Yeah, gkgkjrs can even jungle with Ryze after level 3-4 (how the fuck) and even he doesn't take solo mid.

Is Pantheon really that bad/medicore? Some games I can roll people with him then others it just seems like im helpless (I blame by terrible play though).

lol anyways i wouldn't ban ashe if i saw tictacs, waste of a ban imo haha. i'm actually a bit nervous as to what will happen if someone picks kat and nidalee/ezreal are banned. gotta go back to eve/shaco/ryze or one of the other retarded heroes i used to play as a lowbie.

He's the definition of a snowball character. Most melee DPS are plagued by that fact. If you do well early on, get a few stacks on your SotO or an early BF Sword, Panth hits harder and thus gets even more kills mid/late game. If you get 2-3 early deaths and you're pretty much dead weight the rest of the game.
He's fabulous in capable hands, he just needs to farm well. Panth is rather item dependent.

So I ask you Teamliquid: Which heroes are considered higher tier characters, and why is Ryze considered to be a low tier hero?

Ryze is decent but there are better casters to choose from. When someone says "top tier caster", you typically think of Annie. Annie has 3 offensive spells with a built in stun. Ryze has 2 offensive spells and a root. The unfortunate thing about a root is that the enemy can still casts spells while they're in Rune Prison. You try and gank a Soraka or Kassadin, they can silence you before you get your two offensive spells off.
Casters are by nature, very squishy. So they need to burst out a lot of damage and tank as little as possible. That's why Annie is so good. You flash in, Ignite, drop Tibbers, Incinerate, Cone. Whoever you're targeting eats the entire chain unless they're running cleanse/flash. But you should be watching the loading page anyways.
