I need to spend some time reworking my muscle memory or something. I do my walljumps backwards. They still work, but they're a lot slower and less reliable. But its so ingrained in me now =/

yeah it's probably not necessary
but i do it anyway because i find the length of holding down a button is easier to regulate than the length of not holding down a button (and this length is what regulates how far away from the wall you go, which is pretty important)

I guess the game can be played in many ways. I liked playing cooperatively at first too but once you learn how to beat all the maps that starts to get kind of boring. Instead I tried to beat the map in unique ways using walljumping and similar tricks or just making it to the hole first. Same thing as shaman. Every time I get the role as shaman I try to beat the level in a way I haven't seen before. I like to play the game with 30-50 mice. Some of the maps get a bit too easy or boring if you have less than 20 mice. The bridge map never breaks, the small tunnel maps are trivial etc. When you play with that many mice then whatever happens there is almost always at least one mouse that survives in some miraculous way.

I think the reason might be that there are a lot more walls where you are on the left side that you usually walljump. You get a lot more training in jumping those walls. I had the same problem early on. Only walls I have a problem with now are the ones where you are on the right side and carrying cheese. I usually don't fail but I climb them very slowly.

Finding good Shaman is...rare. It's an exceedingly easy thing to do but people are really really awful and have no idea how to use anchors.
I know most shamans that had any sort of skill just built bridges even with the option to use portals because it's far more fun....and the people that SUCKED used portals and everything was okay.

That depends a lot on which room you play in. People in /room reddit usually know how to make bridges either with red dots as support or by using two layers of red planks. I think both bridges and portals get boring after a while if you don't get new maps. Building the same common bridge on the same map again and again isn't that much fun. I like building complicated lifts, ratapults or in other ways find new ways to complete levels.

does anybody know what is up with the "hacking" in this game?
in almost every room someone is flying around as he pleases, thus ruining the game

I've never heard of that.
With regards to controls/wall jumping I'd be careful using the arrow keys, because as far as I know, on most standard keyboards you can't hold up, left, and right at the same time. Obviously you never need to hold even 2 keys down let alone three, but even if you accidently hold them down for a split of a split-second, it could nullify all your input due to key blocking.
Anyway, partially because of that I use WASD, but numpad 4568 works too if you have a program to remap keys like autohotkey. A good use for WASD is when your shaman, you can have your left hand on it (right next to the CVBN keys) and right hand on the mouse.
Personally I thought wall jumping right side walls was easier than left side walls, but then that might not have been the case. I think the big problem is just wall-jumping with cheese, which is incredibly difficult - since i can go up any-sided wall very quick without cheese, but most left side wall jumps would be if you have cheese on your back.

With regards to controls/wall jumping I'd be careful using the arrow keys, because as far as I know, on most standard keyboards you can't hold up, left, and right at the same time. Obviously you never need to hold even 2 keys down let alone three, but even if you accidently hold them down for a split of a split-second, it could nullify all your input due to key blocking.
Anyway, partially because of that I use WASD, but numpad 4568 works too if you have a program to remap keys like autohotkey. A good use for WASD is when your shaman, you can have your left hand on it (right next to the CVBN keys) and right hand on the mouse.

I can do walljumping Left and Right side (with the arrow keys even) absolutely no problem now. I can do right side with Cheese most of the time but the left side rapes me. Thankfully im at the point where I don't care about cheese gathering and just go for firsts...if I don't make a first and it's not because I lost a close race I simply kill myself.
1st or nothing, plus it forces me to WJ left side with cheese.

I didn't play on TL after I learned that you need at least 11 people to get first cheeses. AFAIK you only need 3 people just to get cheese points though.

edit: Never mind, I can't connect to the en or en2 servers. These guys really need to upgrade their equipment.
edit2: OK I got on en2, in /room tl right now... doing some shaman practice.

Yeah it is often empty. Make friends with anyone you see there, so you can follow whereabouts and get people to join back at tl. (/friend <nickname> should do the trick, as long as they're in the same room)
If you want to join a different room for actual play if tl is empty. As far as I know:
room 1 = the big room with lots of mice, and quite often a moderator in the room.
room 23 = serious play (ain't it so kts?)
room 50 = play with plenty of trolling (and where you can find me from time to time)
there's some more rooms mentioned on the transformice wiki.

It's crazy how die-hard some players are in this game though... it's like they are playing wow they are so addicted or something. They must be doing it 95% of the time while they are at work, and another 60% of the time at home!
