Anything with good penetration potential, cheap shells and good accuracy. I'd pick a TD myself, like the StuG III or the SU-85, or a heavy tank with good alpha damage like the BDR G1B (so long as brawling is your thing and you're good at preserving HP - thing has absolutely no armor).
Tier 6s are not as good for credit grinding unless you're into companies (winning companies, if you lose more than you win you will lose credits).
The most important factor about a credit grinding tank is that you have to enjoy playing it. If you can't bring yourself to play a credit making tank, it's not a credit making tank after all - just a token in your garage.

WoT tournaments are super fun, i've played some myself. Although i'd say they're more fun for the player than for the viewer, because as a viewer the gameplay can be kinda slow. You also need commentators who know a lot of stuff so that they can pick the details that make the game fun out. Tastosis casting WoT was nice, but it wasn't as good as if they knew this game top to bottom.

The tier 5/6 tank you play best in. I realize this isn't helpful, but until you actually play through a lot of tanks and figure out what tank firmly supports your playstyle's best strengths, you won't be able to get an answer to this question. Your ability to make credits is quite literally one in the same with how well you're able to perform. If I give you a tank that on average makes more credits than any other and you hate it/can't do well in it, what difference does it make when you'll make more credits in a "worse" tank you play better in?
What generally defines how well a tank performs though, is the power/penetration of it's gun. If you want a place to start, check out the M4, the KV-1, the PzIV, or the stug. They wield some of the most powerful guns and don't have many overwhelming downsides to them. Avoid artillery.

KV-1 seems good. sailed directly to second place of most net cash per game for me.
Pz. 1 C in the top for some reason...

Yes we need more stug players. Nothing feels better than one-shotting a stug in my m4 :-)

Haha, my su-5 just one-hitted a IS-3... 1500 dmg
That was most def worth 2 shots of gold ammo (made 40 k, most so far in a battle for me).

So heavy armor tanks are getting better? Dislike the change about cannon stabilization. Like the change regarding destroyed tracks.

So this game got a whole lot more fun when I discovered being a suicidal scout with a Russian B7.
Get as many detects as I can, then ram into someone hopefully killing them. Hilarious.

Nothing feels better than tracking and killing an M4 who couldn't hope to spot you with his god awful view range.

Just please don't carry that thinking over when you graduate into one of the Tier 5 lights.
A well played scout can carry a team in a high tier battle, but 95% of all light tank players are of the suicidal variety.

I had no intention of being a dedicated scout. I want to play with the T-34 which I'm reading is a fast medium tank with good fire power and relatively weaker armor.
Unfortunately I'm learning the hard way that the only way to get to it is to play with these "scout" tanks that aren't anywhere near as good as the other branch of Soviet lights.
I'm working on the A-20 atm and holy christ is this thing frustrating to use. Maneuvers like a cow, shoots tennis balls vs higher tier tanks and has the lowest vision range of any of the tier 4 scout tanks.
At least the B series tanks were fast, this thing slows to a crawl when it turns and doesn't have any other redeeming factors to make up for its lack of armor. This is going to be a long grind, hope it's worth it.

Yeah the tier 4 light tanks shouldn't get scout matchmaking, they are appalling.
I hate to think how many newbies have quit because of it. Especially as the route to the Tiger via the Pz4 goes through the shitty Pz38nA I think.

This game got very grindy very quickly. Not a problem as long as you enjoy the gameplay I suppose.

Hetzer is ridiculous with event bonus. Load some gold ammo and troll the big tanks

You can get the T-34 by playing the T60, T70 and T80. I facepalmed when i realized, that my grind with the A-20 was completely unneccessary. This thing is just the worst tank in the russion techtree. T-70 and T-80 play more like the T-34 as well, however, not the same. At least i can guarantee you, that the T-34 is going to be a very nice Tank

I'd hate to think how many newbies quit because they got the Tiger and were incredibly disappointed.

Yea it is. I finished my grind with the A-20 last night (bought some gold for a premium account just to speed it along) and I love it.
I can flank the heavies, I out armor and outgun the lights and against Mediums it's a pretty even match.
Playing the T-34 really puts into perspective for me just how bad the A-20 is. The vision range on my T-34 (once I upgraded the turret) is considerably farther than the A-20 and for what I give up in speed, not much, I get a huge upgrade to firepower and armor.
The best thing about the A-20 is getting rid of it. This T-34 made the game a hell of a lot more fun for me. Working on the Soviet Tank Destroyer line next.

Tiger is a great tank, just not particularly newb-friendly.
People only have themselves to blame if they go for it expecting to be able to solo the entire enemy team. In fact they deserve it if their username is any derivative of MichaelWittman.

Not really, it's fairly sub-par. It's gun has great penetration and accuracy and thats pretty much it. It's alpha damage is among the worst of the tier, and it's slightly higher DPM scarcely justifies it. Vast majority of tier 7 guns penetrate the Tiger H -anywhere- without really having to aim. A lot of tier 6 guns and even some tier 5 have an easy time. At this point it can't really go into a city and brawl, so it's now relegated as a specialist tank, aka an inflexible tank, only capable of sniping. But it's camo values are terrible and it's easily spotted. The only other thing it has going for it is that it's pretty mobile, but not nearly mobile enough to justify how poorly armored it is. Only tier 7 tank I can think of that is worse than the Tiger is the amx m4 45.
It's a great tank if you have a great driver compensating for it's myriad of pitfalls. Newb-friendly is just another way of saying a tank is outright bad. I'm competing in the tier 7 tournament today and the Tiger H is quite literally the last tank I'd ever consider using. The Tiger P on the other hand though...
