Because '07 was the 18-1 season.
I really wish CJ would break a long one, and that the Cowgirls would stop being gay and throw a deep one to Dez.

Dez already has a TD. Don't be greedy, but I can completely get behind wanting CJ to bust one out. He's averaging 5.4 or something a rush this game so far.

He has 6 points. That's garbage.

I'd round up and call it 7. One catch for 7points. I would hardly call that garbage.

Thomas Jones keeps poaching my man's TDs. Fucking jerk.

Round up all you want, he has 6 points even for me. I need more points. And FUCK Miles Austin. I hope he tears his ACL.
God dammit! It's not that my trade was bad, it's just that I never make the right call now. Reggie Wayne and Dez Bryant playing, Steve Johnson on the bench with 16 points. Reggie Wayne is gonna score 7 today.
Why would the Titans pass on 3rd and 3 after a 7 yard run by CJ, with a QB that's never played in the NFL. So dumb.
|
It also doesn't help that CJ isn't doing anything. Projected 22.5 and has 5.5
