Oh, and Strafejumping is as hard as anyone makes it out to be T_T.
Look for raz3rs map, and train on that. It only took me a couple of weeks to get pretty decent at it. Its still such an incredibly deep movement system......best ever.

The "Getting Started" section of the Quake Live forums has a walk-through for installing raztrainql_beta3. Best way to go about learning strafe jumping. Going to take a few weeks but it's an awesome feeling and the game gets 1000x better once you master it.

Oh come on, QL has such primitive slow movement, its nothing compared to QuakeWorld

I dont think i'd put much time into it, but duels seem much better lasting fun than the randomness of FFA.
By my perception, no. You can find low lvl players for duelling but very often u run into players who are x tiers above your skill ,even when its supposed to be skill matched, and then it gets realy frustrating.
The duell has its own randomness and the spawning system is a good example. Yesterday i got spawned three times in a row on the same place and my opponent got free frags for nothing (realy frustrating!). Hit detection is ,IMO, also weird. Sometimes it doesnt register obvious hits (railgun mostly and rocket splash dmg).
ive already posted once in here, but if there are any players who wanna duel or learn pm me here. im not that of a noob but im still lacking quite a lot, i'd say avg skill lvl (tho there are thousands of ppl playing better and worse than me )
The three great tourneygames, sc/sc2, Quake and cs. The best of all worlds, thought im not much of a cs fan myself except for when lanfinals are streamed.

If you're serious about it you should download Q3A and install defrag

Yep, runs much quicker for me on Chrome. In-game before the adds finished covering my screen and never sways from 125fps. Firefox feels sluggy in comparison anyway.

I got hooked after seeing the rapha vs cooller analysis a few months ago. But it turns out i'm terrible at this game, and i didn't want to play ffa's or lose every duel i play until i can actually shoot people.
Hit me up if you ever see me online, even though i lose most of my duels i still really enjoy them.
