The option is pretty well hidden. The option shouldn't have to be an option at all. Wait... are you telling me that there should not be elective mode? as a wizard ive had frost nova and diamond skin since level 9 as my number 3 and 4 keys. Yes, I'm saying you shouldn't have to tick a box for it.

All the items that are craftable only say "Crafted by".

that was my instant reaction too, but i think its a nice idea to see how newer players cope. a lot of new plays to games complain of information overload, by categorizing spells it allows them to have a smaller choice to get confused by at a time.
an experienced player knowing that he needs to have a quick browse through the options of a new game to set things to his liking isnt asking much, but asking a newer player to do anything can cause problems. so im ok with. the name could do with some work though, elective mode could be anything D:

They've probably done to validate the existence of the crafting in the game but its sorta silly just to make a use of gold. This means the items you get are far too rigid, when playing with 4 people we all get the same amount/rarity of items which takes the excitement of drops out of the game, yet to see a gold or green and I'm almost done with act 3. Most of the enjoyment I got out of D2 was seeing a gold/green item drop and then going to identify it, I don't want to have to screw around with gathering a lot of blues to sell/salvage to get better items, I didn't get D3 to play wow :| Most of my awesome gear came from drops, and not crafting. Most of the items seem to be similar, but with slightly fewer restrictions on dropped items. If your gear is in RNG hell, that sucks, but don't assume it to be weighted in a way it's not, it's just bad luck. Crafting looks to be in a position, at least at lower levels, to flesh out around drops, not to replace them. If it was intended to be a primary gear source, there would be more slots at more levels by default. I'm playing with 6 other people that haven't been able to get anything great from drops so far, no gold or green. We're getting the same amount and rarity on items so I really don't see how you can say that there's slightly fewer restrictions on drops because from what I see there's a lot more. Crafting has been just as prevalent in providing gear for me and my friends than drops. It's purpose is to use the massive amount of gold you gather quickly, it is a pretty crummy system but if it were just for lower levels then it wouldn't achieve its purpose in the game. I don't know if we're really unlucky and you're extremely lucky but the drop/crafting is killing all the fun for me

But the grouping as is would avoid the information overload. If it just defaulted to the UI the elective way by default, with each button defaulting to a set of abilities, but without needing to be looking for the option to check for it first, it would make more sense.
Because lets face it. Even for experienced players, you tend to skim aside from things you know you need to be double checking. You go straight to graphics, set them, go to audio, set it, make sure your mouse isn't set to get posessed by the evil spirits of prediction, smoothing, and acceleration, and then you skim everything else until you run across something in gameplay that annoys you, then you go look for the right option for it. Or at least, that's how I do it.
If I hadn't known about elective mode, I wouldn't have been looking for an option to do that, because it would have just looked like a moderately annoying design philosophy thing.

Yeah, what Dead9 said is true. Orange/green items are freaking rare. There's super low level legendary items (required level 3) but then they're not worth having. I found Leoric's Crown in act 4 normal, but the helm I was already wearing was better =/
If you have a party with strangers, you might not split drops, depending how selfish the others are. If you're partying with friends, there's so many class-specific items. Sometimes, half of the items in my inventory are marked with a big red x. For the non-class-specific items, they can be split to different classes based on the stats they give; +80 to intelligence isn't gonna benefit a DH much. But in any case, a person playing solo can probably have enough good drops/crafts to equip 2-3 people with good gear.

Seems like Method is kindda stuck, no?
Building up new chars... Farming Act 1 &2 Inferno extensively... etc.
They could not "rush" any further?

good,
they are way farther than they should be due to the stupid death rushing and reviving.
thats alot of work to put towards being the first team to "Cheat the inferno mode".
I wonder when the first legit team that actually kills everything will be.

They don't even get any more experience, so the only reason they have for killing things is for drops, right?
Regardless, you absolutely cannot say that rushing to a boss and ignoring monsters along the way isn't "legit". If it works, they can do it. If they're trying to get a record, then hell, they should do it to save time. They're not cheating.
That's like saying cheesing isn't a legit strategy in StarCraft -.-'

It's Blizzard's fault for making bosses too weak or easily exploited. Isn't one of the Act 4 bosses a gear check though, Patchwerk style? If the bosses are easy then of course people would just try to kill them for world firsts.

I agree - It is not cheating. Slightly abusive maybe, but whatever... anything goes to get world first I suppose :-)
Anyway... it seems like they are doing endless farming of chests in Act 2. Constant in-and-out of games. Seems incredibly tedious. I wonder who is having the most fun with the game. Husky & Day9 (and me), or these World First guys.

By the way (sorry for quoting myself) - I thought that Nephalem Valor thingy made it more viable to stay in the same game for longer, when looking for quality items? Have I misunderstood someting? Or is it simply not possible for them to survive for more than 2 minutes at the moment?
