Would Singed or something be a good idea? Any other suggestions? haha you're asking for a hero who can 1v5 and initiate and escape. this is a team game, you'll have to rely on your teammates to some extent no matter what.

Would Singed or something be a good idea? Any other suggestions? i'm sure i could have done what you needed with amumu and ghost/flash Mmm I'm not the best amumu but the last few times I've played him with a terrible team I actually felt really helpless :/ But yeah I think some kind of a tanky champion.. if I had Mordekaiser, him with mass Sunfires would be a perfect way to stomp some games

Well amumu and singed would work but if you want a less tanky hero you could go with someone like TF

You said 1v5, initiate and escape. Nothing about killing people =]
Shen can pretty effectively 2v1, kill both and escape but that's only if your early game was solid

This is gonna be a slightly mean post, but this kind of thing is starting to drive me up the wall in this thread. keV gets somewhat of a free pass because 1900 (I assume you did the same as RadJacob and pestered someone for the nonranked elo like, yesterday-ish, and I assume this is on US) is decent (not great, but decent), but his post kinda exemplifies the source of my annoyance.
If you're losing a lot, in solo queue, especially if you're playing an early snowball hero, you're probably really not that good. Well, to be honest most of the people in LiquidParty (US) are actually really not that good. For example,
I didn't really wanna say anything, but after I woke up from my nap and I see a few more pages of QQ MY TEAM SUX in this thread I was just like @#$)@*#$ are you serious.
Honestly, honestly honestly aside from me noticing SecretShake was on his team, I noticed a 1-1-1 Katarina, and if the Kat took solo mid (as she should), she would have been against Ashe, Morgana or Teemo. She should STOMP them if she's any good (especially if they're bad! because bad people die unnecessary deaths to heroes they don't fully comprehend!), and if they're actually okay and play superduper safe (ie Morgana spamming spellshield) she should walk all over them in lane and start killing people in other lanes.
But hey, guess what, it's the Katarina that managed to only go 1-1-1 that's complaining!
What gives?
By contrast, and admittedly playing with one other good player really helps, but when I play with EzPzLmnSqz half our games we end up with 0 deaths and some ridiculous scores like 12-0-14 and 6-0-7 and stuff on Annie and Kassadin. If you're actually better than who you're playing against and you're playing a hero that can take advantage of it (ie. not tanks/support) then you should be racking up ridiculous scores and the game should look absolutely stupid. ChrispySC's even worse, the man has a few 25-X-X games and such, prompting me to go "wtf your scores are so ridiculous QQ."
Also as has been insinuated, many good players are still hovering at low elos because not enough time has passed. Until I massed a few games with EzPz this morning I was sitting on like 1290 (I even lol'd at the quality of competition I was running into), and you'll still see people like MakNooN sitting at 1300 rating. Law of averages state that if you're actually good, and you can actually carry/snowball, you'll get where you should be in the next week or two.

uta, despite this putting me in danger of sounding like a kissass, I want to say I totally dig your long ass rant posts. they are usually of the utmost quality and intelligence while still STOMPING on whomever its targeted towards.
oh and next time kass is free write a guide. =P

I've only played 2 ranked games so far. but I feel as long as you don't complain about your team mates... ping the map constantly, and constantly go around and destroy people... then ping where you want to go/what you want to do.. you'll be fine.
Also at the price of 180 gold you buy 2 wards.. ward the rivers.. and win...

Says on their homepage that they are restarting servers, should be back up at 3 P.M Pacific time, little over an hour.

I'm just hoping people stop banning Shen, I like playing him =[

The thing is, my team started out really good, really friendly and actually decent players (we actually went on a winning streak against the top 10 (ish) elo players at the time, beating them in under 20 mins every time, making some of them ragequit). Then there were a couple of arguments between a few of the members and a couple of the decent players left. As I wasn't a part in the arguments, I didn't take a side and just stayed in the team, but all the team 'leader' turned out to be a bit of a dumbass and so did the people he subbed in to fill the gaps..
But yea, I agree with you in general. It's just hard to know how someone you only know via a game played over the internet is gonna behave in slightly more challenging situations.

Some people this morning were like ban Shen! I was like wtfux are you stupid *bans Taric* Seriously, what a wasted ban to ban Shen. I'm not gonna rag on him, I think he's fine, but he's nowhere near as stupid as something like Taric or Janna or Soraka :|
Also the people banning Xin. Wat. That guy's like Garen B.
I'd write a Kass guide but I don't know how I'd write one, in part because 1) I sometimes still feel like I'm playing him wrong and 2) I rarely play the same way twice, because I keep changing things up based on how the game's going. It'd be pretty long and kinda flow-chart-y >_>
Edit:

Guild Wars really drained me when it comes to organized team games, which is why I've drifted away from 5-man and just got more comfortable solo queueing. It's really tough managing egos (my own included, not gonna lie! :D) and different levels of motivation, etc.
For instance, for a couple months in LoL we were playing with a grab-bag from me, Baikinman, Turkey, chibiano, Smash, Kyzer, Hypnotic, kiko, and Exstichi, but over time you start seeing the play level differential. Certain things that worked in lower elos stopped working as well. For example, the epic 1v2 Blitzcrank stopped working about 3-4 months ago, as we started playing people who 1) didn't walk out in the open against Blitzcrank hugging tower 2) stopped autoattacking to push into tower 3) started playing lanes that were safe and dominating, like Nidalee/Soraka lanes. Well when your usual carry (the good old days of 20-2-5 Blitzcrank T_T) stops being able to perform his magic, it starts exposing a lot of other players. And as a bunch of us got better and better (and started winning more and more in solo queue) it just got really frustrating playing with less devoted/skilled players "just because they're friends."
I don't really know what you can do about this. It's only in the past few days, actually (mostly because he's finally broken down and become willing to play tanky) that I've warmed back up to the prospect of playing with Baikin again because he's finally shaking off the rust of not playing for a month via monitor issues, and because he's finally building tank Blitz which is usually more useful than an all-in DPS blitz that fails when he can't hook.

The only ranked game I have played had Rammus, Shen, Heimerdinger, and Soraka banned in that order.
First two picks were taric and shaco and i facepalmed.

I just reread what I posted and it didn't read like I wanted it to. I haven't checked my ELO in months, the ranking I'm getting is from the top 500 lists from way back 1900 was fairly high then, but I didn't get there by carrying teams. My most played heroes were Alister, Nunu and Sivir. I pick to win, because the competition then was fierce. I remained at a high ELO and low level because of the constant ladder resets and high rated beta players, have always been given an ELO jump.
So, I am extremely far behind in runes, I'm not even level 30. The game has changed ALOT since I was last playing and the only good players I recognize on the higher spots on the ladder now is the Dinhs and Big McLarge Huge
What I really wanted to say was that: because I have the most experience (and runes) being a support and tank player, it's been a pain the ass for me to carry a team myself. Most of the item builds I am used to have been completely thrown out, and not to mention the influx of new items. Summoner spell picks are also completely different than before. I am obviously readjusting, and that is why I was asking for dominant heroes. I am returning to the game after 6 months, that is all I was trying to convey. Normally I'd go to the forums, but they are unusable right now, and solomid.net is as dead as ever.

^^ Ohh that must have been you then Southlight. I went to go do something and my brother took the computer and told me some guy messaged me on LoL saying I got silly scores but he didn't know who haha.
At this level it's all fun and games until you meet another high elo person on the other team. I had Xpecial on the opposite team as Ezreal and once I saw the regrowth pendant katarina go mid (and claim that all ezreal's are noobs) I knew I was doomed.
I think two good people can easily carry the team to victory though, just need a partner. @_@
