But if you like building, and you hate enemies, build some traps!
Wow, thats really advanced stuff. I wonder how many mob´s would fall there every night.
I was thinking about a trap (maybe it has been done before) where you build a very deep pit, and a lot of pillars 1x1, in a dark place, so mob´s spawn on the pillars, fall down and die. The bottom of the pit will acummulate the drops, but no mob´s should spawn there, so you could probably place torches there to prevent it.
One question, do items eventually disappear, or droped stuff stays there forever if u don´t pick them up?
http://i.imgur.com/MVPYvh.jpg This one is so much better Captures from a HUGE area and you don't have to worry about lava destroying items. Plus you seal it off and make it dark so mobs spawn there 24/7. I'm almost done making my own at the moment :D

I think he wants to be able to die and take damage... also i do not know if there are monsters implemented yet, but if not, then monsters during the night and in caves.
People can play the creative mode multi if they wanted, but we want survivor multiplayer.
And alot of features still don't work in multiplayer. The most important being that minecarts don't work, which is a real downer if you wanted to make a world with a friend. also you can't see your friends boats, not a biggie though.

This is nuuuuts.
I want to make one. Do you have any links with more info? I can probably figure it out from the pics, but would love any extra pointers.

I think the guy that made it said to make the ceiling at least 3x high so that the mob jumping AI doesn't mess up, and that the half blocks were to make it easy to enter the water but hard to get out of the water.
That's all the info I have, but I can relay my own experiences from building it
Make the lanes of water first. It's a pain to adjust the other dimensions constantly as you add lanes of water.
Also, lanes can be made easily on a level plane using water and half blocks. The water will flow naturally in one direction until it stops. At the stopping point add another line of half blocks and then another line of water. The other method (that I started off with first) was to put the water on a slope, which required a lot more digging because the trench would be 5 blocks deep by the time it got to the pit.
Building the lanes with those half-blocks also means it's incredibly easy to add another spawn level on top of your first if you want to expand, since trenches only have to be 1 block deep.
I got into game development and i love raycasting technology and it's history. It's awesome where these guys took it with the character models and water having rakes, not being just straight cubes.
It's great to see a game that values gameplay and the fun aspect over graphics and effects, you can see where the selling points are. Unlike most of the titles these days.

I love how creative you can be, it's such a simple yet beautiful game, and i for one looooveee the graphics!
I found out about the game from this thread and I heard about Seananners from this thread as well. Apparently you have your sources of information backwards.

I think I decided to give this game a try after seeing a link on Fark. I had visited this thread previously, but never bothered to go past the first page or give the game a try. Afterwards, I naturally went to Youtube to watch videos of people playing Minecraft. And I have to say, that of all the videos/series I watched, Seananners is the only guy I can stand; everyone else is either stupid or a complete douchebag.
I have a server that can run this if needed, but it would involve me moving some other game servers around and stuff. Basically, I don't want to do it if there's only going to be five or six people using it each day.
If there's enough interest I can put it online, though.

Ah, I would love that. I recently picked up the game again after playing it in the early indev days. Now after having picked up on most of the new features, I'm dying to play SMP, especially with TLers.
It all started with me rushing to a nice place to set up my basecamp since i watched videos i had a decent idea on what to do. after an hour on i found a cave just a short walk outside my base. i decided to explore it but i quickly ran out of torches. So needless to say i went back and got myself 10 stacks of torches and 8 iron pickaxes and went to the cave.. 3 hours later i was out on torches and pickaxes and i had to head back to my base... Now the problem was that this cave i found is freaking huuuuuuuuuge i mean seriously i spent over 7-8 hours there and i couldnt find the exit, and just recently got out. I swear to god the cave must be the biggest cave ever because im doubtful i've mapped (with torches) over 40% of the cave. And not to mention the enormous amounts off ore i've seen there (barely got anything compared to what is in there)
Seriously... am i lucky that i find such a big cave or is this common?

I guess it would spend on how much you're exaggerating and how much of that time was spent going around in circles. On my current save, I've run into a a fairly massive cave. I've made at least 4-5 different exits for it (by tunneling straight up), because I could never find the way to leave the way I came. Each area was fairly far from the other area, and I've found at least two natural entrances to it. One time, I was near the bottom of the cave, couldn't find my exit, so I tunneled straight up. I hit 4 large caverns that I didn't full explore because my bags were full. So I would basically tunnel up, find a cavern, go "this is cool", tunnel up from that cavern, and repeat 3 more times.

When I was looking for a way out I indeed walked around in "circles" so to speak until i knew the "general" area of where I started exploring from (couldnt find that silly ladder) I just didn't know caves in minecraft could be so big and branching out in all directions.

Well watched some vids on ytube on how to start out and the basics while also reading minecraftwiki. I got a lot of iron from the first base i settled in (a small cave) and i used it all on getting pickaxes. wood is everywhere so... Keep in mind that what i wrote was a dumbed down version of a long time

I think this is a pretty common occurrence, especially if you tunnel to try to escape and find more caverns.
