Even the crafted Crossbow for lvl 25 only hold up for half a level until a white replaced it. i run around with a simple white weapon for half my playtime now -.- Don't just judge the weapons by DPS. The other stats are usually a lot more important. Think about it: How much damage does your character do with a simple hit? And how much of that damage is the actual weapon? E.g. my barbarian is at the beginning of Act 3 right now and does about 200 damage I think. The weapon I currently wield has 30 DPS, with 32 max damage. The rest of those 200 damage per hit is Strength.

Completed act 1 so far and nothing really scary per say, just certain miniboss mob types that u havent seen before can mess you up quite a bit. Im surprised how much dmg everything actually does in normal, i've actually been close to dying a few times in act 1 as a DH. In other words even in act 1 normal i have to kite, i do however tribute alot of this to not having any life leech yet. I dont know how prevailant the stat is in D3 but in D2, you couldn't play without it. Speaking of nothing, does anyone know how to respec your companion? I took the when enemies hit my templar buddy they get slowed, which is kinda useless since if they are hitting him they wont be coming for me anyway.

The combat is a ton of fun but I don't even care if I level, nor do I care that much about all the stats on my gear. I feel that's because they made the attribute spending automatic. without getting into a huge flame fest on my opinion on the matter. simply put i think its silly they took them out. so what if in reality there was one build that everyone did? some people liked making nothing but full energy paladins so they can spam FoH forever (lol).

What I feel weird about is how ~90% of your stats comes from items. It certainly gives a ton of customization to each individual character, but feels like your base stats are totally worthless..

+ Show Spoiler + Did anyone else feel they kind of ruined the butcher. Now that guy scared the crap of me the first time in Diablo. This time he just felt cheesy. I would of preferred they just create a new creature and left him in history where he belonged.

What is the point of the RMAH if Diablo 3 is so short ( from what I have heard) ? What is the purpose of having the best gear in the game by buying it through the RMAH? Sorry if this is the wrong thread.

It makes you stronger and makes you feel good about your character. The only difference is that in D3 you can buy it with real money rather than spending hours of your time. From what I can tell, the item drop rates are lower in D3 than in D2 (I've got two characters near the end of Act 2 and I'm yet to see a set or unique item) so if there's the same number of unique items in the game, getting the really cool weapons might be damn time consuming if you don't want to spend real cash. Personally I wouldn't buy anything from the RMAH since I don't care too much about having a fully decked out character, but I can see why people would do it.
