This attack speed nerf will either make or break D3 for me,

This is gonna be a very noob question but...I just got the game, and every time i log in it asks me to authenticate either with the blizzard website or answering my secret question. Is there a way to just log directly into the game?

I enjoy the game but i nedd to get this out of my chest
diablo 3 creates artificial difficulty not with clever ability design or deep game mechanics but with buggy hitboxes and unstable servers.

Anyone know how monks compare to barbs in act 3? I suspect monks rely a lot on attack speed which if nerfed in the next patch will make things even worse?

Monks will probably get hurt the hardest by the nerf, so gear up and find an epic party!
I think right now monk+barb+glass cannon(pref a dh) is the best party setup. A monk w/ barb's warcry will have insane resists/tankability, which frees up a few of the barb's skill slots, letting him earthquake, super sayian, and have crazy dps vs every elite pack while not getting 1 shotted. The glass cannon is there to clear white mobs fast, and speed up kills vs annoying elite packs/bosses(dh mark is an awesome skill for that).
I have seen 2 hander barbs with 100k dps(3 dps passives). With supersayian+earthquake that does wtf damage.

I just started gearing my barb yesterday, 5 of my 12 items cost less than 5k gold(temporary), and I'm soloing act 2 with relative ease. Granted that my finished items are pretty much best in slot and worth close to 100mil.
With full gear I don't see why act 3/4 wouldn't be easy.

Not sure if that was directed at me, but I'm doing a normal 1h + shield build :D
Still itemization is relatively simple, str/vit/all resist where you can, but more focus on damage. Attack speed isn't important for 2h barbs(do not buy a weapon that has inflated dps from an attack speed stat!!!) since it will just incorrectly inflate your dps number since most damage comes in bursts via revenge. 2h'ers can be much more creative with builds as well, high crit damage can be amazing with the right passives/runes/etc. The cookie cutter build is to pretty much get near 100k dps so that your earthquake does 2000% of 200k(dps after wrath), letting you kill elites super fast, while maintaining enough hp/resists to get through white mobs with relative ease. Definitely not cheap to do, but having comparable DPS to the ranged classes and good survivability comes at a price ^_^

yeah, i just started buying my barb gear a couple of days ago and i'm in the middle of a3 with a 2her. just haven't fully decided on the direction i'm going to take it from here.

Don't know if you're still following this thread, but it turns out it's 73 hours. I must have played a bit more during the first weekend than I thought. That's still reasonable compared to the time that others have put in.

Well, how did you do it? Some special build or farming spot? I have about 110 hours played and I've just gotten enough gear to farm most of A2 comfortably, and I'm still getting destroyed in A3 by anything but white mobs (and even those are really hard).

Technically you could do this as soon as you're able to access Hell difficulty, as long as you can live through phase 1 adds, since all the phase 2 damage is avoidable if you're quick.
