For legendary crafting mats look here: http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-general-forums/diablo-iii-general-discussion/83094-guide-legendary-crafting-materials-drop-locations
For most of the named enemies I just go into Adventure Mode and restart the game until I get the named mob as a bounty target. So I at least know he is there. I'm not really sure if all of the named enemies can be bounty targets, but most of them are.
Farming whites is probably done best in the Battlefields of Act 5, since there are a lot of armor stands. Another good spot is Act 1 Halls of Agony for the torture tools.
Apart from that you can still hope for some whites as random drop from enemies. I was looking for Ascended Shields a while ago and I actually got 3 of them from enemies and absolutely none from racks.

Where's the best place to farm weapon racks?
I've seen a few in Act4 but I can't remember where else.

Now that you mention it I've seen LOADS of weapon racks in that dungeon place with the warden. That area is always the same layout too so it should be quick to farm.

I think the passage and ruins of Corvus has a lot of racks as well.

Hey guys since there is no barb thread, I'll ask here. As a Barb how do you value defensive stats? I want to move on to T1 and beyond eventually. http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Latham-2213/hero/37979918 + Show Spoiler + How much resistance is enough, before the heavy diminishing returns kick in? Should I focus on Life per hit/life on kill for heals? Generally how much VIT/life do I want on higher difficulties? What should I roll on gear? Armor, strength, vitality in that order or? For offensive stats it is crit dmg = crit chance > strength > damage > attack speed?
basically I'm asking for some kind of target values or minimum values for torment

If you have over 300k pre-buff toughness you can basically do T1 pretty comfortably. Most barbs I see on T1-3 are sitting around 400k HP, close to 1k AR, and a ton of armor. You don't want armor on gear because you are getting a ton from your primary stat, All resist is much better defensively.
Offensively it depends largely on your weapons. Generally you want max CD on weapons and stack CC on jewelry. If you use something that procs a lot (i.e. Thunderfury), attack speed can potentially offer greater off-sheet DPS, you have to try different combinations to see what works best for you.
Here's my profile, I can go up to T3/T4 without dying much, but the dmg output is pretty bad at those levels without shard of hate:

there is a barb thread Jus that the class is so underwhelming to play at the moment that no one even talks about them anymore... wonder if they fixed the avalanche bug with this patch.

All I want to know about this patch is why isn't the nephalem rift cast time OPTIONAL? I mean, it wouldn't be hard to add a tick somewhere, right?
|
what are you talking about, barbarians are just fine and with shard of hate they actually are FARMING T6. Until that gets nerfed, which curiously it didnt last patch.
i dont know about melee, but my DH wants at at least 3m thoughness, where its 300k Hp and rest comes from resist/armor. 4m makes it comfortable in all situations.
melee might need more, but also gets 30% reduction.

I have a gazillion hours played with barbarian and right now I feel akward with it, too many changes since vanilla.
